Guardian Review predictably calls Rachel ruthless, plotting, machinations, untrustworthy...blah blah. Says nothing about Stephen's plotting. Sexist crap.

Edited

Its an over-40 woman vs younger gay man, I would expect nothing else.

It was once my default read, within two years of Viner taking over I’d cancelled my sub and it continued its steady departure from factual reporting ever since.

It was not an ageist slur, come the fuck on. It was a mutual and respectful joke between two people who were openly filmed laughing and talking about the age difference between them. He’s about 22. Anyone over 35 might as well be 105 to him.

So happy with the result! I thought Stephen would bail on the deal and I was genuinely so invested I watched through my fingers.

Rachel was utterly PHENOMENAL and deserved to win. Stephen, up to the final, couldn’t have won without her, and then right at the final COULD have won without her. Absolutely scenes. I’m glad he made the right decision. Faith in humanity restored. They were faithful to each other! The whole way through. Wholly in the spirit!

I really don’t think that was a slur at all - really funny and clearly a joke between them. Faraaz was a great character and very funny at times.

You are absolutely right!

I liked Rachel. She was true to her word with Stephen and played the role of traitor very well.

I think Jade's father is/was a wealthy banker? So presumably she may be quite wealthy herself to afford the fancy cardigans.

Rachel was wearing a hope Macaulay cardy this evening as well. Maybe there's a dressing up box they can dip into.

Agreed

Great win by the traitors. No one can say they didn't deserve it as they ran rings round the faithfuls. Glad that they shared the cash and also glad Stephen didn't have to tell Jack the bad news. Stephen was so clever with his words - there is one person I have seen myself ending this with. Jack thought it was him but he obvs meant Rachel.

I don’t think anyone has posted who won Irish traitors

I couldn't reply to the above, that quoted me, because the last thread ended so responding to it here. @BlueLimes yes, they did. Having had a big search though and having found it, it wasn't on one of these numbered threads but on another thread about UK S4 in AIBU.

So I was wrong that it was someone on these threads, all the threads I'd read had muddled in my head, plus there was at least one other spoiler for Traitors Ireland on these collection of threads - I've attached a screenshot that is proof of that without showing what that spoiler is.

If there’s a dressing up box at the castle, need a bit of Vivienne Westwood in there.

sorryIdidntmeanto · 23/01/2026 23:41

Faraaz is just so cute.
That was pretty entertaining.
Really Faraaz should win some money as he did the job. He found the traitors. And was in the final. What more can you ask for? I reckon he needs it more than Stephen.
But anyway, well played Rachel Stephens.

Hungrycaterpillarsmummy · 23/01/2026 23:43

I just finished it. I'm fucked off. Rachel coasted on luck the whole way through

Labour / left wing. Always misogynistic crap.

Can we please leave politics out of this.

Has anyone watched the US traitors? I keep getting fed snippets on TikTok and can see Maura Higgins (from Love Island) is currently on there? Wondering if I should try and watch it. Never watched the Irish version before but might give it a crack.

I haven’t seen this series yet, but now that the UK one is finished I might! I watched the last American series following the last UK one to fill the gap.
Its good. The format is exactly the same so you can’t not like it. Most of the contestants were from the same two or three reality shows.
The main downside I felt was, I had no one to talk to about it. A huge pull of UK traitors for me are all the WhatsApp groups, chatting about it at work the next day, all the memes. But no one else was watching the American one when I was, so it didn’t feel like “event” tv as much. But give it a go!

A solid agree on this. I loved Faaraz as well.

Congratulations to Rachel. Phenomenal win 🙌

Nope. She was strategic and an excellent game player.

Papercompany · 24/01/2026 00:02

I'm delighted with how it ended. Rachel and Stephen both did an amazing job - I don't know how they kept so calm under such pressure. Both seem like really lovely people. Best Traitor ending so far!

ISpyNoPlumPie · 24/01/2026 00:04

I found it interesting that Rachel’s strategic gameplay got her and Stephan into the final, but it was Stephan’s personable nature and ability to form friendships that resulted in them winning.

Agree with many others who have said that if Rachel had the casting vote at the end, I believe she would have taken everything for herself. She was ruthless and almost devoid of emotion. She appeared to me to have almost psychopathic tendencies. Even in the context of a game, most people would have an emotional response to having to lie and deceive, but not her.

I also sensed from uncloaked that Rachel and Stephen do not really get on outside of the context of their traitor roles.

Ah well. All done now. I think I prefer the celebrity traitors. It’s all a bit more fun when people aren’t playing for money that could change their lives. The betrayal is too much for me.

Yes, worth a watch. Different vibe. They get more factional.

Alan Cumming just as good as Claudia IMHO, but in a different way. And, being Scottish, he can rock kilts and tartan with wild abandon.

Hungrycaterpillarsmummy · 24/01/2026 00:05

wheresthesnowgone · 24/01/2026 00:01

Nope. She was strategic and an excellent game player.

Nope. She landed lucky being selected as a traitor. She landed lucky no one listened to Harriet, she landed lucky no one took on what Fiona said about her, and then rode on the coattails of Stephen at the end.
She's a grifter. Nobody will pull the wool over my eyes with her.

NewYearNewYouKitten · 24/01/2026 00:08

Didn't Stephen just think he'd get more post -show gigs if he splits the winnings as it's a better story?

Wondering if producers can influence their decisions - someone mentioned rules in competitions.

Would have been good if nice guys Faraaz snd Jack had won. But not such a good story as Jack's a bit more forgettable.

Wouldn't trust working with Rachel or Stephen.

Most of the faithfuls were dopey and made wild uneducated guesses, missing loads of clues, not least Fiona and Harriet handing her to them on a plate.

I watch US Traitors too. I enjoy it because the tone and style of it is purposefully different from the UK version: it's MUCH camper and is very much about established TV personalities. After S1 they have only had reality tv stars/singers/ actors/minor celebs.

CharlotteRumpling · 24/01/2026 00:13

I dont like the US shows because they are all reality show contestants amd they team up on that basis. Ie all the housewives in one team, the gamers in one, the bacholrettes in one and so on.
Plus all the women look like Melania.

APurpleSquirrel · 24/01/2026 00:16

I’m so glad Rachel & Stephen won - they deserved it, played the game so well & were ultimately faithful to each other.

100% They were a great team.

I felt Rachel spent most of the game quite isolated, especially after Amanda left. She was able to win people over because he was such a great liar, even when cornered.

Whereas, as you say, Stephen won the Faithfuls’ trust by getting on with everyone and forming close friendships.

Rachel was possibly emotionless because she was scared out of her wits but steeled herself to focus on surviving. She perhaps had her game face on. She also strikes me as being quite ‘no-nonsense’ and organised.

I too think she may have been tempted to take all the money if she had the chance. She has kids. She may’ve decided to put them first.
