Sorry for the delay - internet went down just as I clicked create conversation....

OP posts:

I can spell Shakespeare, by the way

I have a degree in English Literature, as you will doubtless have guessed by now

meridian · 11/07/2008 19:04

I really shouldn't have spent half the day painting pictures, because now I have so much to read through on here.

edam · 11/07/2008 19:06

That's more than he could, Meg. IIRC William S spelt his name in at least 18 different ways - the one version he never, ever used was Shakespeare, as it happens. Go figure...

KayHarker · 11/07/2008 19:12

I am kind of in it for the Shakespeare, because I really would like to see Tennant's take on the role. But I'm quite happy to admit I'm going to see it primarily because of his reputation as a stage actor. Doesn't hurt that he's pretty, naturally. But I genuinely want to see him work an audience (Stop sniggering at the back there)

I'll hev you know, I am hayly cultured.

MegReally · 11/07/2008 19:39

"Doesn't hurt that he's pretty, naturally"

well we sure as hell wouldn't be on here getting our knickers in a twist about Jon Pertwee

MegReally · 11/07/2008 19:41

oh yes kay v cultured indeed

can tell by the number of alternatives you used for the word 'length' - an impressive, nay Shakespearian vocabulary range

meridian · 11/07/2008 19:43

pmsl ... well you know I can't be cultured.. I'm American afterall.. though I have with some persistance trained the Californian "like" out of my vocab...

" you know like totally.. like Dr. Who is like.. this like really like good show like. youknow like?"

serenity · 11/07/2008 19:48

Ok, I have to go to work now, so this is just a place marker so I don't have to mess around at 1 when I get home

Carry on......

KayHarker · 11/07/2008 19:58

My sides are aching. 'Length' pmsl. Actually, I challenged myself to write the last fruit scene without using the word 'cock' once, so you may be right..

Gizmo · 11/07/2008 20:45

Goddamn, I hate it when I have to pay some attention to my children leave Mumsnet for a little while.

You are all too funny. Meg, ROFL, yet strangely attracted by the pink limo idea. I'm obviously ovulating, there really is no excuse for it otherwise....

Yes, Kay, I'm going to see Hamlet when it transfers to London, because I'm not minted enough to spend £350 on a pair of tickets (see? Definitely not stalker material, no real dedication to the art). Have tickets for the dress circle, right at the back, annoyingly, because even RSC Associate Membership won't get you good tickets for this gig.

And, I'll have you know, I am largely going because I'm interested in seeing how DT interprets the role . Strikes me that, while he is brilliant at romantic/comic/fantasy stuff I'm not sure how he will tackle the outright tragic, and it should be interesting. Am also going to catch him in Love's Labour's Lost, which I'm sure will be an open goal for him.

Gizmo · 11/07/2008 20:47

Umm Dior, if you want I can have a look and see if there are any tickets left for the London season?

It's almost certain there'll only be single seats though - do you want me to check it out for you?

Gizmo · 11/07/2008 21:13

OK, idly cruising YouTube (as you do)

Kay/Serenity, they're talking about you at 6.30 in this clip!

KayHarker · 11/07/2008 21:14

£350? Blimey, didn't pay that much... £60 for three. Mind you, I was pretty quick off the mark. In the pursuit of culcha, you understand.

Gizmo · 11/07/2008 21:16

Cheapest you can get 'em on ebay now

KayHarker · 11/07/2008 21:17

Roffle, they're so not - my porn is much better! 'Manly arms' pft.

I've got a couple of icons with Tennant from that show pulling a face of shock with the caption 'Doctor Who porn?'

Gizmo · 11/07/2008 21:18

Yeah, right, like he'd never heard of it

I knew all those years of acting experience were going to come in handy for something.

KayHarker · 11/07/2008 22:33

I did hold my breath when he said it was a Doctor/Martha scene, though...

TinkerBellesMum · 11/07/2008 23:23

lol David's face was brilliant! I don't think he moved the whole time!

Were they having a go at making their own at the end?

SuperSillyus · 12/07/2008 09:12

I have regenerated from Rosylily.

I'm laughing my head off at this thread (and learning alot )

Love that FNP clip! I wish they had arrived at my grocery shop.

I definately want to hire the pink limo......

UnquietDad · 12/07/2008 10:37

One of the BBC Books once had a TARDIS disguised as a policewoman. Cue "bigger on the inside" jokes...

serenity · 12/07/2008 10:51

'The nape of martha's back' doesn't make any sense - it irks me everytime I watch that clip It's her neck, it would be the nape of her neck. I have never been able to find that so-called fanfic btw, so I think they wrote it themselves. Imagine the kudos though if you were the author of the fic read out.......

You do realise that that is the FNP that involved DT being tied to a bed in a pair of jersey boxers?

I loathe pink, but for a MN Cardiff DT stalker meetup, I'd brave the limo
