Baking is my comfort zone. This would be a good round for me.

I agree, I love the way the cooks are so varied, some cook like you think all kids cook which is a bit wacky and messy and their work station looks like a car crash at the end, but others are incredibly talented and wack out amazing offerings that I would never even dream of attempting. but whatever sort of cook they are they are always so supportive of each other, it is a joy to watch.

My mum always lemon marrow curd when we were kids - we grew a lot of marrows and I think she (or we) got fed up with savoury stuffed marrow!

My Dad made marrow jam because he also grew lots of marrows. We didn't like that either, ungrateful little brutes. always clamoring for "proper shop jam.".

Cheese cake is a bit of a cop out. I have no idea on baking but even I can make a cheese cake.

Oh come on. If you are making Mille feuille in a competition you should be making the pastry. Otherwise you are making the equivalent of a white bread sandwich for all the skills you are showing.

I doubt they've given them enough time to make it, but it does mean he’s essentially just baking the pastry then stacking stuff. The others are doing a lot more actual baking/making.

Surely that sponge is going to be soggy as hell with all that coffee poured through it ?

I made a basque cheesecake the other week, it was amazing. And surprisingly easy! Apparently the secret is you have everything at room temperature , which I did.

I must give Junior Bake off a go as you all think so highly of it. I quit the Bake-off tent when Mary, Mel and Sue left and have never seen the junior version.
