I've just read an article in the express that goes into more detail- it mentions both Gael and Matteo as players who have been missed out, but says Matteo is 'first alternate' should there be any withdrawals. Hmm.
Last minute dropouts are not unheard of, but it's still annoying.

Raahh · 16/06/2026 14:09

Joe Salisbury is pairing up with Rajeev Ram at Queen's - first match tomorrow. I really hope it works out. I think Joe has had struggles on and off the court, and could do with a break.

kazzaD66 · 16/06/2026 14:21

There's still almost a fortnight to go, so there's still time for withdrawals Raahh

I* *saw Joe up on the Queen's balcony at some point over the last few days. Can't remember the match, it may have been the women's final, otherwise it was JPJ yesterday.

IceandIndigo · 16/06/2026 14:36

Matteo will surely get in as first alternate. There are lots of players with injuries who have yet to be spotted during grass season. I guess the only problem is if they wait until the last minute to withdraw, and then the place would go to a qualifier instead.

Dan not getting one feels a bit political, I don't think he's all that popular with the tennis establishment. Maybe they also think he's not likely to be competitive in his current form, but it's not as though he'd be the first British WC to lose early.

Moutet got told off by the BBC for swearing in the post-match interview and responded by answering the next 2 questions with fck, fck, f*ck. Grin

I saw something about the BBC refreshing its Wimbledon presenters, I hoped that was code for getting rid of the butterfly fancier but I guess not.

The Times reporting that this will be Andrew Castle's last Wimbledon. Hallelujah!

Hurrah!

ADF is doing a lot of diving around. Grin

Raahh · 16/06/2026 19:01

Good start in the tie break from ADF .

Moutet has apologised t everyone concerned for his language apparently- and according to AC was a 'real gent' about it.

I don't think Annabel is easily won over!

Raahh · 16/06/2026 19:38

Well done to ADF- that was an excellent match from him. Wasn't much Norris would do.

Raahh · 16/06/2026 19:39
Grin He wrote 'dive' on the camera.

Hooray! But why not this year? Kind of weird for them to be announcing it a year in advance.

It does seem a bit strange - but maybe the BBC think that after 23 years , some people might care Grin. Reading an article, AC seems quite pragmatic (hasn't much choice)- I think he realises he has had a good run.

Even Dh was laughing today when he saw AC, John Lloyd and Claire in the studio, and they all looked like they had been to the same hairdresser.

With the BBC however, there is always the worry that they will replace people with worse. This shake up might not go the way we want. I feel like it could be slippery slope to Wimbledon ending up being taken over by TNT.

Are you not al going to miss him??

TNT are fine - they use proper commentators, like Nick Lester. They had Jim Courier for some of RG this year, and he is excellent - although they did also have Mac, and he talks far too much.
The problem with the BBC's tennis coverage is that it is for people who only watch during Queens and Wimbledon, ie "3 week tennis fans". So it is patronising, gossipy and many of those involved are not up to speed and don't know half of the players. We know the Club wants to shake it up, so I just hope they mean in a "be more informed and professional" way.

Even though we think Casper already got married, he definitely got married this time Grin

Grin Lovely pictures- good Idea to plan a wedding during his least favourite part of the season!
IceandIndigo · 17/06/2026 09:19

What a lovely (and expensive) wedding! Maria looks gorgeous, I really like that orange dress.

Raahh · 17/06/2026 09:44

It was a wise move to have the fancy party when Casper's hair had grown back Grin.

It was a very good looking wedding all round. I didn't look like that 5 months after my first baby. But I didn't look like that before either Grin.
