Welcome to Thread 6 of Traitors 2026.

This thread runs at TV pace so do not read any further if you are not up to date with the live broadcast. Whilst most discussion will be on the current series, inevitably people will refer to previous series/players/winners so reader beware if you’ve not seen the 3 previous editions, or the celebrity version.

While we welcome posters discussing their theories and speculating on relationships/connections between players, please don’t post spoilers from elsewhere that may ruin things for those of us who like to see things unfold over the course of the series.

The story so far:

Traitors
Hugo
Rachel
Stephen
Fiona (Secret Traitor)

Murdered
Netty
Ben
Maz
Reece

Banished
Judy (Faithful)
Hugo (Traitor)
Ross (Faithful)
Amanda (Faithful)
Fiona (Traitor)

No murder cliffhanger after episode 6, but Matthew (aka Interchangeable Male #3) has taken an interesting approach. We wait to see what cunning questions Harriet can come up with.

The floor is yours…

This time it’s personal! Traitors 2026 | Thread 5 | Spoiler Free! | Mumsnet

Hating someone who is playing a game on tv is a bit dysfunctional in itself - I don't really understand people who so easily hate like this.
Rachel is a player, I agree and to be successful at that - she must ensure loyalty, make people like her, whilst being a little bit scared of her potential too. I think she used Amanda - stayed close because that made her seem more faithful.

But we, like the contestants need to remind ourselves - this is just a game - no one needs to be hating on anyone.

Yes 💯. It’s bizarre.

goldtrap · 11/01/2026 09:45

re cardigan-gate. If I were going on a TV show, I'd absolutely up my wardrobe game. Plus, if I had a particular brand or style I liked and I was a gorgeous 25 year old who knew they could pull off the look, I would totally splash out on some signature pieces. Jade has just landed herself a collab for sure. It's a shrewd investment.

I’m surprised some posters replied in defence of Rachel but people have slated Fiona’s character rather than her method of playing which didn’t merit any response.

Pot. Kettle.

What puzzles me slightly, is that no one has mentioned that Harriet is a criminal author. They must have hours to spend just chatting, including jobs, family etc so Harriet must have revealed she’s an author.

Absolutely. If Jessie wore it, I don’t think people would even notice. When a beautiful young woman wears it, it invokes what can only be described as some sort of jealousy or bitterness.
Maybe she lives at home, maybe she comes from a wealthy background, maybe she has a sugar daddy. Who actually cares. It’s a beautiful piece of knitwear. Admire it or dislike it but the speculation is bizarre.

I get what you’re saying, they’re both just playing the game.

I noticed on the Celebrity one, some (eg Kate Galloway) had a carefully thought out wardrobe, with designer pieces every day, whilst others (mainly the men) just turned up in everyday clothes.

I haven't personally said I hate anyone, least of all Fiona. I reserve that for Trump! Fiona was a bad Traitor though. No strategy. Too chaotic.

I remember the hate Harry got for doing nothing but play the game exceptionally well. He too was called a psycho, evil and so on. Bit much.

It’s funny, but while I can see all of Fiona’s flaws I don’t hate her. Yes her version of “mischief” looks more like garden variety meanness, but she’s so bad at manipulating people she was out on her ear almost as soon as she was revealed as the Secret Traitor! Her handling of Rachel’s big announcment made her look like a buffoon, as has her turn on Uncloaked. I can’t find it in me to find her threatening, even if I had to work with her. There’s no doubt in my mind people around her would get the measure of her pretty quickly.

Rachel does bother me, though. I don’t think she’s really a nice person who just happens to be very skilled at lying and manipulating people - I think the gameplay we’re seeing is the real her. For example, when Amanda was banished and she was acting emotional, it was clear when she was wiping her cheeks that her eyes were absolutely dry. She’s spoken several times about how aware she is of how she needs to appear to people to gain their trust and stay under the radar, and she’s extremely good at it.

I’ve actually found myself wondering if she’s one of the 1% of the population who’s a clinical (but not criminal) psychopath. Apparently if a psychopath is raised in a stable/loving environment they turn out “normal” except they don’t feel anything for other people and can use them as they need to. Apparently some high flyers in the workplace can fit that profile - I bet it would make for a successful Traitor, too!

Or Rachel is just very good at role playing games (something she enjoys outside the show). Overall she has been very good at the role of traitor, even if she underestimated Fiona’s complete lack of team playing on her side.

Fiona was every bit as unpleasant if not worse on Uncloaked which was Fiona’s opportunity to be herself and not a role in a game.

I think she has not revealed it. Maybe said she does something else

She might have done. But speaking from experience, when you tell people you are writing a book, they go 'Oh, are you?' and that's that. It just sounds like a nice little hobby.

Because it's insinuating that kind of crap is exactly the same except it's poorer quality, using cheap labour etc It's easily identifiable to not be exact copies and also it's insinuating Jade could never afford the real deal. It's just ODD poo poo someone having something nice.

Oh I started this. Jade’s bio explicitly states she is on a PhD studentship type salary which is low and she couldn’t afford to save for her long term, but her wardrobe includes The Cardigan and a lot of other items from the pricey end of high street. Certainly not the wardrobe I could have afforded at this stage of life.

I’ve noticed this apparent disparity with other players this time and previously and wondered if the show had a style/wardrobe consultant for the contestants. I rather like the idea of shows supporting small UK fashion businesses, for some shows the stylists share the designer info on SM (as with Shetland).

I’d agree anyone can have the proverbial Posh Frock but the wider wardrobe is also pricey.

That said, @goldtrap could well have a point since quite a few contestants use the game to kick off a different career.

I think there are certainly wardrobe people advising the contestants - how much branded clothing have you seen? (Answer - none) I suspect most males would struggle to produced a wardrobe for two weeks without including sports branding... they are being helped and possibly supplied with clothing.

I’ve missed whatever cardigan gate is as this thread moves so fast!
Also, what the heck is a collab when it’s at home…??
Surely a cardi is a cardi she is a student so I’d imagine it’s from a charity store or would have been in my day.
She has had little to no input from that we’ve seen and has said very little other than get the hump when Amanda named her.
I doubt she’ll be kicking off another career off the back of this show as she doesn’t have the personality.

MrsLeonFarrell · 11/01/2026 10:33

Rachel seems to be well liked in the castle, something Fiona forgot to take into account when she launched her attack. The comparison with Harry is probably fair. Both are popular with the players whilst good at the detachment needed to be a successful traitor.

Having said that i don't think Rachel is as under the radar as Harry was and if Harriet plays the game better than Jaz she could get her out.

Wincher · 11/01/2026 10:53

peacefulpeach · 11/01/2026 09:39

Yes but you don’t Know you Know. You might not know. You’d just think you know. Who is to know? Except the traitors. They might not know who thinks they know (eg. Harriet), but they’re still way more advantaged. And why the traitors haven’t murdered Harriet yet, after her Hugo performance, I don’t Know.

They haven’t had the chance to murder Harriet yet, she’s not been on the shortlist at all!

KittyHigham · 11/01/2026 10:56

It's not the method of playing that is drawing my criticism, it's Fiona's attitude towards others.

There was no strategic benefit in her going for Rachel, it was personal.

She delighted in being in control of other people and messing with their experience of the game. On uncloaked she told Reece she'd been playing cat and mouse with him. That's just nasty, especially when it was clear he was struggling emotionally.

She had no game-related reasons for her choices of people on her shortlist. She just enjoyed having that power. Talking about her son being a teacher and wanting to have a dig at teachers by choosing Netty.

It was weird and uncomfortable behaviour, and didn't change out of the game.

Yes - one flaw in this series is that the Traitors have not had free rein to select a victim. This is probably by design, either to make things more difficult for Traitors (and to make them more vulnerable to banishment) or simply to reduce the time in the "turret" when there are a lot of potential victims.

Eiter way, it has changed the game-play in this series (but I think they need to keep making changes to stop people coming in with a well-researched strategy based on previous series, which would, as with other reality shows, start to become boring).

CharlotteRumpling · 11/01/2026 11:01

Talking about nice wardrobes, I really liked Francesca's last year.
But then I saw her on Uncloaked for Celeb Traitors, and she looked quite different, and not in a good way..

Oneforallandallforone · 11/01/2026 11:01

quarrybanks · 11/01/2026 10:57

But Jessie is a beautiful young woman!

IMO the difference is Jessie is ‘liked’. She’s seen as less poised, more down to earth, less ‘perfect’. It’s a shame to judge Jade for being those things.
It’s not a reason to speculate about someone’s background based on that someone’s cardigan.

Is anyone else wondering whether Harriet is not just a secret barrister on the show but the Secret Barrister?

https://thesecretbarrister.com/

The Secret Barrister

Barrister, Blogger and Sunday Times No.1 Bestselling Author

https://thesecretbarrister.com

Cismyfatarse · 11/01/2026 11:16

As far as I know the Secret Barrister is definitely a man.

Piggywaspushed · 11/01/2026 11:27

Harriet gave up being a barrister quite some time ago. The secret barrister is male, and a barrister!
