It's all happening in the street!

Todd continues to be abused and manipulated by nasty Theo.

Carla is being kept hostage by evil Undead Becky the Bay City Roller! Lisa (Swain) is pining for Carla who she thinks has gone away on holiday, (but Lisa still did the deed with Undead Becky!) Hmm

Nasty Ma Driscoll has been turfed out of The Rovers Return by her son Ben, after her horrible Christmas day stunt of revealing to everyone that Eva has had an abortion.

Will Driscoll is jealous of Daniel 'dating' his attractive older woman (well, she's around 28, but is still older compared to him as he is still at school! And to make things worse she is his sports coach!)

Costello has been beaten up and is still in hospital.

Tall Kit and Sarah Platt are still an item.

Shona is not far off having hers and David Platt's baby.

DeeDee's left the show after conveniently being offered a high flying lawyer job in Singapore!

Carl, the Chuckle Brother has been getting down and dirty with James Bailey (again!) whilst Abi is totally oblivious. She is also oblivious to the fact that Carl is trying to find a way to move away from her (abroad) even though Abi has left Kevin for him (and took her son too!) Some may say it serves her right! 😬

Evelyn has come back again - hopefully for good this time!

I have probably missed some stuff! But we can catch up later! :)

Thanks for the new thread OP! Am I the only one who is sick of the two manipulative storylines that seem to be never ending i.e. Theo and Todd and Becky and Carla, also what's with soap world fixation with kidnapping? EastEnders, Emmerdale and Corrie all have had these unbelievable dramas!

I agree! I was just saying to my DH, why can people in soaps not just have a chilled Christmas day, with a nice roast meal or finger buffet, a game of Twister, Christmas cracker pulling, a few glasses of port, some karaoke, and an afternoon walk by the river? Why does there always have to be bad things happening, drama, relationship breakdowns, people full of hate and bile, and general discord? I mean, ALWAYS... Confused
(Maybe it would make the epsiode boing i dunno...)

@NebulousSadTimes · Today 15:04

I'm hoping that the tiny doubt Abi felt when she found the necklace, and which was put on the ignore pile when Chuckle Brother said he had found it, will keep niggling at her and demand to be considered.

Yes, I wish Abi would wake up and smell the coffee and see Carl for what he is! Can't wait for him to leave her in the shit though. LOL! 😆

@the80sweregreat · Today 15:50

This undead Becky is just horrible.
What does Lisa see in her ?

Yep, I agree. Literally no redeeming features. Not one.

@Americano75 · Today 15:18

Is it just me who's really really judging Lisa for sleeping with Becky?

Not just you. I was like 'oh for feck's sake Becky, just WHY?' Confused Then she was mooning after Carla 30 seconds later. Becky nuzzling Lisa's neck, and brushing her hair aside, made me feel queasy. Because Becky is so repugnant! Lisa and Carla are waaaay better together.

The ma driscoll character is just in it too much, do the writers never learn, INTRODUCE NEW CHARACTERS GRADUALLY!!!!

So agree. It's like she's taken over the show. I'm glad Evelyn is back. My personal fave and reminds me of Corrie when it began with Ena Sharples in that type of role.

Agree about Lisa and why would she even want Becky in her home in the first place

wouldn't the bed stink after Carl’s illicit fumblings and Abbie notice

stolenpromises · 26/12/2025 19:04

I cannot stand the maggie character.

Neither can I. Ditto Becky and Theo but Maggie is just so OTT.

The ma driscoll character is just in it too much, do the writers never learn, INTRODUCE NEW CHARACTERS GRADUALLY!!!!

This used to be the Corrie tradition. I used to think of characters as 'new' even after a couple of years. They seemed to have borrowed the big entrance for characters from EastEnders who have always billed newbies as someone who will 'shake up the square'. So far this year we have had Mick and Lou, Becky and now Ma Driscoll and her son in that role.

The problem is that so many producers and writers move from show to show and think on generic soap terms rather than appreciating each programmes unique style and strengths. This is one of the reasons I cannot get enthused for Corriedale. Another is that they seem to have put all their energy there and rushed out a lame Christmas episode. Two of the main plots depended on the lazy plot device of characters narrating out large chunks of the plot. Carla telling how she was kidnapped and Eva filling us in on her abortion, her fellah going back to his wife and miraculously bumping into Adam in Hull. I am surprised the assembled guests (who hardly knew the new family) could keep up especially with the added confusion of the letter to a dead baby.

I thought that! About Carl and James 'doing it' directly before Carl and Abi got intimate!

Abi even noticed the smell of someone's aftershave (James's..) And then there was the necklace too. Carl came up with some crap about the necklace being from an ex tenant. And Abi just bought it (seemingly,) and carried on slithering over him.

I don't want to sound gross and it's a bit TMI, but I imagine Carl still smelt of James. 🤢 It was just a few minutes after Carl and James had been 'intimate.'

Thistooshallpass. · 26/12/2025 19:59

Checking in … the Christmas episodes have been underwhelming.. I don’t care about the driscolls or awful Becky and Lisa . Should have been more Todd and Theo . Although glad Abi has found out about Carl .

Empress13 · 26/12/2025 20:00

Thank God the storyline with Randy Carl and James is coming to an end! Loved the way Tracey luv summed him up ! Sick to the back molars of undead Bay City Becky she grinds my gears as if glam Lisa would go for a plain boyish type of with zero dress🤢

Clawdy · 26/12/2025 20:25

Maggie is now a pantomime villain. Ludicrous.

JohnBullshit · 26/12/2025 21:26

Not sure what they were getting at with that ending. So Ma Driscoll framed some homeless guy for Daniel's head-bashing, got that, but she wouldn't use that as leverage, would she? She'd only be incriminating herself, not to mention the unlikelihood of grassing up her grandson.

timetogetlost · 26/12/2025 22:27

That Megan's a one, isn't she? Carrying on with Daniel and the little boy at the same time. Another character we don't care about, with no back story.

I thought Daniel was the homeless guy she stepped over.

JohnBullshit · 26/12/2025 23:26

@TheHillIsMine That's what she said earlier on, but at the end we saw her take Daniel's watch and wallet.

SabreIsMyFave · 26/12/2025 23:38

Well that was an odd ending. So grizzly faced Will whacked Daniel AGAIN, and Ma Driscoll robbed Daniel when he was on the floor (unconcious.) That is going to kind of clear the homeless guy who the police thought attacked Daniel, as he will be in custody won't he?

Also, why the fluff is Megan having a thing with young teenager Will, but also seeing Daniel? What's the point in her seeing Daniel - if she is in 'love' with Will?! Daft.

And Ma Driscoll is booted out again! They may as well have repeated last night's episode!

Glad Abi has discovered Carl is cheating (with James) though.

Can Becky just do one?! And take Ma Driscoll and Theo with her (And Will!)

I also thought - as a pp said - that Theo and Todd would be more the focus of the Christmas storylines, not some new family that people don't care about!!!

I don't feel like The Driscolls, and their shitty storylines are necessary at all.

@SabreIsMyFave I don’t think Will bashed Daniel again, we were just rewatching the previous (original bashing) nights events from Ma Driscoll’s window/view.

I don’t think it’s leverage, just showing us what happened & the kind of person she is. Eva better watch out!

Freysimo · 27/12/2025 07:23

Who was looking after Bertie when Daniel was attacked? Please producers put child "actor" out of his misery and recast, he obviously hates it.

It was a flashback scene at the end of the episode. Not sure why it was shown then.

Maggie watched Will thump Daniel in the ginnel from her upstairs window at Rovers.

(Strange timing as I thought she had been thrown out of the Rovers by then and would have been in Chariot Square Hotel! )
Maggie then stole Daniel's belongings and presumably planted them on the poor innocent homeless man who was later arrested.
I think it shows how ruthless Maggie is and what she will do to protect her ' boys'.
