I managed to close off the last thread without realising and couldn’t see a new one, so here you go!

Lorenzo Musetti's has had to withdraw from from Tokyo with a fractured finger. Not sure if dancing wth J-Lo caused it Grin.
He was due to play Arthur Fery (who he beat at the US open), so that opens things up for Arthur.

IceandIndigo · 30/09/2026 10:09

Lore has had the worst luck with injuries this year. Well, along with Carlos, Jannik, Jack....

Arthur Fils has just won his match in Tokyo. For some reason he had to play qualies, even though he's a former champion there. Good to see Holger is playing Tokyo as well.

Fizzywinegum · 30/09/2026 11:29

Poor Lorenzo - he’s not had much luck recently

I think Arthur’s agent forgot to register him for the tournament so he has to go through qualifying - oopsie!

The way the commentators were talking it sounded like he didn't sign up because he was waiting for a better offer from Beijing. And then the Tokyo tournament had an option to give him a wild card but decided not to.

Not a good day for Casper- lost to Darderi in Japan in his opening match in Japan. He risks dropping a lot more inthe rankings if he doesn't pick up some points soon (especially with the points from AO coming up- he will do well to repeat his run there ).

Carlos had a tight first set againsst Michelsen ,but the second is looking easier.

IceandIndigo · 01/10/2026 10:34

Carlos just can't seem to hold momentum in this match. Two double faults on break point now.

A lot of the Laver Cup players are struggling. It's a pretty brutal journey from London to Tokyo/Beijing.

IceandIndigo · 01/10/2026 10:50

Oh dear, third set now. Vamos Carlos!

I know- I jinxed him- as soon as I said he was doing better, it all started to go wrong!

IceandIndigo · 01/10/2026 10:59

Well to be fair he was up by a set and a break Raahh.

Up by a break in the third set now but his serve hasn't been firing so far.

IceandIndigo · 01/10/2026 11:06

Ok, double break now. Keep going Carlos.

Come on Carlos!

IceandIndigo · 01/10/2026 11:17

Well done Carlos. Vamos!

Good match from Alex.

IceandIndigo · 01/10/2026 11:54

Matteo is sopping wet. He looks like he's just been for a swim.

I am not complaining.

IceandIndigo · 01/10/2026 12:06

Matteo and ADF now one set apiece.

kazzaD66 · 01/10/2026 12:26

A lot of the Laver Cup bods have lost. Apart from those mentioned already, Fritz, Nakashima, Fery, Cobelli. Sascha and Demon are about the only ones to win. It seems it was too much of a rush between being in London on Sunday afternoon and having to play half way across the world on Thursday. Don't know when their flights were but clearly not enough time to acclimatise through several time zones.

Also, ADF and Rublev are both playing matches today, only two days after playing their respective finals! I can't keep up with the schedules. Finishing tournaments on a Tuesday, other tournaments starting on a Thursday Confused
Keith has retired, following his defeat in the Japan Open.

JaneJeffer · 01/10/2026 12:30

I was sad to see Holger got beaten in straight sets but hopefully it’s onwards and upwards. Weird to see his ranking at 188 Sad

JaneJeffer · 01/10/2026 12:34

Dani Vallejo is annoying the commentators with his bouncing. It seems to be their latest obsession.

JaneJeffer · 01/10/2026 12:36

He’s also letting the shot clock run down to the last second and they’re so mad about it Grin

JaneJeffer · 01/10/2026 12:36

It’s not affecting NuRafa anyway

JaneJeffer · 01/10/2026 12:44

Stupid Sky flitting around all over the place. Rafa had managed to break back but by the time I found him again Dani was about to win.

Well done Dani. Another Laver boy bites the dust.

IceandIndigo · 01/10/2026 12:56

Well done Matteo.

Raahh · 01/10/2026 14:32

Learner Tien lost to Hubi, I noticed.

I suppose , unless the Laver Cup in held in Asia, it's a lengthy flight where ever the players are coming from
Bublik/Mensik are going to cancel the Laver cup players out Grin.

JaneJeffer · 01/10/2026 14:43

Damn the ads. I want to hear Bublik’s chat with the umpire “it’s good that I don’t play in the casino” Grin

IceandIndigo · 01/10/2026 14:58

Whoever wins this match will play Fran Cerundolo, so at least someone with the Laver curse is making it to R3 Grin

IceandIndigo · 01/10/2026 15:02

The umpire chat was something like, "it's good that I don't go to the casino, because I'd be the unluckiest guy there. Every opponent I play, he serves 85% and he's basically Djokovic".
