Happy New Year everyone! We're sailing into 2026! CORONATION STREET THREAD. **No spoilers please.**

It's all happening in the street!

Todd continues to be abused and manipulated by nasty Theo.

Carla is being kept hostage by evil Undead Becky the Bay City Roller! Lisa (Swain) is pining for Carla who she thinks has gone away on holiday, (but Lisa still did the deed with Undead Becky!) Hmm

Nasty Ma Driscoll has been turfed out of The Rovers Return by her son Ben, after her horrible Christmas day stunt of revealing to everyone that Eva has had an abortion.

Will Driscoll is jealous of Daniel 'dating' his attractive older woman (well, she's around 28, but is still older compared to him as he is still at school! And to make things worse she is his sports coach!)

Costello has been beaten up and is still in hospital.

Tall Kit and Sarah Platt are still an item.

Shona is not far off having hers and David Platt's baby.

DeeDee's left the show after conveniently being offered a high flying lawyer job in Singapore!

Carl, the Chuckle Brother has been getting down and dirty with James Bailey (again!) whilst Abi is totally oblivious. She is also oblivious to the fact that Carl is trying to find a way to move away from her (abroad) even though Abi has left Kevin for him (and took her son too!) Some may say it serves her right! 😬

Evelyn has come back again - hopefully for good this time!

I have probably missed some stuff! But we can catch up later! :)

Something that has been bugging me.
Carla is meant to be in in Portugal (? Somewhere abroad ?)

When you ring a UK mobile phone when that mobile phone is abroad ....the ring connection changes to the abroad ring.

UK ring ; ring,ring ring, ring ring,ring.....
AB ring ; riiiinnnngggg , rrriiiinnnnnngggg

Ie a longer ring .

Has it changed ?

Why would they not here the difference.

I know some of the calls went straight to voicemail, but Betsy did ring and get through .

Would that ring not be the same if it's a mobile phone @bizzey ? I'm not sure.. I can't remember the last time I phoned someone on a mobile phone abroad. When anyone I know is abroad, we communicate via Facebook or WhatsApp. Have done for over a decade.

I do find it odd however, that they couldn't track where Carla's phone was when she (Carla) was ringing Lisa, and when Becky was texting pretending to be Carla? Can they not trace where it's coming from? Triangulation or something? Lisa is a cop after all.

I thought this. My DH's mum upset me once, many years ago when we had been together about 8 months, (when I was at their house - DH still lived with her then,) and I got upset, grabbed my bag, and went for the front door. I was embarrassed and upset and wasn't spending another second in that house.

DH was almost in tears begging me to stay, and was terrified I was going to end it with him. He said 'please don't leave, don't finish with me.' I said 'I'm not gonna, I'm just never coming back here!' He said 'how can we keep seeing each other if you won't come to my house?' I just shrugged my shoulders and walked towards the gate.

He went back into the house and yelled at his mum for upsetting me, and driving me away, and said 'if she finishes with me now I will NEVER forgive you. She's the first girl I've ever really liked, and we were going to look for somewhere to live together soon and you're driven her away!'

Long story short, a few hours later, she phoned my house and gave a grovelling apology. Said she overreacted and was very sorry for how she spoke to me, and to please come to Sunday lunch next weekend ....

She never upset me again. I don't think she liked the version of DH that she saw. Shock Luckily that version is rare!!!

tl'dr why on EARTH is Ben letting Ma Driscoll be such a vile cow to Eva? And accepting that pathetic non-apology?! My DH would have NEVER accepted that behaviour from his mum.

The thing that really irks me about Corrie is that they will do an abuse plot like Todd/Theo with heavy signposts to show how they disapprove of it but then portray this as just something Eva should put up with.

She should tell him he is a sad little man who is handy with his fists but scared of his mother or at very least a scene with a sympathetic ear - maybe Alya who stood up for - to make it clear how abhorrent abortion shaming is.

@SabreIsMyFave even if Lisa was shown a photo of Carla tied up in a cupboard, she'd still think she was having a nice stay in a hotel 😆

I was disappointed by Ben. He was so positive about chucking out Ma Driscoll, then suddenly she's back. But I suppose that's the reality when she owns the pub, I'm surprised she didn't just refuse to leave.

But Eva really should stand up for herself, she's letting Ma get away with it.

Agree that the big storyline is Todd & Theo’s abusive relationship, yet Mum Driscoll is basically bullying Eva at every turn and she’s supposed to just shrug it off?

Hmmm, not sure. I think we (on here) had a feeling it was some kind of code, and that someone (maybe Kit or Lisa) would realise Carla is in trouble. Like the Ask For Angela thing that women say if they're in trouble/in an abusive situation...

But it looks like it's just a weird name Carla made up on the spot, when Becky had a knife held to her. Kit is suspicious of it though as the website is so basic, and he can't seem to book a room.

Don’t care about Abi and her Tracy inspired revenge, it would be good if her and Carl stayed together, because no one else would be affected by either of the pair of them. If ever a couple deserves each it’s this horrible pair.
