The girls all did very well. I have a favourite but all three are deserving potential winners

Halsall · 16/09/2026 21:59

That was intense! We'll need one more thread but let's finish this one first and I'll have a new one ready to go on Friday when we need it.

I had a suspicion we would. Its the acceptable time Friday isn't it?

i must be very out of touch with the culinary world because i cannot understand what James Martin is doing at that table.

Pieceofpurplesky · 17/09/2026 00:30

They were all amazing. It was good to see them working as a team with the staff - they usually make it seem they do it all but that's not how a kitchen works. It's great to see them learning!
I also have a favourite but I really like all three so don't mind who wins. There is usually one I dislike so this make a pleasant change! Will be in a chemo bubble on Friday so will be watching from my bed with lots of Ribena!

Why do you think he shouldn't have been there?

Why do you think he shouldn't have been there?

because the other people at the table looked like chefs with michelin stars to their names.

to me James Martin is a TV chef, but as i said on my post, i’m out of touch with the culinary world and he must be more respected than i thought.

Needtosoundoffandbreathe · 17/09/2026 07:34

He's worked in Michelin starred restaurants and got a Michelin star for his restaurant at the Talbot Hotel, Malton.

I think your view of him as a TV chef may have coloured your judgement.

gingercat02 · 17/09/2026 08:13

ExtraOnions · 16/09/2026 21:55

I’m don’t think I’ve ever seen him on.

As someone who has a daughter going into the industry, I find it a bit disheartening that the high levels are so dominated by men.

BTW, I have eaten at Lisa’s restaurant, it was amazing

Me too, its fabulous. Lisa is one of my favourite chefs.
Why was James Martin there. I know he was a well know pastry chef, but he's no Alain Roux or Raymond Blanc!

Sad Sue left, but curse of the baa-ing lamb.

I really like all 3 so I don't mind who wins. Looks like the final is live only, not on iplayer.

gingercat02 · 17/09/2026 10:35

Just read @Needtosoundoffandbreathepost, many apologies to JM

bungobungobungo · 17/09/2026 11:13

@Pieceofpurplesky Hugs to you hope all goes well! x

bungobungobungo · 17/09/2026 11:17

@Brooklyn70 and @gingercat02 I was kind of wondering that too and he did seem a bit out of his depth with his comments. Good to know he has a Michelin star so it now makes sense.

Halsall · 17/09/2026 11:22

To me, James Martin doesn’t really feel part of the 'club' - if there is such a thing - of chefs who usually appear in the later rounds of MC. He does have a higher profile than many of them (multiple TV series etc - something or other of his is virtually always running on the Food Network, for instance), so personally I was a bit surprised to see him, as in my head he comes across as someone who’s not much of a 'joiner-in', if that makes sense. He very much ploughs his own furrow, usually.

I missed watchinglast night and catching up now. I just dont feel like this lot are as skilled as the last series with grace and John (Ginger , Alum-Wynn etc ) who seemed to be on fine dining by this stage. Just an observation As you were

Sunbird24 · 17/09/2026 20:03

Missed last night as well! Catchup it is, may watch tomorrow’s while I’m at it

NewGirlInTown · 18/09/2026 17:45

I truly hope Jasmine does not win this; she was so annoying last night at the Ritz, whereas the other two were taking it so professionally.

NewGirlInTown · 18/09/2026 17:47

Apologies; where the heck did ‘Jasmine’ come from??? I meant Shakira 🙄🥴

I was like whodafuk is Jasmine?!? 🤣🤣

I do kinda agree with you. She is grating on me something rotten out of all of them. Mind you girl has got skills. I honestly cant call it yet. Will see how this evening progresses.

I do hope we dont get half an hour of waffle a la normal and professional MC.

I have coffee and walnut cake to enjoy later 🤤

Prefer tiramisu, a delicious chewy meringue a la baked Alaska and black forest gateaux.

Edit so 70/80s
