Ria is a cracking actress ! She was far better than Jordan , but she is older.

Alucard55 · 12/08/2026 20:44

I think they wrote the Sheila stuff from today on the back of a fag packet. Kim and Denise see Jordan and Sheila in the crowd so the best thing to do is for Kim to push a wheelchair over to them. Of course you wouldn't say I'm going to run over and leave you here. I'm glad this nonsense with Shelia is over.

the80sweregreat · 12/08/2026 20:45

The hospital would be get cats bum about letting her back in I reakon! All those germs in a airport

Alucard55 · 12/08/2026 20:46

I think the Shelia stuff combined with Denise's illness takes away from what could be a realistic portrayal of it.

the80sweregreat · 12/08/2026 20:48

Of course nobody would chase off to an airport and in double quick time too. Let the police deal with it

Shellingbynight · 12/08/2026 21:10

That was a terrible episode. Awful script, awful plot. Denise trundled off double quick in a wheelchair to the airport, shouted a bit, and trundled back equally fast to the hospital. It was quite bizarre seeing Dee and Jordan both in wheelchairs at an airport. Sheila gave up easily didn't she, after all the trouble she went to.🙄

Zack said that 'Jordan is back home with his mum'. Then Kim said Chelsea was at the cop shop making a statement.

Even the teen stuff seemed to be written as 'oh-god-lets-get-this-plot-over-with'.

Anyonecanfallinlove · 12/08/2026 21:11

They should have left Denise out of the airport scene, there was no need to have her dragged there. Jack should have just had his phone turned off whilst in the hospital, focusing on his wife. Kim should have ran around by herself or with someone else possibly Libby, or has she left? I can't keep up with the comings and goings, its seems we have arrivals and departures every other episode

murasaki · 12/08/2026 21:14

Kim felt very wooden today, like she was phoning her lines in as the script was bollocks.

And there was me thinking the airport scenes were the briefly spoken of bucket list trip to Paris., which would have been nice but apparently Eastenders can’t do anything nice anymore.

They used to have such good balance of dramatic storytelling, awareness raising storylines and glimmers of niceness.

Shellingbynight · 12/08/2026 21:16

Libby has gone back home, and Kim and Jack are useless, it is true that the only person who can sort anything out in that family is Denise. But the whole Sheila kidnap idea was terrible and should have been thrown in the bin.

Eastie77Returns · 12/08/2026 21:43

It was the worst episode I’ve seen in a while. I felt sorry for the actors involved. What a pile of absolute nonsense. How did Shelia even kidnap Jordan from the community centre in full view of everyone? She is supposed to be an educated woman but thought she could care for a wheelchair bound child in Morocco…

It would not have been possible for Kim to just wheel someone as sick as Denise out of a hospital IRL but it is Walford General so anything goes. I’m sorry to say that the sight of both Denise and Jordan in wheelchairs made me laugh as the scene was so absurd. His acting continues to be terrible. Denise’s illness could have been poignant but it has now descended into farce.

Alucard55 · 12/08/2026 21:59

@Eastie77Returns so true it really has decended into a farce now.

The Kim actress probably read the script and went "do me a favour".

Shellingbynight · 12/08/2026 22:10

I agree Kim felt very wooden (although that isn't completely unusual for Kim!). But almost everyonelse did too. Even Dee who is usually very reliable. I think it is very hard for even good actors to deal with a script as bad as that.

How do you quickly kidnap a four year old in a wheelchair? Imagine the kerfuffle of getting the chair into the car.

It didn't feel like EastEnders at all today. It felt like what I imagine Hollyoaks to be like. No connection with real life at all.

Alucard55 · 12/08/2026 22:49

I think anyone who has dealt with unwell/disabled people and wheelchairs would be thinking really?

Anyonecanfallinlove · 12/08/2026 22:56

My dc walked through as I was watching it and they said "why are you watching an old lady wheelchair race" i did laugh, not that i was taking any of it seriously anyway

the80sweregreat · 13/08/2026 02:38

Old lady wheelchair race! Lol
All they needed was for penny to turn up too and could have had three of them there.

Shellingbynight · 13/08/2026 08:05

I've just realised it's only Thursday and there is another episode today. Surely it can't be as bad as yesterday's!

Southeastdweller · 13/08/2026 08:15

It was better. It looks like we’ve seen the last of Sheila and Amy confessed to the attack on Joel. I got a fraternal / protective vibe from Craig towards Amy. Great acting as usual from Laura Doddington.

Thanks South, it sounds worth watching.

They have done a real number on Amy.

Anyonecanfallinlove · 13/08/2026 09:00

I'm not sure I believe Amy, I wonder if she's saying it to protect Ricky. Not that I think he did it, but she's been worried about him getting blamed

Southeastdweller · 13/08/2026 09:12

I think she did do it and this whole story has been engineered to bring her closer to Craig, who she confessed to.

apologies can’t remember who said about giving notice on weddings but I’ve noticed that doesn’t seem to be a thing in tv world, the other thing is surprise weddings. How does that happen where one of them surprises the other, for very good reason you have to give notice and the registrar checks you aren’t being coerced and stuff right?

didn’t watch last night but glad they didn’t drag the Jordan kidnap on.

I’ve said before but they are showing that Amy is a Mitchell I think, with Sam gone it’s good to see, I know Nicola is one by marriage but I like this. Will they really go down the dodgy cop/grooming thing with all that’s going on at the minute IRL (and has indeed gone on forever)

lazymum99 · 13/08/2026 09:55

I hate saying this but although he is extremely cute looking Jordan’s acting is dire. He just puts on a gormless smiling face in answer to any questions. Never seems to say his words. Like when asked by Sheila have you been on a plane before - cue gormless smile and no answer. Surely ee could have found another kid

Shellingbynight · 13/08/2026 10:06

I agree Jordan is very cute and smiley, and I guess they chose a passive child who would sit nicely in a chair. But his acting skills are well hidden.

It was me who mentioned giving notice for weddings. I agree it will probably never be mentioned. But Max doesn't get married in September, he gets married on NYD, so something must happen to stop it.
