Watching at tv pace , it doesn’t end for ages , but as it’s all on I player obviously some may have watched it all.
I admit that I’ve been at a loose end and needed something to watch this week.
What do others think ? I did enjoy it. It was a strange drama and I can’t tell if it was satire or a black comedy or just the holiday from hell! Or all three.
The policeman made me laugh ( how lovely was he) and a few quips. Some really good acting too.
I feel guilty for binging it.

I’m checking on as I’m on the last episode but will come back to chat

Tigresswoods · 28/05/2026 18:35

Watched the last one today. Every episode I was wondering how things could possibly get worse.

I'm going to think very carefully about goon holiday with any of our couple friends!

🐐

There’s another thread running on this.

There’s another thread running on this.

That’s the thread for people who’re watching weekly until July 4th. This thread is for those of us who’ve watched it all, or who don’t mind spoilers.

reachoutandtouch · 28/05/2026 18:54

Finished it today, have no idea what I thought of it!

Uniaccomm · 28/05/2026 18:57

I really enjoyed it. But did wonder what it was that the rich British woman was saying in that raspy voice in Greek when she was on top of the cliff area with Zoe? Anyone know?

the80sweregreat · 28/05/2026 18:58

Each episode was its own film in a way.
I did find bits funny.
’ oh, your a policeman . ‘
‘.. yes ‘
‘ don’t play with any more dead things ‘
‘ I had him tested for ADHD and he failed ‘
Dolly wells as Flick was amazing. Those two were so creepy. I really hope Avery didn’t have sex with the creepy man :(
Poor Goat and Jon.

Why do you feel guilty about binging the show @the80sweregreat ?

MyballsareSandy2015 · 28/05/2026 19:00

Odd but watchable. Nightmare group of friends!

the80sweregreat · 28/05/2026 19:00

Looked up Gnothi Seauton, ‘know thy self. ‘
She didn’t have a pregnant goat though !

the80sweregreat · 28/05/2026 19:01

I shouldn’t binge these things, leaves me nothing to watch later on ! ( although I did start ‘ the responder ‘ a much different drama to this one.

Ok

TheTortiePuffinNeedsHerBreakfast · 28/05/2026 19:28

I enjoyed it, but all the simmering little tensions are so stressful. And so many near -miss negligence incidents. Loved the policeman scenario though. How awful are the hedonistic couple? That party scene was excruciating!

fundamentallyauthentic · 28/05/2026 19:44

I wish they’d cast an actress who was 16 - 18 to play Avery. The scene with her and James just didn’t have the right impact with an actress visibly into her 20s.

bornwithhorns · 28/05/2026 19:48

Dolly wells made it for me !
I really didn’t like her ( Zoe’s ) husband ( was it Dan ? )

the80sweregreat · 28/05/2026 19:48

I felt sorry for the children :(
None of them caught the sun because it wasn’t that hot. In real life they would have been burnt to a crisp with all the wandering about in the heat , sometimes without a hat or water! The island on fire went lord of the flies at the end. Didn’t stop the posh party though did it !

OP posts:
the80sweregreat · 28/05/2026 19:49

I think Flicks husband was James.
She wasn’t in that much, but she was good.

OP posts:
Tigresswoods · 28/05/2026 21:38

And James was played by Jessica Raine IRL Husband.

Meredusoleil · 28/05/2026 23:13

Omg thank you for this thread!

Can't remember which episode I am on but have just finished the one with the party and I was like wtaf have I just seen - 4 gay men having an orgy and a party host setting up 2 women who hate each other to snog their faces off in front of one of their husbands 😳

I am feeling very sad and sorry for Solomon right now. He's the only one. What is going on with Zoe? Has she really gone off with the young lad that Avery had her eye on?

But that's not even the worst part for me. That honour goes to that jarring violin music that keeps playing like it's going backwards - it really hurts my ears!

When I started watching this, I thought it was going to be like the other drama called something like The holiday where a group of friends go away together and then end up hiding a murder and other secrets cie tumbling out.

This is something else altogether imho and I'm really not sure I like it much tbh. I just hope the ending will be satisfactory and close the story up nicely 🤞

agggtm · 29/05/2026 09:48

I enjoyed the tension/fallout of the couples on holiday but the naked women who kept appearing was weird and the dead goat was awful. And why did Solomon want to kiss her when she had been in water with a dead goat, held a dead goat and spent hours wandering in blazing heat. She must have stunk.!
Dan was awful, treated Zoe like crap and then made her to be the bad guy when she ended the marriage.

fundamentallyauthentic · 29/05/2026 09:57

Zoe was a bit of a martyr, really. And quite insufferable. “I will always be more tired than you!” she screamed at Dan. Yawn.

It’s almost like the writer had been reading threads on the Relationships board on here…

MulberryBrandy · 29/05/2026 12:03

I don't see why this series would not have been good but it was all too clunky for me. Summed up best by the two rowing boats at the end. Dan's was smooth and elegant with strong oars. Zoe was left to struggle with an inflatable to take herself and the two children.

neverbeenskiing · 29/05/2026 14:41

I enjoyed it on the whole but I don't think it needed to be 8 episodes long. It definitely dragged in places.

I thought there were some genuinely funny moments of social satire, like "I had him tested for ADHD and he failed" and the scene where Jacob and Nat are talking about how it's "so important to be aware of your own privilege" in life while they pour litres of bottled water over each other to cool down.

I also thought it was quite an interesting take on 'affluent neglect'. Those kids were privileged on the face of it but left to their own devices by parents who were too self-involved to put them first or be properly present with them. There were so many times I thought something terrible was going to happen to one of the children but instead, calamity after calamity kept be-falling the adults and the kids just sort of got on with it.

I also liked the ending. It would have infuriated me if Zoe and Dan had decided to stay together after all of that!

AnnPerkins · 29/05/2026 14:57

I thought I had seen it described as a psychological thriller. It wasn't that, more of a holiday from hell/relationship drama. Quite entertaining over all though.
