I don't find the episodes too short at all, 23 minutes is plenty!

They couldn't make it more obvious that Jim is Ben's dad if they announced it on the 10 o'clock news.

The girl Shona was talking to had been looked after by her, so I assume Jodie was a nanny/childminder. Maybe Jodie shagged the dad which is why she suddenly left. She seems to have a thing about splitting up happy families.

I cannot work out why Jodie has any beef with Bernie. Has Bernie annoyed her recently, or does she know her from the past? But the stuff in the box seems to be 'trophies' like those kept by serial killers.

But my main question is, does no one ever hoover under that settee??

Clawdy · 25/02/2026 08:43

I assumed Jodie was lying to the girl about witness protection, so she wouldn't tell anyone where Jodie is. She's obviously hiding a weird past.

JewelleryCat · 25/02/2026 08:49

@HurdyGurdy19 I watch Emmerdale and no, Jodie hasn’t been mentioned on there either. The writers have probably forgotten about it lol when us viewers haven’t

Shellingbynight · 25/02/2026 08:56

Even Olivia didn't believe the witness protection bunkum - "but they let you have a dog??" 😆

Lorrymum · 25/02/2026 09:01

So Jodie is some kind of strange trophy hunter from anyone who upsets her.. She is now my number one suspect for the theft of Brian's book.

the80sweregreat · 25/02/2026 09:12

If trophy hunting from those who upset you is an actual thing I’d have to buy a new cupboard to put them in ! 😂
I’ve heard of serial killers doing it. I thought maybe she had murdered someone ? Or may she will !

eggandonion · 25/02/2026 09:51

Was the Kabin closed when the book was stolen? Too many weird things going on. Gary needs to beat someone up just for normality.

LesserSpottedCharacter · 25/02/2026 10:03

Did that wee girl say she'd seen Jodie when she was on a coach tour? What coach tour is going to be going round there? Apart from the RL Corrie tours, obvs. It's not unlike Dr Harper finding his way to Roy's Rolls en route to the hospital Confused

1reason · 25/02/2026 10:05

I have watched tonight's episode and think that too many stories are being covered in just 22 minutes.
There is a blend of old and new, light hearted and more serious.
In truth, Corrie probably has too many characters and issues now. In the golden era, there was a solid core of Street residents and Rovers regulars complemented by factory staff and others.

The book was in the box, hidden under the settee that time forgot, wasn't it ?
I may have lost interest at that point, I often do these days.

bizzey · 24/02/2026 23:01

Come on you lot ..

I am sure not so long ago we were all moaning about the the episodes being too long !! 🤣

Edited

😆 I think it's a case of 'be careful what you wish for!! 😆

Somewhere in between would be OK. Even actually half an hour! It presents as being on from 8.30pm to 9pm, (so like half an hour,) but the episode length is actually 22-23 minutes. As has been said, too many storylines in too short a time, and it's feeling 'rushed.'

HurdyGurdy19 · 25/02/2026 08:10

I am finding it so hard to keep up with Corrie these days.

Those of you who also watch Emmerdale - has Jodie ever been mentioned since the Corriedale episode? Wasn't she being held hostage in a vehicle during that episode?

Who is the young girl (Olivia) she was talking to? Olivia said "why did you go", or words to that effect. And that Jodie was looking after her and her sister. In Emmerdale? Or over that way? In which case, why was Olivia in Weatherfield? Wouldn't she be living in/near Emmerdale? Was Jodie a nanny? Stepmother? And just coincidence that they were both at those shops at the same time?

What is Mal's connection to Inverness? Is that where he and Alice live? Lived?

If speculation about Big Jim being Ben's dad is correct, then I can't believe they're doing ANOTHER wrong dad storyline.

It's astonishing that such a small street can have so many psychos lurking!

Exactly! So many unanswered questions!

I agree. Even though it's starting a bit of a decline in Classic Corrie (as many have said, it started when the Connors came in,) it's still better back in 2008 (where Classic Corrie is now.) Solid and believable storylines, engaging characters, humour, and new characters being built up and just popping in and out of scenes, over a number of months - and not instantly getting involved in a big storyline. Is there even any storylines now in the factreh?

.

Shellingbynight · 25/02/2026 10:32

The only time we see the factreh is the office with Carla/Sarah, we don't see the machinists at work nowadays do we?

There are definitely too many characters. I thought they were trying to save money yet the newbies keep turning up.

zanahoria · 25/02/2026 10:45

The Factory should have been closed decades ago, totally unrealistic that a few knicker stitchers compete with mega factories in China

Shellingbynight · 25/02/2026 10:48

Yes agreed, the factreh wouldn't exist nowadays.

eggandonion · 25/02/2026 11:33

Nobody design knickers any more. There used to be a design led knicker input when Mike was in charge. Angie mostly. And Fizz was quite arty. Then Michael or James did some design. And Alya had a fashion degree.
Now Carla is in her office and Kirk has boxes. Liam used to go to Wolverhampton and places. And trade fairs. Good old days.
Jodie is organising a time capsule.

AmusedMaker · 25/02/2026 11:53

I wonder who’ll find Jodie’s box of villainous secrets? I mean it’s not particularly that well hidden. My money’s on David the dog.

1reason · 25/02/2026 12:06

@AmusedMaker
Jodie is like a magpie! Wonder how long she has been collecting mementoes.
Surprised the box of delights made it to Weatherfield after her fleeing in Corriedale.
It is definitely not hidden away, so surprised no Platts have found it so far.
Where is Audrey?!

Shellingbynight · 25/02/2026 12:07

Well it won't be Invisible Audrey who finds the box! I do wonder what the point was of her buying the house so she's effectively a fixture on the Street, and then disappearing for months.

I know Steve has got his new 'bro' Ben, but he did not even mention Andy did he? Dad is seriously ill in hospital yet it didn't cross his mind to tell his twin.

😂 And he's called this, so no-one thinks he's a cat!

Put me in mind of Neil, The Baby, in Gavin and Stacey! 😆

@eggandonion @Shellingbynight @zanahoria I reckon you all have a good point about the factreh. It would - in reality - have closed some 20 years ago. As many companies now (even M & S who used to use Bairdwear for their clothes) get most of their stock from overseas countries like China, Taiwan, Bangladesh, and India.

eggandonion · 25/02/2026 13:19

Baby David in the Royles! Hilda would have found the box when she was giving the place a good bottoming.
When I was at primary school a lot of mummies were stitchers in the ladybird factory. I thought it sounded like a great job...until I was older and my mother's friend told us that her daughter worked as a hankie folder in the gift box department. Realistically those days are 50 years ago!

SabreIsMyFave · 25/02/2026 13:32

Oh yeah, and Baby David too! 😆

We should start a campaign to get rid of the short episodes. They’re so flitty, it’s as though every scene lasts 2 minutes. This is Corrie for the TikTok generation. I can really see myself giving up on it for good very soon.

Yes I agree. It feels to me almost like they forgot that after the Corriedale episode they were going to have to do shorter episodes and just carried on filming 30 min/1 hour episodes and now are going through them heavily editing them for the highlights for the shorter time window!

I find sometimes the episodes don’t flow well now because you might see a character in one location, then there will be a very short scene with another character/s and the next scene can have the original character in a totally different location or different outfit and it makes it feel more unrealistic IYSWIM. I also think they are giving too much screen time to the new vile characters and are forgetting about the main cast a bit. It feels a bit like when the old soap “Family Affairs” (anyone remember that?) killed off the entire huge family cast and replaced them with people from the area instead. It’s like they have moved away from what gave Corrie it’s appeal.
