Watching at tv pace , it doesn’t end for ages , but as it’s all on I player obviously some may have watched it all.
I admit that I’ve been at a loose end and needed something to watch this week.
What do others think ? I did enjoy it. It was a strange drama and I can’t tell if it was satire or a black comedy or just the holiday from hell! Or all three.
The policeman made me laugh ( how lovely was he) and a few quips. Some really good acting too.
I feel guilty for binging it.

Didn’t they ask the rich couple about a rescue service for Jess and they laughed ? I’m sure that someone mentioned it, but then none of them seemed that worried about her really. I thought it wouldn’t transpire that she made it up for effect and went into hiding for a few hours ( because she had kissed dan ) but no , they just seemed to shrug it off and the incident was never mentioned again was it! It was a big thing to do as well.

They film in Malta as it’s cheaper apparently and they allow them the licence to do it ( so I’ve read )

I think she was seeing her mum and herself as a little girl. She looked like she was holding the Greek myths book.
I would have been terrified of that approaching fire and got straight on the first tourist boat wherever it was going!
You didn’t see any firefighting going on. They usually send the small planes over that dump the water on the fires.

Yes I liked the mum and Zoe meeting, reminded me of Neighbours with Susan’s dream in Africa in a way

JanFebAndOnwards · Yesterday 09:21

Yes those kids were not realistic, they barely even argued!

JanFebAndOnwards · Yesterday 09:22

Apparently the weather was really cold while they were filming, they had to have hot water bottles at points!
No wonder they didn’t look sweaty.

the80sweregreat · Yesterday 09:37

The lack of hats annoyed me. Most of them would have ended up with sun stroke if it had been a real Greek island in August! Zoe went off without water or a hat or sunscreen on her own , however upset you were , you just wouldn’t do this. I know that it wasn’t real.
I did enjoy it though. At least nobody died and covered it up , which is how these things usually go.

Just watching it and nearly finished.

I think the thing about Zoe seeing the 3 women was a reference to the hag, daughter and mother rather than her mother?

Although could be both, perhaps!

JanFebAndOnwards · Yesterday 17:13

Her mother turns up in the last or penultimate episode, @Orangesandlemons77

ConstantlyFuriosa · Yesterday 17:31

I enjoyed it but I’m not sure why the maiden of the Moirai had to have her tits out all the time.

Meredusoleil · Yesterday 17:33

I think this series was all about a group of very privileged and entitled people taking it in turns to throw their toys out of their prams at different points in time.

They all had issues (I mean let's face it, who doesn't?) But more than just your everyday ones imho.

By the end, I actually felt a bit sorry for Dan. Zoe was still a psycho bitch if you ask me. But I liked the 2 most straight talking characters of Nat and Jess. Despite them both appearing very manipulative in the beginning.

In summary, it's not really my kind of series. I was just hoping for lovely scenes of Gozo and a good holiday feeling vibe. It's actually put me off ever doing that kind of thing now!

the80sweregreat · Yesterday 17:46

Jess redeemed herself by warning Zoe that she’d always be the co star in any relationship with Solomon ( I am paraphrasing, but that’s what she meant )
I can imagine she won’t heed this warning , but I like to think that she may just go it alone and keep Solomon in the friends zone maybe? Jess will dump him , but he could win her round maybe ? I’m not sure with any of those what will happen there. He’ll go off to do his film and leave them all to it anyway! Avery will continue to have relationships with older men. Nat will be ok I’m sure , maybe meet a nice Greek man to help with the bills and renovations.

I think the plot needed it once the nanny had done a bunk. 😉

ConstantlyFuriosa · Yesterday 19:14

Probably!

Re Jess’s ‘warning’ to Zoe about Solomon. I took that as her way of trying to put Zoe off. I can’t see her leaving him given the choice. She likes the status and money too much.

Meredusoleil · Yesterday 19:20

I think Zoe won't get together with Sol. I think she's realised she needs to be alone for awhile. As does he. I think he will go to LA and do the film as he was so happy to get the part.

I was very surprised at Avery in the last episode. I actually thought she was a bit more level headed than to want to go off with that twisted older guy.

There really were no good people there like Jon/Junis said.

fundamentallyauthentic · Yesterday 19:23

There were no good people and there were no bad people. I thought the characterisation was generally very well done, considering how many characters there were and the six hour running time.

the80sweregreat · Yesterday 19:24

Avery disappointed me too. My only hope was they didn’t have time to do much as Nat found the yacht keys fairly quickly and she wasn’t getting dressed or anything. I had hoped she had more sense too as she seemed level headed and kind. Maybe it was just a distraction technique, but who knows with these people!

Avery became level headed! She was mooning after Jon - but once she realised that wasn’t happening she shrugged her shoulders and got on with arranging the experience she needed for the purpose of sharing with her mates once home. It didn’t need to be someone she was madly in love with - just someone she could tell interesting stories about.

the80sweregreat · Yesterday 20:41

Blossom, I didn’t think of that re Avery , but your right. She will chase older men to have a new dad I suppose :(
another one that Solomon has messed up by being absent.

That's just sad imho.

And the moral of the story is .... just have a game of backgammon with your child.

Was confused about Zoe’s dress to the party , Dan implied she had stolen Jess’s money to buy it but where did she actually buy it from on the island or did I misunderstand

When they first all go together to the market, to buy the fish, they meet the rich couple and the dress is hanging there on a stall.

Meredusoleil · Yesterday 21:46

But do we know for sure Zoe stole that money? I mean I think so. But that would have been before the 'kiss' between Dan and Jess, which I thought was the catalyst that started the whole chain of events and ended in Zoe 'finding herself' and wanting to be 'true to herself'?!?

the80sweregreat · Today 12:54

I was confused by the money theft and the dress buying. I guess there was a time before the fancy dress party that they actually got on for five minutes and Zoe sloped off to buy the dress.
