Well, we soared through the last thread again, so here's a shiny new one!

Corrie is pretty much based around the tragic death of Billy at the moment. Bernie is starting to lose the plot a bit, and ended up in a hotel room with a strange man who is the husband of someone Roy has been chatting to. (It's all a bit confusing!!!) Then she ended up unconcious in the ladies toilets!

Todd and Theo are still together - annoyingly - and Carl (Debbie's brother) has just heard Theo blabbing to Billy in his coffin how he's not a murderer, and he should have saved him, and so on. A guilty conscience, or self pity? (I'm guessing the latter.) Carl was listening (conveniently!) and smirked when he heard Theo 'confessing,' but I'm not sure what he's going to do with the information. Especially as shortly after, Theo saw Carl doing some dodgy dealing with some blokes, and he photographed him. So, they now have 'something' on each other!

Not much happening with the Driscolls at the moment, and Ma Driscoll and Eva have called a truce. But for how long???

Shona and David's new little baby (Harper) is still a bit fragile.

Shiny faced Megan Trainer the Siren who has men (and boys) eating out of her hand, is showing an unpleasant, dark side, after practically threatening Sam (Nick's son) if he blabs anything about her and Will.

And Carla and Lisa have inexplicably made up, as if nothing has happened. On the plus side however, at least we have got rid of the dreadful Undead Becky storyline.

Probably some more bits and bobs to discuss, but I'm sure we'll get to them soon. Smile

Where were the quads when the party was going on and Jawsef or is he now a permanent babysitter

Is Mal also Alice? Malice.
I have no idea what that's all about.
I spent the whole time trying to work out how Brodie is related to Chesney.

Kit is Brodie's dad and Gemma's brother, so Brodie is Chesney's nephew in law.

I think.

the80sweregreat · 30/01/2026 22:45

How did Roy become this Alice’s ‘ pen pal ‘ ( by text)
Or was it Mal all along ? I am a bit confused by this
I thought Bernie looked cold talking to Mal outside , they make them hard up north not wearing her big coat !

HaddyAbrams · 30/01/2026 22:56

Checking in, thanks for the new thread. Last one seemed to fill up really quickly!

I like Bernie, I think we're seeing the result of her trying to be strong for everyone else. Whilst Dev's mithering her was insufferable, he has a point that she needs to grieve.

Andepeda · 30/01/2026 22:08

I'm really hoping Dev and Bernie aren't legally wed. He should to kick her out and clear off to India to visit Aadi for a very long while.

Bernie has brought nothing but trouble for Dev. She has been to jail, her grandson has nicked from his shop and worst of all it was her fault that Asha never got justice for the racist abuse because she thought she could be the hero and bring down Naomi. Now she is going AWOL without the courtesy of an explanation

GrandTheftWalrus · 31/01/2026 00:59

So financial abuse now as well. DH who barely watches thinks its all a scam for some reason.

Ive also passed out in a room with a guy but both fully clothed and DH fully aware.

Also in my local spoons I've had many free drinks and a free pizza. Helps to get friendly with the staff.

Malice - I like that!

Brody is Kit’s son, so is also Gemma’s nephew. So Chesney is his uncle by marriage.

There are loads of weird familial relationships on Corrie that are rarely mentioned, and the characters have no interaction. It’s easily forgotten that Kirk and Maria are siblings. Hope and Ruby are cousins of the quads and Joseph. Amy, Simon and Bertie are all cousins. And I don’t think Sally and Kev have seen Rosie and Sophie since they both left years ago.

CarlaasFactreh · 31/01/2026 07:18

New Corrie name 😍

As much as I dislike Bernie,I hope she wasn't SA whilst unconscious...

Omg noooo Todd!
7K !?
Theo is a piece of bloody work

Andepeda · 31/01/2026 07:37

Considering how much Todd loved Billy, you'd think he'd remember Billy's views on Theo. It's like the last hours he spent with him never happened.

Todd's sad, confused little face is wearing a bit thin now.

the80sweregreat · 31/01/2026 07:49

I have written this before, but Todd has a lot of friends and support around him and only needs to reach out and this could be dealt with. I understand his under his control and it’s not easy to walk away, but where the plot falls down is the fact that he could. For many real life victims they really can’t. It’s good that it’s showing men can be victims of coercion and abuse as much as woman can, but I just wished Todd could find the strength to leave him.
This new storyline about his debt is probably another reason he can’t I suppose. Especially now ( although he could ask the bank for a new debit card and maybe have it delivered elsewhere , but that’s not that easy to do and he isn’t thinking straight of ways around this new dilemma)
How does Theo expect him to withdraw cash or pay for anything. Not every bank card is a credit card one.

Andepeda · 31/01/2026 08:16

So we don't know if Alice is real, or if Mal is actually Malice?

So many villains, I need a spread sheet.

Everyone lives in each other's pockets in Corrie and Todd has been there on and off for half his life. It is hard to show the reality of coercion and control in that environment as it is more about isolating someone over years maybe decades.

At the moment it feels like they have a checklist about controlling scenarios and this week it is financial control. There have been good elements to the story, others not so good but probably time to wind it up.

Shellingbynight · 31/01/2026 08:32

The last thread did fill up quickly, I suppose now Corrie is 5 episodes not 3 we are commenting more often.

Is Mal Alice? I don’t know what he’d get out of being Alice, but I suspect he is, because this is Corrie. Fortunately the actor is good enough to do ‘nice’ as well as the inevitable villain. As @Andepeda says, so many villains now we need a spreadsheet.

It isn’t exactly a secret what Bernie is like so Dev has only himself to blame. I have no idea why he’s with her!

I agree Todd could walk away, and was actually doing so when Billy died. And he has huge support right on his doorstep. Yet now he seems back to square one which is possibly realistic but dramatically quite boring. Here’s hoping Carl buries Theo in a shallow grave. Although he’ll probably just shag him.

Shellingbynight · 31/01/2026 08:39

@zanahoria yes that's my feeling too, they can't really show the issues with Theo and Todd because soaps are a stifling environment where everyone knows everyone. They have done some good stuff but a lot of it doesn't work in that environment. Todd is miserable now, clearly wants out, and he even knows he has the evidence of the original film because Billy showed it to him.

Looks like there are only 3 episodes this week......sport.

sorryIdidntmeanto · 31/01/2026 08:42

How did Todd get £7k debt in the few weeks he was unemployed? What was he buying?

PersephoneParlormaid · 31/01/2026 08:44

Didn’t we see a clip where a man, seen from the back, was sending a text message to Roy? I assumed that was Mal.
I didn’t understand the Inverness reference, is that where Alice lives, yet her son is in prison in Manchester?

Shellingbynight · 31/01/2026 08:49

I think we saw Mal reading texts, not sending, so it's ambiguous. But he must be Alice, otherwise what was that plot about? And still, what is it about, why would he pick on a cafe owner in Weatherfield. I suppose Inverness is a conveniently long distance away so no one bothers about Alice!

I wondered how Todd racked up so much debt so fast too.

Todd walked out before, not sure all the "is he going" bits are really helping the depiction of abuse. I am sure that happens in these situations but it feels just like it is being done for dramatic effect

the80sweregreat · 31/01/2026 09:19

Does Todd work ( or worked before ?) or did he lose his job? When I started watching again in November time I thought he was a personal trainer as he was out running with that other man ( James ?)
Theo is a scaffolder isn’t he, he must earn a good wage.

PersephoneParlormaid · 31/01/2026 09:24

Todd has gone back to working at the undertakers

the80sweregreat · 31/01/2026 09:27

Oh , his an undertaker !

zanahoria · 31/01/2026 09:28

the80sweregreat · 31/01/2026 09:27

Oh , his an undertaker !

and they are never short of business round their way

the80sweregreat · 31/01/2026 09:33

No! I can imagine that like other soaps there are always lots of deaths on the street. Lol

eggandonion · 31/01/2026 09:35

Gary should sort Theo out.
