It's all happening in the street!

Todd continues to be abused and manipulated by nasty Theo.

Carla is being kept hostage by evil Undead Becky the Bay City Roller! Lisa (Swain) is pining for Carla who she thinks has gone away on holiday, (but Lisa still did the deed with Undead Becky!)

Nasty Ma Driscoll has been turfed out of The Rovers Return by her son Ben, after her horrible Christmas day stunt of revealing to everyone that Eva has had an abortion.

Will Driscoll is jealous of Daniel 'dating' his attractive older woman (well, she's around 28, but is still older compared to him as he is still at school! And to make things worse she is his sports coach!)

Costello has been beaten up and is still in hospital.

Tall Kit and Sarah Platt are still an item.

Shona is not far off having hers and David Platt's baby.

DeeDee's left the show after conveniently being offered a high flying lawyer job in Singapore!

Carl, the Chuckle Brother has been getting down and dirty with James Bailey (again!) whilst Abi is totally oblivious. She is also oblivious to the fact that Carl is trying to find a way to move away from her (abroad) even though Abi has left Kevin for him (and took her son too!) Some may say it serves her right! 😬

Evelyn has come back again - hopefully for good this time!

I think Eva and Ben have the potential to be okay characters. Ollie is inoffensive so he can stay but the others can get right in the bin, along with whatever Daniel was putting there when he was attacked by the boy who attended a drama school that taught sticking your bottom lip out shows any emotion that isn't the happy one brought on by attention from his paedophile coach.

Yeah, I am sick of Will's petulant attitude, and his silly grizzly pouty look when things aren't going his way/when his paedophile coach is with Daniel/chatting to Daniel.. It's odd how nice his face looks when he smiles, compared to how utterly grim he looks when he has his mardy face on. 😆 It's such a contrast!

@Middlemarch123 I'd forgotten about Blanche's put downs! Evelyn is a brilliant character.

I agree. I loved her as Libby in Shameless. (She was in this with Aaron McCusker who plays her son Ben, about 15 years ago)

Oddly the actress (Pauline McGlynn) is only 16 years younger than Aaron. She does look more than 16 years older than him in Corrie - more like 22-25 years older. But in Shameless, there only appeared to be a 10-12 year age gap. She looks much older now. But I think it's the frumpy harridan they're presenting her as, rather than the fact the actress looks 'old.' IYSWIM.

Also tired of the Undead Becky bullshit now, and as others have said I am sick of Lisa Swain now. Her expressionless face, not able to make up her mind what she wants, pining for Carla, but then DTD with Becky.

And is it actually going to switch to half hour episodes now? I hope so! How many a week I wonder?

I think it's 5 episodes a week. Still half an hour less to film every week.

Sorry if it’s been mentioned already but it was very odd watching Emmerdale and someone asking Chas where her husband is taking her for the murder mystery Christmas present and her saying “some hotel in a place called Weatherfield”.

Scanning ahead at the schedules (but not too closely so that I don’t see the synopsis/spoilers), it looks like it’s on:

Monday 29th: 8-8:30
Tuesday 30th: 8-8:30
Wednesday 31st: 8-9pm
Thursday 1st: 8-9pm
Friday 2nd: 8-9pm
then…
Monday 5th: 7:30-8pm followed by CorrieDale: 8-9pm
Tuesday 6th: 8:30-9pm

and from thereon-in, it’s probably the daily half-hour slot.

I cannot stand Maggie Driscoll’s mouth. Well I can’t stand her in general but that godawful mouth …….

Speaking of Corriedale, will there be a separate thread for it?

Weatherfield is certainly the place for murder mysteries

I think it is realisation that they over reached with three hour long episodes

Will will definitely be caught for attacking Daniel, as it’s been at least 3 weeks since a Corrie teenager has been sent to the STC.

yes it was announced earlier this year that it would switch to 5 x 30 minute episodes, at 8.30 every weekday. As PP said, I think that starts on 6 Jan.

I don't know either. I haven't read much about it, but I assume whatever happens in that episode isn't 'separate', and it will affect ongoing Corrie storylines? As it's a Special I suppose at least one person will die!

I stopped watching Emmerdale about four years ago so while I know most of the characters I have no idea what has happened, so I doubt Corriedale will make a lot of sense to me.

(And I agree about Swain, totally expressionless, I can't stand her!)

The last time I watched Emmerdale it was called Emmerdale Farm. Can't say I'm looking forward to Corriedale, all the clips look dark and depressing.

Yes she was! A pp mentioned Blanche too. I guess I was harking back to the first of the matriarch types with sharp tongues. Ena Sharples was well named!

I liked Emmerdale Farm. I haven't seen Emmerdale since the plane crash.

Same here. Will it have any meaning for us non-Emmerdale watchers?
