Just brilliant, can't wait for Ep 4, and I don't even mind the bits that are different from the books.
I think Monica is fast becoming one of my fave characters..... she is so stoical, but not stupid.
The scene between Malise and Rupert was beautifully acted.
We have known since series 1 that Declan has intel on Perdita..... that will be some scene when he gets involved.

All the promo is coming up on my feeds now, bit late as it’s after I’ve watched. The cast all seem to have had a blast, there’s such a positive energy coming from all of them. It is so lovely to watch a series with so much fun in.
I need to rewatch the dinner party pantry scene a few times.

Blossombunnyy · 17/05/2026 20:23

Finally just sat down to watch episode one!!!!! So bloody excited for this!!!!!

Just binged episodes 1-3. Loved it! Some laugh out loud moments. The dinner party kitchen scene especially.
I also agree dark haired girl is Perdita.
I love how they’ve stayed pretty faithful to the books in parts, but added new bits, which haven’t detracted from the overall story. It’s bloody brilliant telly.
And I agree @BestIsWest re Rupert actor (Alex Hassell IIRC) - I wasn’t sure at first when I saw the casting. But he is excellent. As are the casting decisions tbf.

Blossombunnyy · 18/05/2026 00:02

Just finished all three episodes and OMFG!!! It didn't disappoint absolutely amazing. I can't think what girl with dark hair you are all talking about think I've missed something. The dinner party scenes at Sarah's were so funny. Really loved each and every character except for Cameron I did like her but found her to be a bit of a fun sponge. Each episode was just the right balance of fun and drama, the amount of shocks the writers didn't hold back. Like Declan with the final vote and Sarah's husband in the drinks cupboard. Can't believe we have to wait a whole week for the next one that's so unfair.

What a joy each epidode has been. Dinner party was standout comedy / drama, brilliantly scripted and acted. 5 🌟

The dark haired girl with the Heavenly twins at the swimming pool party.

Watched 2 and 3 last night, what brilliant TV. I only read the books after watching the first season last year, so when I read them I visualised Alex as Rupert and I think he is superb in the role. As is everyone else, it's rare to have such a huge cast and all of them are just brilliant. I agree the scene with Malise was beautifully acted and I love Maude with her dignified but cutting comments to Tony. Literally the only thing I have disliked about these episodes is the camerawork in the dinner party (it had to be like that but was a bit bumpy for me), I wonder how long it took them to film all that, and in the very final shot of Ep3.

Blossombunnyy · 18/05/2026 09:02

@Redlocks30 thank you. I remember now the girl with the dark hair and turquoise bikini top.

Apparently it was a one shot take! And Rufus Jones improvised with the line “shall we rip the knickers off this then“” about the bottle of wine he was holding 😂

Netaporter · 18/05/2026 09:56

I also loved the fact that Emily Atack’s Mum was in the chicken song dancin scene… She was one of the original voices of spitting image and was also one of the original cast members on the song 😉

Blossombunnyy · 05/02/2026 21:55

@71Alex I've not read the books they are on my to buy and read list though. Do you think they will stay true to the books or go off piste?

Looks like with Rupert and Taggie they are staying with the book, but maybe making Taggie older than she was in the books, the actress is certainly older.

I just spotted her (Kate Robbins) announcing the votes. I’d forgotten she was in Spitting Image.

Most Definitely a reference 😂

Emily Attack is fabulous in it.

Love the fact that RCB’s wife is now Hayley Atwell looks completely different and no one said a thing (or was this a nod to Dallas when the same thing happened to Pamela Ewing?😉)

I was thoroughly confused when the lady in black and white was Helen!

71Alex · 18/05/2026 20:16

Me too, and the children now look nothing like either of their parents!

MaudOHara · 19/05/2026 19:28

OMFG I loved season 1 and didn't think season 2 could beat it but it absolutely does. DH is addicted too after scoffing at my love of all things Jilly.

The dinner party was absolutely brilliant comedy.

SemmaLina · 19/05/2026 19:35

My DH loves it too ( annoyingly ) @MaudOHara
I watch it on my own first , then with him

AfternoonVanessa · 19/05/2026 19:48

I loved it. My sister had a pub in the Cotswolds in the late 1980s. Fab times. Loved the kitchens and the Agas. No stupid white shiny plastic fantastic open plan crap.

bookworm14 · 21/05/2026 22:20

Just caught up with this - absolutely bloody brilliant. I love the fact that it’s been made by people who know and love the books - there are so many little details they get just right. The period detail is just so good in general - the election scenes were hilariously accurate, with the count being held in a dusty school hall, the Monster Raving Loony candidate, the swingometer, the chicken song… just glorious.

anxietyispartofme · 22/05/2026 08:51

I did not need to see Danny Dyer’s arse at this time in the morning

Notonthestairs · 22/05/2026 09:08

That you, Valerie?

Netaporter · 22/05/2026 09:43

Just watched whilst on the treadmill (I’m going to have to pretend I didn’t watch it later when DH wants to 😂)

What an episode! The music. The cars. The fashion. Every week a reminiscence of silly formation dances we did to certain songs 🥰

Every woman needs a man to love her like Fred Fred loves Lizzie. And every daughter deserves a Dad to treat her like Fred Fred treats Sharon.

Parkinson and Dyer for the Bafta win or there is no justice in the world.

😂😂😂

The question is, when he goes full frontal later in the series will we see the infamous Dyer “I’ve got one huge bollock?” 🙈

(He talks about it a lot so I don’t think this is a spoiler)

MrsLizzieDarcy · 22/05/2026 09:56

I'm so excited, I'm planning to finish work at 4pm and then dive straight in before DH gets in. He started watching it last week but did my head in telling me what every car was and how some friend of his had had one. Not the point, mate, not the point Grin

SemmaLina · 22/05/2026 10:01

@Netaporter just watched while DH at the gym , will have to watch it again later
Oh dear 😂
Loved this episode , so good
