Mal is dreadful.

Bernie is panicking.

Ma Driscoll is horrendous.

Kit is still fit.

Ronnie and Kevin's new double act is quite entertaining!

A quick Google search will explain..

Is it about the potholes and the police thought he was drunk but he was just avoiding the potholes?

No 🤡 much more personal than that.

(child he's never met)

No more comments on that from me. 🫤

Oh that. Thats known about and I’m sure it’s been mentioned in a few tabloid articles

JewelleryCat · 23/02/2026 16:32

I don’t think this article from DS has any spoilers but be careful clicking the link anyway

Unless they've committed a serious crime, I don't care about their personal lives. Everyone has history.

Agree. So he had a one night stand many years ago, hardly crime of the century. Unfortunately for him it resulted in a baby (although the mother might not see it that way) and he has paid maintenance since.

One night stand and a baby from that is one thing and I fully agree not the crime of the century and paying child support is doing the right thing. The sad part is that he's never met the child or had any contact. I would like that last part to be inaccurate but the articles state it's true.

Isn’t that quite common for children of one night stands though?

TipsyPeachSnake · 23/02/2026 18:14

I watch the days Corrie during my lunch break (when working from home) just don’t have the willpower to wait until evening. 😀

Empress13 · 23/02/2026 21:00

Pray tell what was distressing about that episode? it seems that before every flamin episode we get the ‘you may find some scenes distressing’ never got that in Corrie Classic!

Shellingbynight · 23/02/2026 21:03

So suddenly Jim is back in the picture, so he is. What a coincidence.

I find Mal unwatchable, I did some fastforwarding of those scenes and just read the subtitles.

But why did Bernie not PUT ON A BLOODY LIGHT!

the80sweregreat · 23/02/2026 21:17

Poor Bernie. He is a complete pyscho isn’t he :(
Claire Sweeney’s accent sounds a bit dodgy. Has she been in it long ?

I must admit, this drives me crazy! Almost every single show now has 'if you have been affected by anything on the show, blah blah blah' - even Coronation Street... EVERY TIME ... And yeah, they also always 'you may find some scenes distressing' before every episode of Coronation Street too, and 9 times out of 10 there is nothing distressing. Occasionally there is, but often there is not. Do they think we are all so fragile now? Confused

Agree about Mal. How the hell is he obsessed and in love? He had an all night (well - part night) bender with Bernie ONCE. He was all aggressive and sinister last week, and this week he is all 'I LUV YOOOOOOOOU!'

WTF?

rainbowruthie · 23/02/2026 21:29

Well I think I have been affected Grin by far too many nasty characters and nasty stories - however, I will probably manage without any help Grin

Shellingbynight · 23/02/2026 21:31

Mal makes me absolutely shudder, so I suppose that could = distressing!

80s I think Claire Sweeney is just doing her normal accent, the character has only been in Weatherfield for a couple of years.

He's vile isn't he? (Mal!) 😖

Mal has turned into a psycho overnight. When he spent that evening with Bernie, taking drugs, drinking and listening to trance music, he seemed very unimpressed by her. She was doing all the talking and he just sort of sat there, barely looking at her.

Every scene with Mal in it

Another of Corrie's pop up bad guys

Are they just trying to make them as ridiculous as possible now?

Myrealnameisbetty · 23/02/2026 22:17

On the night of Bernie and Mal's drunken partying then ending up in the hotel room I thought perhaps it was going to turn into a rape storyline. Relieved to learn it didn't but tonight's once again looked like it could go that way. If Kit hadn't turned up how much danger Bernie was in then seeing Jodie being followed ... it's all looking very dark and doom laden even if I'm on the wrong track.

zanahoria · 23/02/2026 22:30

Bernie should just inform her huge copper son

She is probaby scared that it will get out that she spent the night with Mal. 😬

Dev knows about the 'drug' taking, but I don't think he knows that she was with Mal all night does he?

@SabreIsMyFave I don’t know if you watch Emmerdale but it gets said before that too, either “scenes of distress” or “scenes of violence” and when the programme ends, I’m left thinking “where was the distress or violence”

sorryIdidntmeanto · 23/02/2026 22:58

Carla has always been my favourite. I love her and Hope and Todd and Tracy and Debbie and Christina and Roy and Ryan.

I like Eva and Sally and Tim and Bernie and Kit and David and Shona and Steve and Cassie and Tyrone and Asha and Carl and Ronnie and Michael and Evelyn.

I dislike Sarah and Jack and Bethany and Ma Driscoll and Kev and Izzy and Glenda and Ed.

I don't mind Mary and Rita and Betsy and Lisa and Maria and Gary and Jodie and Lily and Daniel and Megan and Ken and Gemma and Dev and Amy and Lauren and Fiz.

I am confused by Brian. Why is he such a buffoon? He used to be a headteacher.
