TENNIS THREAD - hotdogs and weed, it must be the US Open

[ChessieFL]

I managed to close off the last thread without realising and couldn’t see a new one, so here you go!

Wtf Carlos!

This is tense.

VAMOS!

It's 5 points each.

well done Carlos.

Well done Carlos. Was score watching because of football which I’m sure Carlos is more interested in the outcome of than I am.

Carlos is funny-he plays great , and likes watching his own shots. Why not

Mark Petchey does talk rubbish.

Roget Federer, probably one ofthe best players ever, (and I'm not really a fan of his tennis)only became a Hall of Fame inductee this year.

I don't think Murray is getting there, anytime time soon.

Nacho Buse really is a sweetheart.

And does look about 12.

I’m off to the Laver Cup today, should be fun. We’re in the cheap seats and I’m slightly afraid because it says they’re not suitable for people with a fear of heights. I was hoping we’d get Casper and Carlos in doubles but we’ll have to settle for Flavio and Jakub.

Have a fantastic time ice!!

Have a great time Ice - hopefully the seats won’t be too scary!

I saw the tiebreak between Alcaraz and Fritz last night which was exciting - everyone seemed to be having lots of fun (apart from Taylor!) - I didn’t recognise Yannick Noah at first!

I might try and watch some of the matches today - it seems to mean a lot to the players but I’ve never really thought if it as a proper tournament

It was also good to see Roger and Andy in the crowd last night (with Roger’s mate Anna )

Yannick seems to have turned into Dev off Corrie

Have a lovely time Ice

have a great time Ice!

I don't get why they need to introduce the players in such a big way, as though people don't know who they are . It's day 3. Plus, anyone getting tickets must have some idea who they are there to see !

I'm flipping between this and the BJK Cup final- I would like Czechia to win. Karolina Muchova won the firstmatch, Linda Noskova has got things back on serve in the second.

Ha ha love Casper dissing Petch

4-4 come on 🇪🇺

I'm going out in a bit (pre- birthday lucch for dd2, who is 16 on Tuesday. not sure how that happened!)
Glad to see Europe have turnedd things around in this set.
Noskova a game away from winning things for Czechia.

But Elina has other idea. This set will probably go to a tie break.

Well done Linda, and Czechia. They were favourites from the start.

BJK didn't look too impressed .

Yay!

Flavio mustn’t want to jinx Team Europe

Sascha is finding Learner a tricky opponent who’s disrupting his rhythm.

The coaching is making me laugh. Tim is speaking to Sascha as if he’s a little boy who needs coaxing. Meanwhile on the other side Andre is saying nothing at all to Learner.

It is funny though that Sascha isn’t full of confidence having won two grand slams this year.

I’m not sure if Zverev is taking any notice of Tim! I thought he looked like he might punch him but yes he is strangely lacking in confidence even though he’s won two grand slams this year

Didn’t he beat Learner in the AO QF as well? He seems really scared of him

The old sorry not sorry

We need Roger and Rafa there to give him a proper pep talk
