He did from me !!
Didn’t a lot of people dislike him at the time? I seem to remember a lot of people thought he was a snake.

Yes - still think that was a horrible thing to do, to use Molly like that and let her down, and then not keep your word afterwards.

Thewonderfuleveryday · 24/01/2026 14:08

Minah is doing "regular" supply teacher presenting on radio 1. She's pretty much a natural at it, I like listening to her.

I wondered earlier whether they’ll make more money from appearances outside of a BBC contract. Possibly Rachel will be headhunted for a higher profile comms job - she definitely seems to have the skills.

They will certainly get some appearance money following this, if they chose to. I also wondered if Rachel would get headhunted - she displayed very desirable skills in the show for a comms lead - I'd hire her in a shot.

Have any former contestants actually made a living out of being on the show? I gather Harry's quite big on SM but I don't know if he makes a living out of it.

I've seen a couple on panel show type programmes - Alexander was on Celebrity Mastermind recently (and has his radio programme) and I've seen Wilf on Would I Lie to You. Mina does some One Show reporting.

As many of hte contestants are on SM, especially threads an TicTok with now large followings, they will make money from the creator fund there...

Harry and Paul have a podcast that’s quite popular

Totally agree.

I think a lot of Rachel’s criticism comes from the fact that she came in with her in-it-to-win-it hat on and she never took it off once. She was always laser focused on the reasons why she was there - her family - and I think that’s why she never formed the same connections, she didn’t forget her core purpose in the way others did.

I don’t think that’s cold or ruthless, she knew what (or who) her long term priorities were - and obviously it’s not people she met mere days previously!

I agree that she was completely focused on winning. Many of the others were there to make friends or enjoy the experience as well. She did an amazing job, Stephen was good at the logistics of it, remembering who had voted for who and that kind of thing, but she kept him focused.

I thought it was interesting on Uncloaked when she said that she only made one promise and that was the one to Stephen.

Did he really wobble tho or was it just the editing?? I think she played a blinder to get Faraaz's support when James went out. Jack and Faraaz could have won if they had supported each other the way Stephen and Rachel did.

Yeah he mentioned it frequently that he hadn’t been totally sure

Liquoriceallsortsmadear · 24/01/2026 15:00

I think we would have all had a wobble. He trusted Rachel to not vote for him, but had he had the chance to win twice as much money if he voted for her.

Tiddlywinky · 24/01/2026 15:08

u3ername · 24/01/2026 12:44

It’s the fact that Jack and Faraz didn’t know each other’s status is what made that harder for them.

Totally. Rachel and Stephen had all the knowledge (about everyone's status) and the other had none.

Rachel and Stephen are on R2 now. Her response to Faraaz calling her grandma, was funny. She just said, laughing, well grandma's rich!😂

45K doesn't make you rich but whatever (well maybe in her neck of the woods it does)

Sound alike she meant in context of the game

Tiddlywinky · 24/01/2026 15:12

CharlotteRumpling · 24/01/2026 09:59

Rachel would have had so many more fans if she had fake cried a bit. The world loves an ineffectual woman crier.

She can't cry. It's not in her.

The way she looked at Ellie when she was about to try. She despised her.

RubieChewsDay · 24/01/2026 15:12

ScarletLipstick · 24/01/2026 12:53

I thought Stephen was just a decent human. I think he wobbled with Rachel near the end when he thought she was going to turn on him but ultimately he stuck with her and honoured their pact. If he’d voted Jack he would have got all the money but everyone would have hated him. Ultimately, as Claudia said, they remained faithful to each other. I did feel sorry for Jack though.

Absolutely agree, it really does come across as someone who stayed true to their own values.

It can go along way to making your life more comfortable. I expect it's probably close to her annual salary, and I think winnings like this are tax free (although I might be wrong in that).

ZappyDays · 24/01/2026 15:15

Thank you @CaveMum for these threads, must have been such a lot of work to keep on top of it all and I’ve really enjoyed reading them.

I am so happy with the result. I totally fell for the edit and got scared Stephen would write Rachel’s name on his slate but deep down I knew he wouldn’t. He was clearly fighting his conscience the whole way through as a traitor and someone who says thank you to a hand sticking out of the ground giving him money and says to Claudia “oh my goodness is that person ok?!” is just lovely in my opinion!

Rachel was a formidable traitor and definitely had the upper hand at many stages of the game when things weren’t looking good for Stephen and she stuck by him. I do think this served her purpose in the game too because if he’d been banished she would have had to recruit someone else who might not have been such a team player.

Jade and Jack made the Molly mistake of trusting a traitor implicitly just because they liked them as a person. Faraaz did not have the courage of his convictions and was just not strategic enough.

Rachel, Stephen and Jack were on BBC Breakfast this morning and I had to laugh when Jack said he would invite them both to his wedding and Rachel said “I’m actually a celebrant so I can marry you if you like” and Jack was like “Really?!” She just laughed and said “No!” It was just proof that she can say anything and people will believe her and that is the main reason she did so well in my opinion.

The ending of Australia series 2 is the best ending ever.

It was, I loved it!

She's really making a go of it and I'm delighted for her. I think she has only very recently just given up her 'day' job. There are opportunities for previous contestants but they don't just fall in people's laps, it takes aptitude and hardwork to make the most of what comes your way.

I’m talking about when it was down to the final three. She knew that Jack would vote for her and not Stephen. She had no choice really but to vote for Jack. Stephen had the choice. If he voted for Rachel they could end the game and he would take all the money. That would make any of us stop to think.

Stephen’s socials are incredibly well put together - either keg/his partner have a natural aptitude for photography and content creation or he’s getting some professional help (maybe both?) which suggests some kind of future with a public profile. He’d get work in style/fashion even if it’s just a content creator.

I actually thought Sam was the natural one for a media career, he was just very good on Uncloaked and has the looks for it. I don’t know if he’ll have a big enough post-show profile but maybe it could jump-start a career if he wanted one.

She didn’t have the chances he had - not at the right stage of the game.

I disagree - she could have thrown him
Under the bus loads of times - she would have only had to buy in to one of the stories going round and her influence would have spoken big

Liquoriceallsortsmadear · 24/01/2026 15:37

Whom ever said Rachel can’t cry - didn’t she get upset a few times - one of which was when Amanda went

i am aghast at the double standards compared to Stephen!

if she was stephen she would have been abhorred for the scheming he did and in the firing line for discussing her among players

so sad - she’s a great women and credit to our sex! For me she had the right level of empathy for a game about deceit and pretending

To be fair the was never a strategic advantage for her to throw him under the bus - earlier in the game she’d have been forced to recruit, and by the end game he didn’t have the heat on him.

Whether loyalty might have stopped her is another issue, but it never made sense for her to have done it.
