Ah - x-post .

differentID · 07/07/2009 23:12

Eve Myles is living with her male partner, very happily apparently. It was an article in one of the Welsh papers recently.

Well, I understood in the batting sense.

bakerslovecakes · 07/07/2009 23:14

OMG did someone say Captain Jack was naked, I missed it tonight, is it gonna be repeated?

MaryMotherOfCheeses · 07/07/2009 23:15

Fair enough.

Good luck to her either way, I say.

UnquietDad · 07/07/2009 23:16

lovingthesilverfox - I don't think there is going to be any Torchwood to leave, frankly! Russell T Davies has left Doctor Who and commitments on the continuation of Torchwood are a bit, well, hazy.

Plus, yes, JB is very good looking but - come on, people, even the JB Oestrogen Brigade must admit he has porked out a bit and got a bit more careworn. No bad thing in a man, and he still looks better than I will at 42, but they can't keep up the "he never gets any older" shtick for much more than another year or two!!

differentID · 07/07/2009 23:17

maybe I wasn';t paying attentiopn to the main article.

differentID · 07/07/2009 23:18

Exactly, who cares what team anyone bats for any more. I think she'll be a fantastic parent.

Nasty Assassin Woman not as fit as Redman, really. Redman is a goddess.

JackieNo · 07/07/2009 23:19

UD - it doesn't have to have him in it, though, does it? But it would need some main character to hold it together, so I guess it's not looking good .

Katisha · 07/07/2009 23:23

And why does no-one ever mention the Doctor? You might have thought they'd have a batphone or somesuch.
And why are Frobisher and Britney Spears taking the work experience girl everywhere they go?

JackieNo · 07/07/2009 23:24

Katisha - I'm glad it's not just me who thinks of her as Britney Spears.

UnquietDad · 07/07/2009 23:26

They mention him occasionally in past episodes, but it is sort of established now that Earth has to look after itself once in a while. (We may not see it often, but the Doctor is more often than not away sorting out some nasty business with the Gronthons on Sauris Major in the 24th Century, or whatever.)

Rose and Martha had intergalactic timey-wimey "batphones", but I don't know if Jack ever did.

I wondered that about the work experience girl too! Walking plot device!

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 07/07/2009 23:30

I think there should be some mention of the Dr. I take your point UQD, but this is pretty important and I would expect the Dr to turn up, or at least make a phone call

As a fully paid up member of the JB Oestrogen Brigade, I think I can answer for us all that we were not noticing his wrinkles in that episode

UnquietDad · 07/07/2009 23:32

The Doctor will be turning up in "Sarah Jane And The Meddling Kids" in a few weeks' time!

EdwardBitMe · 08/07/2009 09:16

JB really is porking up. When the "evil black-clad agent with a stupid run" was looking down on Capt. J from the hole in the cell ceiling, his jowls were definitely effected by gravity!

MayorNaze · 08/07/2009 09:33

didn't jack have a batphone at some point? but it got destroyed by spike from buffy? or am i confusing dr who and torchwood?

i miss owen. i think he was fab.

think ianto has put on a couple of pounds bless him.

does anyone else think that rhys might get killed as he is so totally not a torchwoody type of person and likepy to do something daft? probably saving gwen and his unborn child?

slug · 08/07/2009 09:53

My gay BF has a huge crush on Ianto.

Dumbledoresgirl · 08/07/2009 10:06

UQD, there was nothing gratuitous about the shot of Barrowman's arse. Some of us need it to make life worth living!

Dumbledoresgirl · 08/07/2009 10:13

Oh yes and I agree that Ianto is the one to have put on weight lately rather than Capt Jack. My image of Ianto is of a rather callow youth in awe of and being led astray by Capt Jack (oo-er, calm yourself DG! ) but now he looks a lot older and rather too solid to be led anywhere.

Good point though that JB is inevitably going to age and so can't play the immortal Capt Jack forever. I had never thought about that, but then, I have never supposed that Torchwood (the programme) would go on forever either.

I did assume the PA was being introduced as a new member of Torchwood though....

bunnyrabbit · 08/07/2009 10:24

Good points re JB getting older and I think they've both put on a few pounds.

Also, a very obvious lack of any mention of the Dr at all is a bit naff. Martha conveniently uncontactable on honeymoon (thank god) but where is Sarah Jane???

Having said that, it's bloody brillaint and more like the old DR Who where they had time to develop things a bit more and didn't have to neatly wrap things up in a one hour monster of the week story.

And IMHO there is nothing wrong with a bit of gratuitous nudery. After all it is after the watershed.

BR

EdwardBitMe · 08/07/2009 10:30

LOL at Ianto being "rather too solid to be led anywhere."!
slug We met Ianto in a pub near Cardiff sports college just after the first series of Torchwood (in his slimmer days...) Mochon Du (The black pig?)

Itsjustafleshwound · 08/07/2009 10:32

Perhaps the Dr is too busy appearing in the reapeats on BBC3/Watch....
