It's all happening in the street!

Todd continues to be abused and manipulated by nasty Theo.

Carla is being kept hostage by evil Undead Becky the Bay City Roller! Lisa (Swain) is pining for Carla who she thinks has gone away on holiday, (but Lisa still did the deed with Undead Becky!) Hmm

Nasty Ma Driscoll has been turfed out of The Rovers Return by her son Ben, after her horrible Christmas day stunt of revealing to everyone that Eva has had an abortion.

Will Driscoll is jealous of Daniel 'dating' his attractive older woman (well, she's around 28, but is still older compared to him as he is still at school! And to make things worse she is his sports coach!)

Costello has been beaten up and is still in hospital.

Tall Kit and Sarah Platt are still an item.

Shona is not far off having hers and David Platt's baby.

DeeDee's left the show after conveniently being offered a high flying lawyer job in Singapore!

Carl, the Chuckle Brother has been getting down and dirty with James Bailey (again!) whilst Abi is totally oblivious. She is also oblivious to the fact that Carl is trying to find a way to move away from her (abroad) even though Abi has left Kevin for him (and took her son too!) Some may say it serves her right! 😬

Evelyn has come back again - hopefully for good this time!

I have probably missed some stuff! But we can catch up later! :)

I was impressed. Usually hate these big, accident episodes but this time really well done. But poor Billy and wish it had been Theo killed off. Nice touch with the short scene with Ken and Emmerdale actor (who I vaguely remember from Emmerdale the last time I watched it probably 24 years ago so I assume is also a long-running cast member).

HaddyAbrams · 06/01/2026 08:26

I enjoyed the Corriedale episode, even though i had to watch it on my phone as the tv just wouldn't load it. I sobbed at Billy reciting the Lord's Prayer, and again when Summer cried.
I'm glad Theo didn't die, I'd like to think hes going to get a proper punishment.
I hope Debbie's dress being torn will be somehow because Carl dragged her across the car and will be proof she wasn't driving.
I've never watched Emmerdale, but unfathomably knew who Cain was. I know nothing about him, but I knew he was called Cain.

Shellingbynight · 06/01/2026 08:36

They did a 'car crash driver swap' in EastEnders several years ago, where the driver Janine (baddy) made it look as if Linda (goody, but had been drinking) was driving. It took quite a while for her to be found out.

I'm sure Corriedale worked better if you watch both soaps, but I haven’t watched Emmerdale for several years. On the Corrie side for me it was an overblown stunt with too many storylines packed into it, but only one death (and not the right one!) Poor old Billy. The Becky sideshow should have been kept out of it.

Carla had been in that container for a week but had not had a wee? She just looked slightly disheveled and after a sip of water was good to go.

zanahoria · 06/01/2026 08:55

I never enjoy the stunt disaster episodes and do not watch Emmerdale but actually quite enjoyed it. The interactions between the two casts were well done mainly limited to short casual conversations between strangers. I was fearing it would be much more cheesey

zanahoria · 06/01/2026 09:01

I just hope they quickly wind in all the villains - having Becky, Carl and Theo on the go is getting tedious

SabreIsMyFave · 06/01/2026 09:21

WhatJustHappenedCelia · 06/01/2026 06:31

Yes, me too. Did we watch the wrong thing?!

I’m also confused by Carl’s bag of money having the Weatherfield Gazette under the first layer of money. Had Abi stolen the cash and bulked it out with newspaper? But, if so, what was the point as it wasn’t revealed before he crashed so now seems pointless?

Carla looking glam and being able to run and help lift/push a car when she has kidney failure and has been held captive for however long seemed far fetched. As did everyone forgetting Billy and the likes of Steve and Cassie just wandering around not trying to help anyone.

Still a great episode though. Summer sobbing at the end broke me!

I did think Carla being gagged and bound for a week or more (maybe even close to 2 weeks - including the time in the place Undead Becky was holding her before,) and then just acting as if it had been just an hour or two was a bit odd. I'd have thought she would have needed an ambulance. But you have to suspend belief and reality now and again with Corrie! (And some other shows really....)

Summer sobbing was sad I agree. 😢

Not sure about the cash bag scenario either.

Yes and me actually. I wonder if the actor wanted to leave? Or if he's been axed?

Same here, never thought I'd miss Billy, he usually annoyed me!

He was axed. He did not want to go.

emsiewill · 06/01/2026 09:29

Long time lurker on the Corrie threads (don't think I've ever posted though), long time watcher of Corrie (the earliest thing I remember is Tracy Barlow's christening). I was surprised by how much I enjoyed Corriedale. Didn't bother me that I didn't really understand the Emmerdale stuff, although I did watch it years ago and knew who some of the cast were.

Laughed out loud when Swain slapped the cuffs on Becky, ridiculous, but a great touch. Loved Steve recognising "Vik", and loved the interaction between Ken and Eric Pollard (was it just me, or did they seem to know each other / have a mutual friend?). Cried when Summer collapsed into Todd's arms, and can't bear that Todd now seems to have no escape from the awful Theo.

There was a "driver swap" incident fairly recently in The Archers - the aftermath of that storyline is still ongoing, with the perp just released from jail (having been found out eventually and done for perverting the course of justice) and having a difficult time back in the community. Seems soap storyline writers don't have many original thoughts.

SabreIsMyFave · 06/01/2026 09:31

So will we see a new vicar and do we know who ended Ray's reign?

(Carla still wearing the underwear and leggings she was kidnapped in. Whiffy or what!) 👃

I liked Ken and Eric's short scene and think a new friendship between them would be good but doubt it will be possible.

Summer sobbing was the best acting of the night!

Perhaps it wasn't just acting.

I thought that about Ken and Pollard too - it was when Ken asked after Jacob. Since Layla died Pollard seems to call him Jakey like his mum used to, so it felt strange when he called him Jacob like Pollard used to. There was a familiarity because I don’t think we saw any interaction between them in the episode until they were at the vending machine, it felt like they already knew each other rather than just passing strangers.

Shellingbynight · 06/01/2026 10:07

@emsiewill was the Archers driver swap storyline George and Alice? I was listening back then but stopped shortly after. George was a major annoyance!

Yes, that's the one. George is still a major annoyance to many people, and was hit over the head with a bottle of wine on NYE, as part of The Archers 75th anniversary celebrations (what a way to celebrate!). They are now setting up many annoying red herrings to make us "excited" to find out whodunnit. One of the suspects is Harrison Burns, otherwise known as nasty Theo...everything is circular in soap world it seems. How long til "The Corchers" or "Archernation Street"?

Shellingbynight · 06/01/2026 10:15

He definitely deserved it, I think most of the audience as well as the cast would like to lamp George!

Ooh is Harrison back in TA?? He had just left on his mission the last time I listened to an episode. It gives me hope that Theo will soon be gone from Corrie, I doubt the actor can do both for long! Of course 'Todd' was in TA as well, doing a lovely Welsh accent as Gavin. As you say, everything is circular!

Re - the money and Abi.

In the episode where Abi and Carl arrived at the hotel for the wedding Abi had already discovered Carl’s stolen money from his sister. We saw her look at a pile of gazettes that were in their boot. Later on in the episode she took the money and put the gazettes in the bottom of the bag and put a little bit of the money back.

thenightsky · 06/01/2026 10:21

I thought that was why we got so many scenes of Abi hanging on to her wheelie suitcase.

Gingercar · 06/01/2026 10:38

Yes it probably was. What happened to her wheelie? Was it in Kevin’s car? Surely Carl will be easily found out? Kevin and Abi knew, and she is so tiny she wouldn’t be able to reach Carl’s pedals. And everyone in the hotel was at the window watching him drive off! Plus the cctv!

Change2banon · 06/01/2026 10:38

Debbie: oh look at that, I’ve ripped me frock

Complete carnage all around, pitch black, wrapped in a blanket, covered in mud/smoke from head to toe - Absolutely had me in stitches 🤣🤣🤣

Re Theo and his comeuppance , it really annoyed me when Geoff just fell off the roof after abusing Yasmeen for so long, I wanted him to go to jail for rest of his life!

eggandonion · 06/01/2026 10:47

Going to jail for life is good. Going to jail and hooking up with other Corrie people less good.
Faraway jail like Max would be uk.
