OP posts:
LovingtheSilverFox · 08/07/2009 23:25

I was thinking it was a gaint scorpion, but elephant works just as well, how many are there supposed to be in that box anyway? And why hasn't Frobisher asked why they want the kids? Some of the ones round here could do with a bit of ET discipline, earth discipline doesn't seem to work!

LovingtheSilverFox · 08/07/2009 23:26

Sorry for typos, typed too quick and hit post, instead of preview! What is it they keep spitting out? Some sort of toxic snot?

pigswithfludontfly · 08/07/2009 23:27

I want to know how/ why that chap who was involved in the 1965 abductions has such a strong sense of smell.

LovingtheSilverFox · 08/07/2009 23:32

Perhaps the toxic gas stuff has burnt into his nose, and it makes it more sensitive? Or it's a plot device to introduce Gwen's pregnancy and won't ever be explained. This is infuriating, there are too many questions at the end of each episode, doesn't help that DH is non Dr Who or Torchwood fan, so keeps asking back story questions, is this grounds for divorce??

LovingtheSilverFox · 08/07/2009 23:34

At least we don't have to wait until next week to find out what's going to happen.

UnquietDad · 08/07/2009 23:34

I imagine "why?" will be the first thing asked at the top of Episode Four!

LovingtheSilverFox · 08/07/2009 23:39

And we will have loads of questions at the end of episode 4 as well!!

The other thing that has been bothering me is why Clem is affected the way he is, he didn't go with the aliens after all. I then thought, maybe it's because he is crazy (sorry can't think of PC word) but is he, or was it his experience that made him that way? And if it wasn't, why isn't every other person in a mental hospital behaving the same way?

And those other people assasinated, did they help Jack deliver the kids? And when is someone going to ask the work experience girl of ID and her level of clearance, and what she is doing there?? Ohhhhh questions, questions....

UnquietDad · 08/07/2009 23:41

Britney Spears suspects "Walking Plot Device Work Experience Girl". You could see it as she sidled round the conference room!

LovingtheSilverFox · 08/07/2009 23:41

And just who is the nutty assasination lady? Is she from UNIT, or is there ANOTHER government organisation set up to deal with these things? Wouldn't that be too many departments with an interest in one thing? Surely that wouldn't be secret?

I am going to stop posting now....driving myself nuts!!

LovingtheSilverFox · 08/07/2009 23:43

That's another thing, if she is Britney Spears, where are the bunches?? And the school uniform? Was it taken away by aliens? (That's DHs question BTW)

pigswithfludontfly · 08/07/2009 23:43

That alien thing looks like a woolly mammoth in the trailer for the next episode.

UnquietDad · 08/07/2009 23:49

It does... or an elephant.

Also, why did Frobisher put the chair in the lift? It was a blink-and-miss-it thing, but it must have been significant.

EdwardBitMe · 08/07/2009 23:49

I think Clem was a sane child, traumatised by the events of 1965.
Why did Jack deliver the gift in 1965?
Britney Spears is soon going to uncover Lois.

I missed what UNIT did with Jack's daugher & grandson. Can you fill me in? I saw where they were cornered in the alley by annoying black-clad woman. Dh was shouting at the tv "Shoot the bitch!"

UnquietDad · 08/07/2009 23:53

I think Jack will turn out to have been faced with an impossibkle choice - give us 10 children or we kill 1000, something like that. Historians might call it the "Coventry dilemma."

And it's exactly what will happen again in the next episode.

The 456 don't want 10% - they're just going in early with a high bid. They expect to be negotiated down... say to about 1%. That being exactly what they wanted to begin with. Brinkmanship. Dragons' Den!

LovingtheSilverFox · 08/07/2009 23:54

LOL at "Shoot the bitch" thats what I was screaming - at iplayer!

UD I think he put the chair in the lift to block anyone coming up so he could speak to 456 about the last time, without anyone else running into the room.

I did wonder whether it was significant that Frobisher's face and Clem face were called onto the computer screen at the same time at one point, when they were talking about face recognition software......

JAck didn't seem too happy about handing over the kids the first time, or was that just me wanting to think the best?

LovingtheSilverFox · 09/07/2009 00:05

But Jack said that they had come back and that indicated they weren't to be trusted. So surely the powers that be won't hand over any children? And what do these creatures do, go around the different worlds collecting kids? Eat them? Convert them in a slightly Borg type manner?

LovingtheSilverFox · 09/07/2009 00:07

Also (another question) why haven't they got their own name? Why are they content to use 456? I am still wondering if, when the gas clears, they are an old baddie back from the past, like...like....

UnquietDad · 09/07/2009 00:08

silverfox - I imagine they did a deal - give us 10 and we go away for ever, will never bother you again. So that's why coming back shows they are not to be trusted.

Thanks for the explanation about the chair. I blinked and missed it!

edwardbitme - Nasty Woman (who I don't think is UNIT) basically called Alice's bluff and got her to put down gun and knife. Alice said "if you hurt him I will kill you" and Nasty Woman said "I know" in a very matter-of-fact way.

LovingtheSilverFox · 09/07/2009 00:13

Could they be some relation of the Tritovores? Particularly if they are an insecty-type thing? That maybe why they keep spitting.

LovingtheSilverFox · 09/07/2009 01:00

Not a speculative question, but I honestly missed this, how did Jack get Frobisher's wife's phone?

RustyBear · 09/07/2009 06:53

He was watching her make a call through the window of her house & when she put the phone down he just walked in & took it.

Not sure what he was planning to do if she hadn't left her phone on the table...

Sugarmagnolia · 09/07/2009 07:22

Alibaba - I heard rumour from my DH but he's a bit of a geek so I'm guessing he's read it on a Dr Who fan site/blog somewhere.

Tee2072 · 09/07/2009 07:33

UD I am not sure if you are questioning the fact that Forbisher said 'United Kingdom and Northern Ireland' because you think NI will be upset, or if because he did mess it up because the 'official' name is 'The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland' and you think Great Britain will be upset!!

Here in NI? We know we're special and kept apart.

bunnyrabbit · 09/07/2009 08:44

MMmm agree with most of this although I hadn't heard the DT rumour.

Why does she need to sidle round the room when she could just write in shorthand what Frobisher is saying? Wouldn't that be slightly less dubious than inching closer to the aliens!!

I thought they were going to be insecty but look more elephantine to me. Is the splashing green gunk at the glass wall trick purely the excretion of waste matter?

Not sure about the asking for 10% wanting 1%.....

I thought the alien mimicked Frobisher. Seemed to be far too much intonation in the voice for it to be the speech recognition s/w. Will check on sky+ tongiht

BR

EdwardBitMe · 09/07/2009 08:48

Agree here with the mimicking.

I thought the aliens looked like dead baby birds thrashed against the glass, but with added "ooze"
