Have been a fan since I was a student. Am I the only one on MN?

No you are not alone. i love it

LackaDAISYcal · 07/02/2009 19:45

because it's rubbish?

GossipMonger · 07/02/2009 19:46

tis crap and even if you dont watch it you can always catch up in one episode as the same story seems to be on a 'groundhog day loop'

Tortoise · 07/02/2009 19:46

I love it too!
And Home and Away!

dragonbutter · 07/02/2009 19:48

because it's 2009 not 1989

extremelychocolateymilkroll · 07/02/2009 20:07

But it's not all crap and it brings back memories of your youth, surely? It can be really funny - especially the lines that Susan and Toadie get. Interesting how since C5 and more money there are so many more outside broadcast episodes.

I too love Neighbours and Home and Away

nct73 · 08/02/2009 19:53

it's my guilty pleasure too

minko · 09/02/2009 17:56

Love it! That and Home and Away - it's mummy's hour of telly before the school pick-up. Yes, the story lines are a bit pants recently and the acting is a bit rubbish but it's harmless switch-your-brain-off relaxing telly.

Anniek · 09/02/2009 18:58

Why hasn't anyone mentioned abortion to Bridget?

I'm not all for them but I think 16 year old kid, who obviously doesn't want a baby and nobody seems to even be considering it?

Are they illegal in Australia?

2shoesformyvalentine · 09/02/2009 18:59

I love it and H&a

bluebump · 09/02/2009 19:03

I stopped watching it when C4 put Come Dine with me on at the same time. I keep missing the weekend repeats too. So, Bridget is pregnant, what else has been happening? What happened to Bridget's weird aunt that seemed to be stalking her dad?

LynetteScavo · 09/02/2009 19:06

It's just not the same since it's been on C5.

There was an abortion on neirghbours a few years ago - when Connor got Jacks grilfriend PPG.

fryalot · 09/02/2009 19:18

I love it!

It's my time. I watch it at dinner time and I insist that everyone is quiet for the half hour that it is on. (Not because i need to see it that much, just that it is a handy time for them to read a book or do some drawing or something that involves them playing on their own for a little while... I'm in the room of course)

It's crap, it's trashy, it's aimed at teenagers and it has no redeeming features whatsoever.

But by god I love it!

LynetteScavo · 09/02/2009 19:25

I hardly get to watch it now I work part time, but when I was at home all day I soooo loved it. We'd go out in the morning, have lunch, I'd put them down for a nap and then have a break...no tidying/ changing nappies, etc for 20 whol mins..bliss. I also loved it when I was in 6th form; we used to watch it after lunch. I was always so when it was over and we had to go back to lessons.

Anniek · 10/02/2009 13:01

BB

Bridget's aunt went completely off the deep end, tried to kill Steve, then when she got found out pretended she was Miranda Steve's wife, and is now in prison/ hospital or something!

chocolatedot · 10/02/2009 13:56

It's so bad it's great. Absurd stories that happen ridiculously quickly. I just love it that Dr Karl delivers babies, carries out open heart surgery, is always in A&E for any emergency and is still there for consultations with a pregnant teenager.

blametheparents · 10/02/2009 14:12

OMG - Bridget has fainted!
What drama!
Will Declan be a hero?

(Also can't believe no-pne has mentioned the word abortion)

chocolatedot · 10/02/2009 14:16

Not least because the girls in the programme all seem pretty liberal with their favours.

LynetteScavo · 10/02/2009 15:55

So if past stroy lines are anything to go on, Bridget will meet some one else who is longing for a baby and they will fall in love, and Declan will come round to the idea of being a dad, eventually after much huffing and puffing.

Do they actually think the stroy lines thoguh, or just make them up on the morning of filming?

I still love it, though -even if it is on C5 - does anyone else think the picture is a bit dark and "grainy" now?

extremelychocolateymilkroll · 10/02/2009 17:14

Haven't noticed the picture being different on C5 - just how they get out and about a lot more. Can't wait for Steve's reaction when he finds out about Bridget. Declan is such a sleaze. It is odd how abortion hasn't been mentioned - even though evil Elle hinted at it when talking of getting Bridget the "help" she needed. Does anyone else think that Bridget will have a miscarriage?

bagsforlife · 10/02/2009 17:26

Agree with chocolatedot. Karl does EVERYTHING possible in the medical world. They do have the most ludicrous storylines but it's a strangely soothing programme I find!

Have been secret Neighbours addict for years but have stopped watching now two older DCs are at university and lost the will a bit once on C5.

Can't believe (well, yes I can really) that Bridget is pregnant. Presumably Karl is in charge of her antenatal classes....

GaspodTheWonderDog · 10/02/2009 18:54

I LOVE it! (Oh and she's not here yet but expat does too...is expat still around?)

It's good that Toadie is finally matched with someone of similar attractiveness (I love Toadie btw but Dee + Toadie...yeah right)

I think Rebecca and Steve are going to end up having an affair - NOTE I have absolutely no grounding for this, I don't read spoilers (not since I read about Marco two months before it happened and consequently it seemed an even shiter storyline than it was) it's clear Rebecca (where is that damn woman's VPL??)obviously has no taste (one legged Paul) so Steve seems the perfect choice

Right, I think I've revealed enough of my Neighbours insanity

GaspodTheWonderDog · 10/02/2009 18:55

Oh and Karl so far is:

Surgeon
Obstetrician
Oncologist
Teen councillor
Paediatrician

Did I miss any?!

extremelychocolateymilkroll · 10/02/2009 19:19

Gasp - we are on the same wavelength. Definitely agree about Toadie and the new girl - finally someone who isn't way more attractive than him. I do think Toadie gets funnier and funnier. It really feels like Rebecca and Steve could have an affair. I really like Rebecca. For those not in the know - Rebecca's real life ex partner and father of her young child is now going out with Libby in real life.
