It's all happening in the street!

Todd continues to be abused and manipulated by nasty Theo.

Carla is being kept hostage by evil Undead Becky the Bay City Roller! Lisa (Swain) is pining for Carla who she thinks has gone away on holiday, (but Lisa still did the deed with Undead Becky!) Hmm

Nasty Ma Driscoll has been turfed out of The Rovers Return by her son Ben, after her horrible Christmas day stunt of revealing to everyone that Eva has had an abortion.

Will Driscoll is jealous of Daniel 'dating' his attractive older woman (well, she's around 28, but is still older compared to him as he is still at school! And to make things worse she is his sports coach!)

Costello has been beaten up and is still in hospital.

Tall Kit and Sarah Platt are still an item.

Shona is not far off having hers and David Platt's baby.

DeeDee's left the show after conveniently being offered a high flying lawyer job in Singapore!

Carl, the Chuckle Brother has been getting down and dirty with James Bailey (again!) whilst Abi is totally oblivious. She is also oblivious to the fact that Carl is trying to find a way to move away from her (abroad) even though Abi has left Kevin for him (and took her son too!) Some may say it serves her right! 😬

Evelyn has come back again - hopefully for good this time!

I have probably missed some stuff! But we can catch up later! :)

Yes, it was a flash back, but did we see the homeless guy she framed? Maybe I missed a bit. How did she do it?

Andepeda · 27/12/2025 08:52

I find it hard to believe Eva would put up with her. I could understand the odd comment, but it's open hostility all the time.

The child is a nightmare, is she meant to be amusing? Overkill all round.

zanahoria · 27/12/2025 09:00

So Will is battering Daniel over the head and nearly killing him but Maggie still does not twig he is obsessed with his coach?

This is woman who is usually utterly obsessed with the love lives of her boys?

It feels like Mick and Lou all over again. They have introduced a family of scumbags criminals and put them centre stage. At least Mick and Lou did not own the Rovers.

And Why are people so blase about crime?

Adam should have turned round and told Eva's new bloke that he had commited an assault in front of witnesses then reminded the fist happy mammy's boy he had punched someone who knows about the law.

I find the little girl a totally unbelievable character. Even if children like her do exist why make her one? The foster girls at Sally's are far more realistic imo.

The precocious child is a soap obsession.

Another is the love triangle where two of the participants squabble over the third for months. Does anyone behave like that in real life? All that absurd talk about fighting for someone with the piggy in the middle sat there cluelessly ?

@SabreIsMyFave I don’t think Will bashed Daniel again, we were just rewatching the previous (original bashing) nights events from Ma Driscoll’s window/view.

Oh were we?! I must have been a bit tired when I watched it. Thank you. I'm an idiot! 😆

Thanks to @1reason too. 😘(And @Clawdy )

Off topic a bit, but I just watched Who Wants To Be A Millionaire from last night, and Channique who plays (did play) DeeDee was on it. She seemed lovely, and looked so vibrant and smiley. Shame DeeDee became such an annoying maudlin character! 😆 The real life actress couldn't be more different!

@SabreIsMyFave i saw her too and it’s such a shame that she went on last on only got 8k for her two charities before the klaxon went I thought

No, we did not see the homeless man who has now been framed for the assault on Daniel.
So many of Corrie plots seem to be unseen / off screen now. This of course includes Becky's recent kidnap of Carla.
I really just want an easy watch from a soap!

Oh, did she only leave with the £8K? Is it not carrying on then? Like, does it not continue like the civilian one does? (I really need to pay more attention to stuff! This is what happens when you watch something on TV, when you're scrolling through/posting on the internet!)😆

Yes, give me effortless, please. I still haven't entirely got the Driscoll males sorted in my head. And it should be absolutely clear when something key has happened off-stage, as it were, but instead so many of us wonder if we missed it.

AmusedMaker · 27/12/2025 11:22

The Driscoll family really have taken over haven’t they.
I quite like Eva & Ben though.
Can’t stand Maggie & Will, and the other one ( Ollie? ) just doesn’t seem to do much at all. Just sort of stands around. Do we know who’s the mother of Will & Ollie?
it’s a shame about the Maggie character because Pauline McLynn could ( & should have ) been a great asset to the show.
on a separate note, they really need to get rid of Kirk. The ‘village idiot’ role is long past its sell by date, he isn’t remotely funny or even a tiny bit charming.

When I saw Carla in the cupboard I thought I'd missed an episode. Ridiculous story line and same with Emmerdale Xmas kidnap. 😡

Victoriaqueen · 27/12/2025 11:57

@AmusedMaker

I do agree about the village idiot characters which soaps tend to have. The storylines such as they are can do without the likes of Kirk and Sam in the Dales.

I agree.

Did Eva say something about Ben having gone back to his wife when she discovered she was pregnant, hence the abortion? So perhaps his wife is Ollie & Will's mum, but why they are with him I don't know. Perhaps TC Driscoll bumped her off.

I think Eva and Ben have the potential to be okay characters. Ollie is inoffensive so he can stay but the others can get right in the bin, along with whatever Daniel was putting there when he was attacked by the boy who attended a drama school that taught sticking your bottom lip out shows any emotion that isn't the happy one brought on by attention from his paedophile coach.

Yes I think they should let it roll over like they do with non celebrity contestants

PrincessScarlett · 27/12/2025 13:13

Ma Driscoll is such a vile character. I've never been a fan of Eva but my god she's got a shitty MIL.

When Ma Driscoll was lovely to Asha I thought she was going to be a sweetheart but she is so bitter and nasty and quite happy to break the law to protect her boys. Such a shame as the actress is great and could have been an amazing addition.

CantThinkOfAnotherUsernane · 27/12/2025 13:24

Lisa’s getting on my nerves, she flits between the kitchen and living room either looking at her phone or holding a glass of wine whilst looking miserable.
When her character was first introduced she was nothing like she is now, can’t stand Becky neither oh and did Carla not twig that her hands were tied in front of her therefore she could have easily removed the gag from her mouth!

zanahoria · 27/12/2025 14:22

I hate Ben. He flits between being a soppy mammy's boy and a thug. He is even prepared to take his mum back if she apologises, not sure how that covers it really. Who would want to go back playing happy families after that?

Americano75 · 27/12/2025 15:58

I remember when Evelyn first came in and she was a massive bitch too, they'll likely do similar with Maggie. She does show signs of being nice as well as nasty.

strugglingwithlife · 27/12/2025 16:00

I don't like Maggie. Don't like Will. Can't stand Theo, Becky or Carl.
Pleased that Abi has found out about Carl and James

I don’t think so. Jeremy said that when the klaxon went, that’s all she would be going with unfortunately

Shellingbynight · 27/12/2025 17:40

@SabreIsMyFave Thank you for the new thread. I agree with you, I had to think twice about what was going on at the end too, I only realised it was a flashback when Ma Driscoll took the watch and phone. However she was hamming it up right from the start like a panto villain (oh yes she was) so I should have realised she had more to do with it. She and Will both need to get in the bin.

I am fast forwarding all the Dead Becky stuff, I can't be doing with it. As Carla is tied up in a bunker I assume the storyline is nearing an end.

I do prefer the half-hour episodes, I'm glad it's switching to that permanently now.

I was hoping for a more dramatic discovery, sneaking a look at his phone was a tad disappointing.

Not sure where they go with Abi now ...... please not back to Kev

Middlemarch123 · 27/12/2025 19:23

Carla in the cupboard is doing my head in. Just use your hands and take the gag off and scream the place down. Bianca in Eastenders, when she was held hostage by Sonia’s vile husband, would have got out of that cupboard in seconds. Bloody bonkers. Don’t care if Abi feels hurt for uncovering horrible Carl’s affair, deserves everything she gets.
Ma Driscoll can get in the bin too. Though I love, love, love the way Evelyn puts her in her place, ‘But your opinion doesn’t matter “, classic Blanche from the good old days.
