I have absolutely no idea I'm afraid, but am still enjoying it thoroughly
I don't think Olivia know anything at the moment, I seem to have managed to forget everything about series 1 apart from that Walter brought Peter across from the other side. Was Olivia trying to get to 'the other side' or was it purely conincedental that she was there at that particular time???

I've clearly watched too many episodes of The Hills and ANTM in between series.

Anniek · 14/10/2009 14:01

I think

The basic idea is that while tripping in the 60's Walter and "mr spock" (Can't remember his characters name)discovered there really are alternative universe(s) and they worked out how to travel to them.

Walter used his knowledge to bring an alternative Peter back to replace his dead son.

Olivia visited Mr Spock and he told her some big secret (which she can't remember).

Her partner has been replaced by a shape shifting soldier from the alternative universe, and he goes into the room to type up requests / information to his bosses.

At this point we don't know who his bosses are but they respond by typing on the same typewriter (presumably in the alternative universe) They seem to want to stop Olivia from using the secret that Mr Spock told her?

Or at least I think that is where we are, either that or I'm completely lost too .

LostGirl · 14/10/2009 14:12

William Bell is 'Mr Spock', and I only know that because I just googled the series 1 finale .

Please stay on this thread Anniek and you can continue to explain the series as we go along

Blondeshavemorefun · 14/10/2009 15:19

" Walter used his knowledge to bring an alternative Peter back to replace his dead son."

erm , i watched all of series one (and obv fell asleep as well in it)

peter isnt walters real son

i thought olovia was freaked by the idea of seeing her dead partner, but looked quite happy to be with him in the car

OP posts:
LostGirl · 14/10/2009 16:07

He is Walter's son, but his son from the alternative universe because the Peter in this universe died (finale saw Walter looking at gravestone). That's why Walter and Peter have different memories of his childhood (eg the whole you used to love pancakes/no I've always hated pancakes thing).

Well between the three of us we should beable to figure out season two!

Blondeshavemorefun · 14/10/2009 16:51

ahhhhhhhhhhh

blondes brain is hurting

so does everyone has a twin in the alturnative universe?

i really think i must have fallen asleep in the previous episodes - def dont rem a gravestone

so does peter know he isnt the real son?

and dont think i will be much help in solving fringe but happy to assisst

futurity · 14/10/2009 17:04

My dh and I love fringe:-) regarding peter wasn't there lots of mumblings from walter in series one about peter being ill or something to do with his health? Was that all leading towards him being the other peter from different universe or could it be that he might not survive living in this universe? Or am I remembering it all wrong?!

Blondeshavemorefun · 14/10/2009 17:10

havent a clue futurity - but welcome abroad

hopefully we may manage to understand this series

OP posts:
Anniek · 14/10/2009 17:29

No Peter doesn't know he was swapped.

Futurity, no the ill comments Walter was making is him remembering Peter's illness in this universe, but Peter doesn't remember because he wasn't ill in the alternative universe. That was the build up to the season 1 finale, when you realise what Walter did! He effectively kidnapped Peter (Which I think leads to a story about Peter's Mum at some point!)but Peter doesn't know / didn't know until working with Olivia that there were alternative universes.... hope that makes sense.

Blondeshavemorefun · 15/10/2009 09:49

i think i am going to have to watch last episode again of series one ( i must have had a little nap) as i dont seem to remember any of this

all i do remember is that olivia dissapeered, met dr spock and images went a bit wobbly

any idea how to watch last one again?

OP posts:
LostGirl · 15/10/2009 11:54

I'm sure if you google Fringe season 1 episode ?? live streaming, you will come up with something. Apparently Olivia went to see Dr Spock in a lift and that was how she was transported to alternative universe, I have no recollection of this whatsoever, so how come her car was parked in the middle of the road and she came back through the windscreen of it? Anniek? Any chance you have the answer to this too?? (I'm blonde as well by the way)

Anniek · 15/10/2009 20:40

No I'm lost on that one too, but I do think I remember when she was driving to the meeting with Mr Spock, she nearly crashed....

But I could be remembering that wrong getting the DVD box set of season 1 but not until Christmas

Blondeshavemorefun · 16/10/2009 15:04

ok

been on a bit of a google - cant find the last one to watch but can read what happened

last episode read

course it still doesnt make much sense to me

JimJammum · 16/10/2009 20:43

Fringe wiki is a good website I think for getting updates on episodes and a bit of translation for mere mortals. The crash is after she met with William Bell, cos the end of season 1 was here standing in his office in the twin towers (that's how we know it was alternate universe). She now doesn't remember meeting him, which makes me think the persn in the mirror on the typewriter isn't William Bell, as that person wants her to remember - I suspect it's a bad character who wants to track down William Bell.....and hoping she will show them how.

They just finished showing past season on Sky 1 where I watched it, so it's all fresh in my mind, and also been doing a bit of research on the web to make season 1 make sense, so I should be able to decode a bit!!

LostGirl · 16/10/2009 21:19

Hurrah! Will be awaiting your post on Monday to explain Sunday's episode. Meanwhile I can just sit back and enjoy watching Joshua JAckson, safe in the knowledge that others can actually tell me what is going on.

Blondeshavemorefun · 17/10/2009 08:24

welcome abroad JimJammum - between you and anniek us blondes may understand fringe

i thought she had gone back in time when i saw the towers

OP posts:
JimJammum · 19/10/2009 21:47

Everyone still on board after the last ep??? I know it's tricky when there's Joshua Jackson to rool over, but are you all managing to keep up?

Blondeshavemorefun · 20/10/2009 15:49

erm

tying too

OP posts:
Blondeshavemorefun · 20/10/2009 15:49

trying even

squilly · 20/10/2009 16:03

I'm in for this one. I'd picked up half of the story, but hadn't quite gelled with the alternative Peter thing. I wondered why there was a gravestone with his name on, but just thought this was an adopted Peter. Makes more sense that he's an alternative reality chap!

I'm loving this too, though I don't understand the half of it.

BTW has anyone here checked out Warehouse 13? It's nowhere near the same kind of quality as this, but it's worth a look if you like something a bit different.

Avendesora · 20/10/2009 16:23

I like Warehouse, its easier to understand than Fringe

LostGirl · 20/10/2009 16:25

Watched this week's this morning and managed to multi task by drooling and following the story line at the same time. This was helped immensely by the fact that there was no reference to alternative universes, typewriters writing by themselves in mirrors etc.

What channel is Warehouse 13 on?

Blondeshavemorefun · 20/10/2009 17:41

squilly - me too with the alternative Peter thing

im blonde

OP posts:
squilly · 20/10/2009 19:30

Warehouse is like a milkyway compared to a bar of Green & Blacks darkest, richest chocolate. I love it Avendesora.

It's on Sci-Fi, if you're in the UK Lostgirl.

I'm blonde too bhmf. At my last job they bought me a dark hair dye as a gift, so I could be smarter! It didn't work

I'm guessing that blonde is a bit like still waters...it runs deep

PfftTheMagicDragon · 20/10/2009 19:34

I am loving Fringe at the moment, was very unsure of it when it started but it's gathering pace(y) now.

Peter is starting to have dreams that indicate he will discover being alterna-peter in the future.
