Wimbledon almost always give the majority of wildcards to British players- last year they made an exception for Petra Kvitova, as she was retiring (and was a two time champion).

I'm not sure 'has-been who made the final and did a a bit of commentary' really counts as a reason to give Dick a wc. Wouldn't put it past them though. Surely , they could only justify a doubles one?

It is really unfair Jane. Not convinced Harriet Dart was more deserving than her. They say they want to prioritise British players but I suspect Tatjana would have got one if she were a better known player.

Tatjana said she was quite shocked to get the phone call, and finds it a bit disespectful. In all honesty, she might not half any years left on the tour- so it would have been nice to give her a WC.

Queen's are renowned for being inflexible though- it's why a certain Mr Federer chose to play in Halle , after being denied a WC early on.
