What tv shows would you cancel?

There are so many long running boring tv shows that dominate the schedules and the budgets of the channels. What would you get rid of? Yes I’m bored.

The one show - first against the wall
Pointless
house of games - Richard osman is leaving and they’ve surely had every “celebrity” twice
Strictly - give us a two year break, minimum
Bake off - again, we need a bit of a break, though I will watch it
Britain’s got talent - please no more
master chef - it’s just so dull watching the same challenges again and again. Either totally revamp the format or give up
The Apprentice - enough.

Agree with all the above except Flog It. Although the format is repetitive at least they have different treasures for sale each time.

I'm a celebrity ,it's beyond me how anyone can watch that puriel shit and those two cunts!!

All of these plus love island. Utter trash.

None, because I can appreciate that different people like different things. A lot of shows mentioned here are ones I watch regularly, so I’d be annoyed if they were cancelled just to please people who could just…turn over!
Love Strictly, Apprentice, Corrie and yes, anything with Ant and Dec in it. Hate Mrs Browns Boys but wouldn’t cancel it as my dad loves it, I’ll just not watch!

I stopped watching that years ago, call the depression more like.

Love island

Same joke structure reworked every episode. Fake (feck) swearing to make it edgy and leaving in bloopers to boost the laughs.

If it wasn't for the rampant nepotism lining each others pockets, it'd probably have tanked years ago.

I admire the hustle though 😂

What I don't understand is why when Wimbledon, Olympics, World Cup etc is on BBC doesn't use BBC3 and BBC4 more. Offer an alternative to those who don't want to watch. I love Wimbledon but it gets a bit much with BBC 1&2 having back to back tennis and for those who don't like tennis it must be dire.. Hate football, love some Olympics but please offer those who don't an alternative

I've never watched Love Island, all these ones where they get married and never met before - don't appeal. I did like the one where two teams end up on different islands (Survivor???) but that has probably run it's course
So bored with cookery programs there are so many and it's endless, we have a final and then it starts again the next week
Casualty - many moons ago when I used to watch it used to have a break for 6 months but now it's constant and they must have covered every storyline under the sun
The One Show
Mastermind - they don't get very high scores anymore
The show with Victoria Corren - please get rid of her and find a new person
Ant and Dec the most talentless people I have ever seen
I don't watch any of the soaps, I found the characters in them very unpleasant people and the glorifying of people being nasty not a good example

I used to love Call the midwife, but it’s gone on far too long long. Hopefully this is the last series.

It certainly does feel like there are a lot of shows on the main channels that have been running for two decades now and not much fresh is coming through. Perhaps the biggest newer shows are Traitors and Masked Singer.

I’m shocked that Strictly, Apprentice, Masterchef, Call the Midwife and BGT still have big audiences - they are so repetitive and boring now

Last night I watched Simon Scharmer on bbc4, talking about his History of Britain, where he referenced the big history programmes like Descent of Man and Civilisation and was told then that those types of programmes had had their day and the public wanted fly on the wall shows instead. I think the public has been guided away from "deeper" programming in favour of cheap, easy, flashy entertainment. Don't get me wrong, there was utter shite produced in the past too, but apart from a few standout shows, nuance, quality and depth are sadly lacking.

Sunday Brunch - just a load of woke nonsense now and can't cope with Tim Lovejoy desperately trying to be trendy.

Great British Menu - can't stand the fact that every meal is presented in a bloody suitcase or Andi Oliver dressed as though she's in 1920s Hollywood wafting a fan around.

BGT - Just the same old acts over and over again. Dance troupes, pub singers, average magician / flame thrower / comedian...

Anything with Ant and Dec presenting, particularly I'm a Celebrity - such a tired format and unlikeable people.

Football, darts, snooker, horse racing, motorsport, rugby - or put it on BBC3 or 4.

All talent shows.

I wish we had more British produced shows - I used to love Hustle and New Tricks - there's nothing like either of them now.

Any shows with gratuitous sex scenes - I really don't want to see people writhing around when I'm eating my dinner.

I do love Pointless and Alexander Armstrong though - and I quite like Bradley Walsh!

All the exploitative “point and laugh at the ugly poor people” stuff - 600lb life, benefit street, wife swap etc

the weekday morning EDL-pandering crap - bailiffs, crooks, squatters, benefit cheats etc

People hunting for homes here or abroad. Same old same old.

We quite enjoy property shows for the Shout at the Telly value..

"So, Pam and Geoff, you're looking for a 3 bed apartment with outside space and a pool, 2 minutes from the beach in the popular resort of Playa del Expensivo and your budget is £30,000. I've certainly got my work cut out"

They're shown probably the only properties remotely within budget then moan about a kitchen that's a bit dated but serviceable needing "too much work" or "I'm just not feeling it, Jean. It hasn't got the wow factor".

Special mention to the new quiz show on bbc1 with Vernon Kaye, think its called Where the fuck am I? Utter filler drivel made only to make Vern a bit richer.
