Anyone seen this? I’ve always liked VB and did enjoy this insight into her fashion business but I did find when she was talking about how she nearly lost the business I lost some sympathy. I have no doubt it was stressful but having a millionaire husband to bail you out isn’t the same as what other people deal with when they lose a business and I thought it was a bit tone deaf of her to be sat crying about it when there’s a COL crisis!

Harper is turning out to be a lovely young lady and seemed to have a nice relationship with both V and D.

I found it quite boring, more like an extended advert for her fashion business than much about her.

Elizabethandfour · 10/10/2025 17:26

I am only two episodes in and find it quite boring. No other business would be given the life support her business has It just wouldn’t happen no matter who her investors were. She is not a designer clearly and I find most of the clothes a bit meh.

Itstheshowgirl · 10/10/2025 17:26

I think it’s fine for her to show her feelings, it is literally a show about her so of course she will talk about things that made an impact on her and clearly that did in a big way. The fact that other people have it worse is neither here nor there.

That said it is a bit boring, David’s was better.

childrenwatchthefools · 10/10/2025 17:27

It was so staged - especially the last scene where the two of them are sitting chatting - it was embarrassingly so! Also she is always draped all over him whereas he couldn’t give a shit about her, his body language is always so off. i kept waiting for something exciting to happen but it didn’t - her fashion show looked cool though, and i do quite like her clothes (not that I can afford them!) but I do wonder what the point of the series was as it was very vague and yes, all about her business and wheeling out some celeb mates. I also get bored of the ‘oh she’s so funny’ narrative when she certainly didn’t seem remotely funny in this - just a bit boring tbh.

This. It was really boring.

Wildehorses · 10/10/2025 17:29

The vibe I got from it is that David finds her annoying … they don’t seem particularly happy

Runningismyhappyplace50 · 10/10/2025 17:29

I like VB but found it a little dull.

Agree, Harper seems lovely and has a great relationship with both parents.

Purpose was probably to promote her fashion business.

monicagellerbing · 10/10/2025 17:32

Yes I forgot to mention I thought David seemed irritated with her most of the time, even when he was trying to be nice it seemed to have an undercurrent of annoyance!

Who is that vile man at 29:38 in the first episode who calls VB 'just a common little bitch?' WTF.

Algoquick · 10/10/2025 20:06

During the prep for the fashion show, she just seemed to sit there and not have much of a clue how to deal with issues. She just seemed frozen. It made me wonder exactly what input she provides and who is really running the business. I thought David was quite ignorant to her in first episode with the Vitamix blender thing. I wouldn’t have put that in the programme. He came across as an utter dick. I’ve no opinion on her really apart from being out of her depth. I admit I may be wrong. Just how it looked to me.

Brian Sewell, art critic.

He was also a twat about Tracey Emin and female artists more generally…

Fraudornot · 10/10/2025 20:37

I haven’t watched it yet but doubt it will be a real insight to her life. She clearly has an eating disorder, the family are not as happy as they portray as Brooklyn is no contact and David has had numerous affairs which she has put up with. What a life - wouldn’t take it for all that money

Sarover · 10/10/2025 20:38

I am not a fashion expert and certainly couldn't afford her clothes but I can appreciate them lot. They are really elegant and beautifully fitted. I also like that those in know (like Anna Wintour) and other high profile women like Kate Middleton wear them. I find that pleasing because despite naming herself 'posh' she has always come across as the classic nouveau riche try hard who is actually not classy at all. The kind of people who write for newspapers can't believe someone like this could be properly successful among properly classy people. Hence Brian Sewell's truly awful dismissal of her as a 'bitch'. And by bitch he means a working class woman with confidence. There has never been any evidence at all that she is a bitch, let alone unpleasant. It's just that men like Brian Sewell don't like women like her rising above their station.

So, I've always quite wanted VB to be secretly funny, clever, creative and successful to prove men like Brian Sewell and AA Gill wrong. And, her business has finally become successful. But this 'documentary' doesn't really show how or why. It's almost like the people who made it were giving the game away and VB didn't notice. She hardly seems creatively involved at all. Her role in the company seems to be standing around looking nervous and asking her staff if they should tweak various things a bit. She says she started off at a disadvantage as she can't sketch designs. That's fair enough. But I was waiting to see what her creative process actually was. There was some talk about draping fabrics around herself. But we didn't see her do it. We didn't witness any creation at all. It was just three episodes of dullness.

Also, some big topics were simply ignored. VB does seem to want people to have a glimpse of her interior life. She hints at her difficulties after the Spice Girls as if it was a personal struggle but made no mention of the fact that during their time in Madrid David was (allegedly) having affairs. So, it wasn't a case of her being over sensitive or fragile. She was humiliated in public. Also, she briefly and in passing mentions her eating disorders but did not discuss how they came about or how she overcame them (if she has).

I wanted to like this, and her. But it came across as a very long, dull and shallow promotional video for her company. A real missed opportunity. Her advisors and/or the people making the programme could have made her interesting or created the impression that she is a dynamic and creative business woman. They didn't do this. And VB doesn't seem to have noticed.

The more I saw, the less I liked 🤷‍♀️

That's sad if it is case. I am married to a man who just finds me annoying for being me. Not nice at all.

Throw in the affairs that DB has had, the eating disorders and the horrific press bullying VB has gone through. She must have a lot of inner turmoil. Maybe that is why she is so desperate for her business to succeed when most people would have jacked it in. I feel for her.

Indigovelvet · 10/10/2025 22:13

I like her but David looking irritated with her or pretending not to be irritated with her confirms he's an A.O.

Jamesblonde2 · 10/10/2025 22:15

I like her clothing range. I also feel sorry for her as she seems unfulfilled and assured.

FeckedInFrance · 10/10/2025 22:27

Like VB, but found the programme very dull. I wanted to like I, but I struggled through it and switched off in episode 2. I then went on to watch the Harry & Meghan series on Netflix because it was recommended by their algorithm but found that even more boring. Not sure I’ll bother with a Netflix documentary again.

Buxusmortus · 10/10/2025 22:50

I had enjoyed the David Beckham one but this was so boring. Unfortunately she just isn't an interesting or charismatic person. Just because you love clothes doesn't mean you can turn into a fashion designer, I didn't get the impression she did much actual designing, she just tweaked.
I also find her lip filler so awful to look at, she's got such a jutting top lip, so obvious when they had lots of film of her when she was younger with normal lips.

Cynic17 · 10/10/2025 22:56

I've always said that the secret to the Beckhams is that they are ordinary, so people feel like they can be like them and relate to them. Yes, David had a great talent, which helped him to make his way in the world, but Victoria didn't. It was hilarious that she was nicknamed "Posh", because she's clearly anything but - she's aspirational, lower-middle class.
But they have worked hard, cultivated the brand, stayed married (quite an achievement), so I don't begrudge them their success.
Whether they are happy..... who knows?

Lollypop701 · 10/10/2025 22:58

I took it for what it was, a promotional look at her career. It was fine. Nothing too personal. I think she is quite insecure and so couldn’t be as out there as David… there’s probably a lot of reasons for this but it’s her life and she’s decided to stick with it.

She is obviously driven and tbf successful, her designs are beautiful… no business is without its tribulations. the message of persuing her dreams, working hard and loving family is a good one. If that’s her actual reality who knows.. being under the spotlight for 20 odd years can’t be easy. I think it was as honest as she probably can be

BruisedNeckMeat · 10/10/2025 23:08

I‘m currently watching E3 and am
bored - hence looking for a MN thread at the same time.

I agree it’s an extended promotional advert for her brand. I even had a quick look at her website - £110 for a plain t-shirt or £320 for a hoodie! Not sure the average Netflix viewer will be buying!

Untailored · 10/10/2025 23:11

I think she’s done really well to establish her fashion business - they were all quite clear about how hard it is and the massive amount of snobbery in the industry but she’s managed to overcome that. Good for her.

INX · 10/10/2025 23:13

I like VB but I was very disappointed in how boring this was.
