Welcome to Thread 6 of Traitors 2026.

This thread runs at TV pace so do not read any further if you are not up to date with the live broadcast. Whilst most discussion will be on the current series, inevitably people will refer to previous series/players/winners so reader beware if you’ve not seen the 3 previous editions, or the celebrity version.

While we welcome posters discussing their theories and speculating on relationships/connections between players, please don’t post spoilers from elsewhere that may ruin things for those of us who like to see things unfold over the course of the series.

The story so far:

Traitors
Hugo
Rachel
Stephen
Fiona (Secret Traitor)

Murdered
Netty
Ben
Maz
Reece

Banished
Judy (Faithful)
Hugo (Traitor)
Ross (Faithful)
Amanda (Faithful)
Fiona (Traitor)

No murder cliffhanger after episode 6, but Matthew (aka Interchangeable Male #3) has taken an interesting approach. We wait to see what cunning questions Harriet can come up with.

The floor is yours…

This time it’s personal! Traitors 2026 | Thread 5 | Spoiler Free! | Mumsnet

Why can the traitors never work together? Every year they start going for each other. It just happened much earlier this year. But the traitors have power in numbers. Once they get to half way they have so much power as a block of three vote. I also wonder why they never talk about who they want to banish as well as murder. They could be so powerful.

I so agree - if they worked more as a Team and thought of who to get out in banishment they could really do well - but I guess it's of course different when you're in that position and tbh there's a lot of footage we don't see

MrsLeonFarrell · 10/01/2026 14:34

Just re watched last night's episode.

Theory about Matt, the fairest, standing there in his slightly too small clothes, with his innocent demeanor. He's a Creative Director so he knows how to frame a narrative. Do we think he is playing a long game of misdirection and if let into the turret will slaughter anyone without mercy, including his fellow traitors?

If I were them I'd pretend to make a deal and murder him asap.

All that is true of Jade but she reacts in such a personally offended way. She wasn’t named often at the Round Table and half the time by Amanda. Any heat on her was mainly from Amanda.
As she is exceptionally attractive and obviously intelligent given she is doing a PhD, it’s maybe unusual for her to be on the receiving end of negativity. She seems to think she is being targeted more than she actually is.

There's so much more discussion at the round table than we actually see so it's possible Jade's name has been discussed more extensively, and Amanda's behaviour towards her felt very personal.
I still think Rachel really shot herself in the foot announcing what Amanda told her so, if they go for Jade who is then shown as a faithful, they discredit anything Amanda said and it throws suspicion on Rachel. A smart move for Rachel now would be to recruit Jade, expose her as a traitor and secure her own position. That would be incredibly devious though.
I hope Jessie is more vocal at highlighting what she's noticed before they kill her off....murdering her does rather endorse what she's saying. Also, I really like her and wanted her to win so I'm cheesed off at them killing off another interesting and likeable player.

Mimosa3andmore · 10/01/2026 14:42

I thought that on Uncloaked Ed quickly moved away from talking to Reece when Reece said he'd wanted a hug from Amanda as she was leaving (possibly because they have a family connection and he didn't want it to be revealed accidentally?).

I am also 6/7 years younger than Fiona and feel she's about 3 decades older than me in respect of her behaviour and attitudes. I don't know why she referred to Tena - having stress incontinence is nothing to be ashamed of.

I'm not sure either Amanda or Fiona have done the police any favours given their comments and 'strategy' during the programmes. Neither covered themselves in glory. Maz was lovely and a credit to himself and the force though.

According to my DC the cool young things are buying vintage Walkmans for cassettes and CDs. I can’t believe a BBC production team lacked a cool young thing who could loan her a Walkman (or even an iPod)!

An aside:

If you watch the speed climbing at the Olympics is really interesting to watch what the contestants are using to listen to music.
The thing with speed climbing is that you can’t see the course in advance so they all sit out the back waiting for their turn. They are allowed to listen to music but not on an internet capable device so they all have ancient iPods instead.

back to the traitors.

That’s true about the amount of editing. I tend to forget that.

Fiona really annoyed me on Uncloaked. She just didn't have any coherent strategy for the shortlists when she was the secret traitor, in fact her reasoning was bizarre. I also don't believe the whole Amanda/Rachel thing was strategic. Unless there was a much longer time lapse between Rachel making her announcements and Fiona pulling her aside to accuse her, then I just don't think she would have though through that whole plan on the spot. I think we are well rid of her.

And it was frustrating - though expected - how she dominated the show and how much Charlotte Church and Amanda liked her. When she was banished didn't Claudia call her a brilliant traitor? In the episode when Fiona accused Rachel it was so explosive and unexpected I'm worried that it will be seen as the moment of the series. Here's to more explosive episodes which will eradicate what she did. My 15 year old finds it funny how much I loathe Fiona:)

One of my closest friends liked her!

Honestly, it made me look at said friend through narrowed eyes, with my head one side and think "Hmmm....have I got you all wrong?" 😂😂

NorthFaceofthelaundrypile · 10/01/2026 14:30

My next theory is that Matt and Stephen are partners, so I’d love them to recruit him and then Rachel to be voted out.
I got the impression that as soon as Hugo was out, she tried turning eyes on to Stephen.

In Rachel's position I would see Stephen as an easy victim as he's already been suspected by others and therefore keep him onside until near the end, then work to get him banished so I (Rachel) was the only Traitor left.

The risk is there may be a recruitment and we have seen slight variations in the game so the rules may change towards the end.

RoseTulips2023 · 10/01/2026 15:12

ScaredOfFlying · 10/01/2026 09:53

Unanimous chorus of “Bullshit!” in my living room when Fiona claimed on Uncloaked that she knew all along that Rachel was telling the truth about Amanda’s secret.

It was SO obvious her ego was bruised by Amanda not telling her. Did anyone notice that, on the previous day’s Uncloaked, Amanda was asked by Ed if she did know about Fiona’s family being “coppers” and Amanda was like “yeah, she did tell me that, whatevs”, clearly it wasn’t a remotely interesting or significant fact to her.

Fiona is clearly intending to monetise the shit out of her 15 minutes of fame and I suspect that was her plan from day one. She tried a bit of stand up comedy with the burner phone bollocks. Leave it to the professionals Love, Dawn French you ain’t.

Edited

I thought Fiona did think Rachel was telling the truth- that was what annoyed her most. Amanda was ex police but hadn't told her and even worse had told Rachel. Her ego was bruised so in a hissy fit she declared Rachel was lying.

RoseTulips2023 · 10/01/2026 15:15

Sillyoclock · 10/01/2026 09:53

Going back to Fiona accusing Rachel of lying about Amanda sharing her secret - why didn’t anyone pick up on that it must have been true otherwise how would Rachel have known Amanda had been a police officer? 🤔

I think this must have come up but wasn't shown. I think this is why Fiona got so many votes and Rachel didn't get any.

FrodoBiggins · 10/01/2026 15:17

TheGreenBow · 10/01/2026 13:03

How is it not obvious to more people that Rachel must be a traitor? As why would any other traitor (Fiona) go that strongly and loudly against someone who she knew was a faithful, just to remove them from the game? She could have just murdered her instead.

Surely the only conclusion is it was traitor on traitor? I know Harriet realises this but it’s a fairly obvious one isn’t it?

I guess Rachel could sell it as Fiona trying to deflect from the names Amanda gave (Jade and ?Sam) and say that she must have been protecting other traitor/s. Then get them out at RT, two RTs and 2 murders before the theory is shown to be false by which time she'll have to hope she's nearly won it (or, ideally, recruited one of them then thrown them under bus)

Or everyone believed Rachel as they realised in hindsight how obvious an ex-copper Amanda was!

RoseTulips2023 · 10/01/2026 15:38

Fiona said that her husband was a serving police officer. Surely most police have retired by their 60s- unless he's a lot younger than her?

Rachel hasn’t been backhanded though. She never voted Hugo that was Fiona and Stephen. She’s actually. Been the most loyal. Stephen’s voted traitors twice.

Piggywaspushed · 10/01/2026 14:06

Didn't they annoy everyone else by telling them they weren't going to share the Q and As?

I thought they meant before they asked them so as not to give the traitors time to plan. I assume they will have to say what they asked at some point. Presumably when they come up with a theory. They could/will lie of course.

I really hope it’s not because he will plummet down in my estimation if he’s put up with married to her.

Maz is retired from the police and is now a civil servant - if Fiona’s husband is a serving police officer, he’s definitely not Maz.

I found the episode for you. It’s one of the Celebrity Traitors discussion episodes but they do the stats in the second half.

https://podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/the-rest-is-entertainment/id1718287198?i=1000734290811

Talking of stats, how does the speed of threads look this time compared to previous series?

Are the Traitors stats published anywhere else? I’m not the biggest fan of Richard and Marina plus I’d really like to read up on the raw data myself and produce forecasts which turn out to be useless 😁

WriterOfWrongs · 10/01/2026 11:24

But the 3 young women all had long, straightish blonde hair of a similar length and colour tone though and were a similar height. IIRC none of them worse glasses.

With the ‘interchangeable’ young men, they don’t have the same height, type of hair and facial features. Eg Adam is a lot shorter, has stubble/a beard and straight hair. Jack is tall with curly-ish dark hair, glasses and earrings. He doesn’t look dissimilar to James but James doesn’t wear glasses and doesn’t have earrings.

It's as much to do with how they've featured in the episodes. With 22 players at the start, the only way most of us learn who's who is either because they physically stand out from the crowd (age, height, hair, ethnicity, sex, or other attributes). Or they have a key role in an early episode (selected as traitor, do something stupid or controversial etc.). There were a relatively large number of youngish men, who's physical differences are not great enough to be memorable and they didn't get featured significantly in the early episodes. So, they weren't being talked about and were inadvertently grouped together in many of our minds. Hence interchangeables.

People mentioned it upthread I think? It may have said it on screen when we first met her.

The press here (The Tab so just a student mag) say that she says she is a master's student to the other contestants.

Edited

Jade irritated me with her ongoing petulant responses to being nominated as a traitor and that response also made her seem more like a traitor to those nominating her. Last night was the first time we have seen her respond to being nominated in a similar manner to others.
Being incorrectly nominated on the “evidence’ that you looked a bit funny at a random event is all part of the game. In her bio she emphasises her gaming experience and yet seemed not to grasp this basic aspect of the game.

On a side note I think it was Jade’s outfits which made me wonder if the show provides wardrobe/styling to contestants. She has been wearing some pretty pricey outfits for someone who describes living on a PhD grant salary. I’ve seen other contestants pop up with quite fancy outfits but I wasn’t sure of the mismatch between wardrobe and their income. I would defer to the S&B posters on this - perhaps we need a matching Traitors style thread as was created for Shetland!

I just caught up with it.
I hope Rachel is next. But I fear Harriet is too insistent on biding her time and will be too late to initiate her take down.
I was annoyed too that Rachel and Stephen were allowed to be together and whispering in the confessional when replying to the questions. Whats the point of that when they were told they can lie anyway?
Rachel is awful. I would hate to work with her. Her snarky smile, her way of staring people down, even her love of wearing yellow and blue. I find her thoroughly dislikeable, with no redeeming features at all. I dont think she's a pantomine villain, or playing a game. I think this is a really hard hearted, austere person. Its a game Rachel. Lighten up.

I think this is the worst series of The Traitors so far. I am not enjoying it because of the traitors they chose and the majority of bland faithful contestants they selected to play. They couldn't have picked a less interesting bunch.

Edited

I agree. She takes everything so seriously

Hungrycaterpillarsmummy · 10/01/2026 16:24

So if I was one to ask the traitors a question I would ask what the others have asked!
But maybe they don't know if they were first or last to ask

I thought the one where they recreated the paintings was one of the better challenges!

I thought it was fun!
