Announced by Kimberly in the last few minutes.

Rest in peace James.

OP posts:

Don’t Trust the B was inexplicably aired out of sequence, completely ruining James’ multi episode story arc (his time on Dancing With The Stars) and bewildering most of the viewers.

Well worth watching in the intended order, not the aired order.

I used to love lying in bed hungover on a Sunday morning watching T4. Dawson's Creek, Shipwrecked etc... oh I miss those days.

FrothyCothy · 11/02/2026 21:39

It’s really sad news, his family is so young.

He had a few appearances in Modern Family which we love as well.

Londonrach1 · 11/02/2026 21:50

Very sad. Love Dawsons creek and rewatched it when dd was a baby and honestly it's better as an adult watching it. I've watched that final series 6 episode as love seeing the ending. Such a loss for his family and 6 children. Cancer is so cruel. Rip James and thank you for getting me through my teenage to twenties and my baby years with dd

Doryismyspiritanimal · 11/02/2026 22:03

oh no that is very sad news

Winewolfhywls · 11/02/2026 22:06

So very sad. I loved the angst of Dawson's Creek and James was probably my first real crush.

MerryGuide · 11/02/2026 22:09

Oh how sad, I think I assumed he was younger as he has such a young family but had no idea he was so ill. Loved Dawsons Creek, feel I need to rewatch.

SpaceRaccoon · 11/02/2026 22:15

That's so sad, no age at all. Friends and I had a Sunday evening ritual where we'd watch Dawson's Creek together with some food.

Not disrespectful, OP posted assuming everyone would know. I didn't so I asked. I also googled, and someone else told me too. I still don't know who he is as I never watched Dawson's Creek, however sad that a young person has died.

What do you mean you still don’t know? You’ve been told, clearly, who he was and presumably have access to the same news resources as the rest of us. It’s possible to know who an actor was without experiencing their work directly. It’s also possible to simply not click on a thread about the death of someone you’ve never heard of, or to google rather than flippantly commenting. I can’t fathom why you chose to do that. Stupid and unpleasant behaviour.

Back on topic - I didn’t realise until reading the news this morning how many children he had. How sad for them, he was so young.

Forty85 · 11/02/2026 22:18

So absolutely tragic, just heartbreaking for his wife and six young children, even worse to be worrying about finances due to the cost of healthcare when suffering such a huge loss.

Climbinghigher · 11/02/2026 22:20

Am so sad. I was far too old for Dawson’s Creek, but it was a big part of a good time of my life (settling down, becoming a mum).

His children are still so very young as well.

AvonCallingBarksdale · 11/02/2026 22:20

I feel so sad about this. I loved Dawson’s Creek - file along with Party of Five and My So Called Life. 48 is so young - his poor family 😢. Cancer is a complete bastard.

SeaShelli · 11/02/2026 22:21

His children. Fuck cancer.

Yes! I was at uni then. Every Sunday without fail.

and I used to watch Dawson’s creek in previous years, after school eating my tea!

dannyufcfan · 11/02/2026 22:24

Sadly, colon cancer is getting more common in people under 50. They don't know why. Scary.

RIP.

Presumably because of American health care costs? What a disgusting system.

That’s horrifying. You’d assume they were loaded. God how awful.

It used to be a Sunday ritual whilst doing homework for me. I remember crying over Andie having a breakdown during one of the season finales that ended up smudging the ink in my exercise book.

HoorayHattie · 11/02/2026 20:08

I first saw him in Mrs Miracle

This is such sad, sad news . . . thinking of his wife and children and all his friends

I love that film. Very sad news.

I think it’s our diets. When my diet gets bad I can feel it.

And he'd recently been trying to sell all his memorabilia from movie sets to fund his treatment.

purpleme12 · 11/02/2026 22:48

Wow

I feel really shocked by this

YelramBob · 11/02/2026 22:55

I'm gutted. Poor James and his young family 😭

The last time I felt this way was when I heard the news of Dave Myers' death. I was sitting in the chemo ward and started sobbing. Life is so fucking unbelievably shit and unfair 🤬😡

Kirbert2 · 11/02/2026 22:55

So incredibly sad. Cancer fucking sucks.

My son had stage 3 cancer in his bowel in 2024, though it was lymphoma, not colon cancer.

His poor wife and children.

Me too. I was a young teen when DC was on but it feels like no time at all.

I remember that episode really well. So emotional watching it.
