Thought do a new thread for the new series and 40yrs of Casualty on bbc

Saturday BBC One's TV schedule now officially includes the double episode, with the two parts set to air back to back on Saturday 5 September at 8pm and 8.50pm.

The 40th anniversary will have a "huge firebomb" leaving several characters' fates hanging in the balance ……..

ScaredButUnavoidable - We noticed the constant refer to water, like it was a magic potion that would solve everything. Do any of you often struggle to hear the dialogue, it is very muffled. Then the background noise is too loud.

A hot summer wouldn't bugger it up.

The water in an old quarry would be really cold, especially once you’re a few metres down. It’s why there are so many deaths (usually youngsters) in a hot summer - cold water shock.

Yep, it’s true. They got engaged in January.

Oh I noticed the water bottles too, someone else was given a bottle too, can't remember who, I thought Siobhan had a stash and was on a mission to give them out. I watched wearing my noise cancelling headphones, more because everyone was in bed when I finally got round to watching and I didn't want to wake them and the beginning of it was a bit muffled, so glad I did as it was so much better hearing everything that was said and clear sounds.

There was so much emphasis on it I kept wondering if there was going to be some kind of hidden plot that the water bottles had been tampered with in some way (poisoned) and all the staff were going to start dropping like flies 🤣

I did have a brief thought that Dylan's actually had vodka in it and when Stevie swiped it it would cause an accident or something. Glad that didn't happen.

I thought the water was more to emphasise that once the patients started arriving, they wouldn’t have time to eat/drink/wee etc

Just checking in. I don't have time for a detailed comment as now late getting ready for work because I jist read all your comments. But I was also at the shouting at the house to leave me alone, shutting the living room door and howling at the TV state of emotion last night. Love love loved a classic casualty emergency. Poor Dylan. Everyone was so good. Although Charlie looked 15 years younger than when he left. I donknow how they managed that as he is actually old in real life and Ethan was looking quite hot. (I know i'm probably too old to say that about him!) Remind me - did he/does he have a child?

I can't believe we have to wait until January for the next series, and also a little concerned about them changing it too much (particularly cast changes and losing our favourites) when they move from Holby to a fictional Welsh hospital.

It also has a new producer and may be losing it's 12 week story arc, which is a shame as I think it really worked.

That being said, I thought the 40th anniversary episodes were absolutely brilliant. Credit and congratulations to everyone involved, particularly the techs, MUAs, stunt co-ords and cast, and the lovely William Beck.

I'm worried about the new context as well - it's always been Holby, why do they need to change the bedrock of the whole series? We all know it's filmed in Cardiff now, we all pretend not to see the occasional Welsh signage on the roads - I just don't see how the transition is going to be anything but hideously clunky. Are they going to go 'Oh, we've had to move to cover St James' area as well as ours, and we never thought to mention that the St James site was over the border - never mind, pass me a Welsh cake, bach'? I dunno - I don't handle change well, and I'm scared that it will be the beginning of the end.

It does seem a little weird that they didn't use the whole blowing up a hospital story line to wipe out Holby and thus at least give a reason for relocation. Are we going to get a convoluted St James have taken over the H.C. site so the Holby gang have all just happily moved to Wales (non)explanation?

Will we still get Holby sports teams/ stations etc used in plot lines or that all be replaced with a fictional Welsh equivalent?

It wasn't a bomb. It was an accidental explosion from the gas store on site (presumably oxygen)

Just come home from walking the dog and they are filming for Casualty about five minutes from my house! I didn't see anyone I 'knew' but I'm in Cardiff and there was a full crew there setting up for an incident with a car mounting the pavement, conveniently right outside our local police station, so I'm 99% sure it's Casualty. Most excitement I've had in months! I made DH drive past reeeeeally slowly on the off-chance that someone like Dylan would be there, but sadly not. I'll point out the scene when I spot it on telly.

It was announced about a second after Dylan had up-ended the “suspected bomb” bag when he was outside and surrounded by the Bomb Team. It came in as a message over one of their walkie-talkies so it would have been easy to miss.

Posting under a new user name as this may out me but regular poster on previous Casualty and Holby (relevant) threads!

Have only just caught up as we came home from Holland last weekend and as we travelled home on the boat I said to DH Hugh Quarshie is sat over there!! Then had to get massive Star Wars fan DS 15 past Captain Panaka without letting him go for a selfie (poor guy was eating his dinner!) then as we walked through the lounge they were playing Saturday’s episodes! I was tempted to go and ask him if he knew it was on but resisted 😂

Sorry for that post Casualty fans who never watched Holby but I had nowhere else to post it 😂
