What tv shows would you cancel?

There are so many long running boring tv shows that dominate the schedules and the budgets of the channels. What would you get rid of? Yes I’m bored.

The one show - first against the wall
Pointless
house of games - Richard osman is leaving and they’ve surely had every “celebrity” twice
Strictly - give us a two year break, minimum
Bake off - again, we need a bit of a break, though I will watch it
Britain’s got talent - please no more
master chef - it’s just so dull watching the same challenges again and again. Either totally revamp the format or give up
The Apprentice - enough.
Celebrity antiques road trip
Flog it
great British menu

it is all just so repetitive and boring. I know no one under thirty watches tv, but you can see why?!

I must say that having Masterchef and Great British Menu on at the same time is a bit annoying.

pouletvous · 03/03/2026 16:07

💯 agree

FurForksSake · 03/03/2026 16:09

@CarlaH it’s so much air time, we really don’t need both (or either…) at the same time. I just don’t know who plans it all.

Mrs Browns Boys - just why?

FurForksSake · 03/03/2026 16:09

Oh good god, is Mrs browns boys still on?!

WonderingWanda · 03/03/2026 16:11

Death in Paradise what a load of rubbish.

BillericayDickie · 03/03/2026 16:13

anything with Ant and Dec in it.

Astra53 · 03/03/2026 16:14

Mrs Brown's Boys. How this got to be shown in the first place is a complete mystery!

Verarubinrules · 03/03/2026 16:17

BillericayDickie · 03/03/2026 16:13

anything with Ant and Dec in it.

That’s what I was going to say. I mean who do they do favours for, why do they keep getting jobs. Unfathomable.

Coffeeishot · 03/03/2026 16:18

I agree about Bake off it is dire now although i like the celeb version.

FurForksSake · 03/03/2026 16:20

Can we also bin off comic relief and children in need? The celebrities that appear can all donate and we won’t need to be guilted into buying some tat with the promise of a short sketch sandwiched between tragedies.

Good job there are millions of channels and streaming services so we don’t have to watch things we don’t like 🤷‍♀️😆

Rainydaycat · 03/03/2026 16:24

Masterchef
Bargain Hunt
Homes Under The Hammer
Pointless
Tipping Point
The One Show
Anything with Michael McIntyre in it; deeply unfunny prick

GrillaMilla · 03/03/2026 16:26

Love Island
The One Show

APurpleSquirrel · 03/03/2026 16:26

I would add in:
Love Island
Im a Celebrity
Made in Chelsea & other iterations
and most soaps tbh

Autumnyears · 03/03/2026 16:29

Call the midwife. Run its course. Xmas 'special ' was dire

taxguru · 03/03/2026 16:29

Anything with Ant & Dec, Alan Carr, Claudia Winkleman and other "non" slebs.

Most game shows particularly pointless, weakest link, etc.

Most UK written "dramas" which usually take at least six episodes to tell a simple story that could have been done in one, filled out by lots of pointless/irrelevant back stories, long lingering images of cars travelling on country roads, lots of lingering "tear" shots, etc.

Dragons' den, Apprentice, etc.

Most soaps, particularly the awful Corry.

Homes under the hammer, antiques road trip, all other tedious antique programme.

Britains' got talent and other talent shows.

RedRiverShore6 · 03/03/2026 16:35

Probably Pointless, then I wouldn't have to sit through it each evening as DH likes it. Not bothered about anything else as I can avoid it

dayswithaY · 03/03/2026 16:38

Eastenders - about as far removed from everyday life in East London as you can get.

Saturday Kitchen/Brunch whatever it’s called - mindnumbing C list guests promoting their latest book or show with “chat” that could be from the 1980s.

Line of Duty - overblown ridiculous drama with serious faces and shouting.

A “celebrity” goes abroad ie, a road trip around Spain, cycling in the Alps, a culinary tour of India with hilarious scenes in a market place etc, so dull.

WatchingWong · 03/03/2026 16:40

I’m getting pretty sick of everything having to be a celebrity version. Much prefer regular people on quizzes and documentaries etc. So celebrity anything, I suppose.

zurigo · 03/03/2026 16:42

All the above, plus Goggle Box. A TV programme where you WATCH OTHER PEOPLE WATCHING TV AND COMMENTING ON IT 🤯

butimamonstersaidthemonster · 03/03/2026 16:44

not to be a killjoy but why do they bother you? I wouldn’t cancel anything because someone must be enjoying it and I don’t have to watch if I don’t want to.

surrealpotato · 03/03/2026 16:46

I never watch anything I don't want to watch so wouldn't feel the need to cancel them, although surely BGT has run its course by now?

thinkofsomethingdifferent · 03/03/2026 16:48

Tipping Point. The constant “fire it up” has me nearly tipping over the edge.

And any celebrity travel programmes, like that with Bradley Walsh and his son. Why can’t they look for “normal” families who would never ordinarily get the chance to roadtrip/visit places? Where’s the sense of normality?

notmuchtoit · 03/03/2026 16:48

I only watch programmes I enjoy so I wouldn't cancel any that others like watching.
