Anyone seen this? I’ve always liked VB and did enjoy this insight into her fashion business but I did find when she was talking about how she nearly lost the business I lost some sympathy. I have no doubt it was stressful but having a millionaire husband to bail you out isn’t the same as what other people deal with when they lose a business and I thought it was a bit tone deaf of her to be sat crying about it when there’s a COL crisis!

Harper is turning out to be a lovely young lady and seemed to have a nice relationship with both V and D.

Good post ⬆️. I feel sorry for her but she’s a spectacularly dull person, vacuous and no real talent, that said she’s made very little go a long way. Maybe all the insecurity comes from imposter syndrome and explains the micro management of her family and employees. She just doesn’t seem remotely happy.

TheaBrandt1 · 14/10/2025 07:23

She’s not a bad person but is clueless. Agree making out she’s had a really tough time whilst being bank rollled by her husband. Marie Antoinette springs to mind.

It was so staged - especially the last scene where the two of them are sitting chatting - it was embarrassingly so! Also she is always draped all over him whereas he couldn’t give a shit about her, his body language is always so off. i kept waiting for something exciting to happen but it didn’t - her fashion show looked cool though, and i do quite like her clothes (not that I can afford them!) but I do wonder what the point of the series was as it was very vague and yes, all about her business and wheeling out some celeb mates. I also get bored of the ‘oh she’s so funny’ narrative when she certainly didn’t seem remotely funny in this - just a bit boring tbh.

I think the point was for VB to get some cash of her own

opencecilgee · 14/10/2025 07:49

I don’t understand why, if she was truly passionate for design, she would put herself through fashion college

same with the son. He likes cooking but not going to do it the usual way / by taking an apprenticeship under a master chef. He would prefer to do modelling rather than learn a craft

Because it’s just easier to throw money at things. When you have money there’s no real reason in their minds to do the ‘boring stuff’ of your chosen career. They just want to be fast tracked to the glitzy glamour bits.

When Brooklyn wanted to be a photographer he did actually start a photography course but didn’t even finish the first year but still had his awful photography book published which he was totally ridiculed for. He got an internship with Rankin due to his parents connections and again it was a disaster because it was reported that he didn’t know the basics. Who knows if he would have been a competent or even good photographer because he just wanted to fast track to publishing books and doing photo shoots without doing the graft to get there. Photography is more than just taking pretty pictures.

Ditto with him wanting to be a chef. He doesn’t want to go to culinary school and learn how to chop carrots and learn about flavours. He just wants to be a celebrity chef appearing on television showing people how to make sandwiches.

Victoria is the same. Why learn about pattern design and cutting out your own patterns when you can just ring up your mate Roland Mouret to get a foot in the door and give you a few pointers and get your husband to pay for it all. Next thing you’re organising fashion shows and spending thousands on flowers to make it all look pretty getting adulation from your mates. I wouldn’t even call her fashion brand successful. It lost money for 15 years and only remained in business due to David. It only had a successful year in 2022 when she got another investor and that apparently in large part to her make up line. It is now back to losing money, 4.8 million at the latest count when her profit in 2022 was £200000 so actually a drop in the ocean compared to the losses.

They’re just like children. They want to do something and they throw money at it but don’t actually acquire the skills to do it properly.

TheaBrandt1 · 14/10/2025 08:18

Agree. It’s because as a quirk of luck that’s how she got successful in the first place. Leapt to the front of the queue different rules apply. She now thinks that’s normal and worse has taught her offspring that’s how life works too. Which I guess it kind of does if you are as wealthy and connected as they are but people see through it particularly for the next generation. The luck / stardust doesn’t quite stretch that far….

LifestyleChanges · 14/10/2025 09:51

Also, did anyone else feel the editors of the documentary didn’t share VB’s agenda? That scene with the make up brush pouch and the zip was ridiculous. The time spent on it, the way the camera focused on the pouch at the end, made it look like exactly what it was, someone playing 'make-believe' at being a designer. The pouch itself looked like something off AliExpress for £1.99 and she was talking about an intentional zip. It made me think that was the limit of her design input.

Middlemarch123 · 14/10/2025 09:54

She’s the equivalent of a little girl dressing up her dolls in my mind. She’s playing with fashion because she can.

Dooaleapa · 14/10/2025 10:33

Frankly she should stop with the sunk cost fallacy and give up the clothes business. Her makeup line is awesome however and I believe that is where her true knowledge lies. I use a lot of her range because they are so spot on with what works, feels luxurious and you can tell that a lot of work has gone into creating them to be so beautifully user friendly.

Indigovelvet · 14/10/2025 11:39

Yes her makeup is Brill. Great quality. Hope she continues that line - she knows her stuff!

JMSA · 14/10/2025 21:11

I like her and wish her well.
But boy, she’s had a lot of luck come her way over the years. To be fair, she knows this. But I’m not sure many aspiring fashion designers would get a hand up (or handout!) from Roland Mouret.

But she’s hardly in the labs mixing pigment and formulae is she?! I mean, how much does she actually do for that other than select colours and help select the packaging design? The eyeliners are great, but it’s thanks to expert cosmetic chemists that made them great, surely? I don’t know, perhaps I’m missing something 🤷‍♀️

I’m a little younger than VB, have seen her grow up through the lens of celebrity and have always found her clear lack of self-assurance uncomfortable to watch. I think a lot of celebs have a form of arrested development because they simply haven’t been able / wanted to grow up and nurture themselves privately.

Scrollers · 14/10/2025 21:24

My main take out was that it is hard to see how she has much of hand in designing those clothes.

She went from dressing in a very tacky and trashy way to designing these extremely elegant, simple clothes. This was never, ever her style. Personality driven brands are often an extension of the designers style, Ralph Lauren, Stella McCartney, Donnatella Versace, Calvin Klein, Phoebe Philo etc

VB initially launched a range that was totally different to her personal look. She’s wearing it now but it’s strange how it all evolved.

She doesn’t she is just the name behind the brand. Others do the designing etc for her

I was internally sniggering at how deadly important they made it all. “We will have to work all night” and the angst when it rained. Dear god. I couldn’t work in that industry.

I felt when the rain hit and things started to fall apart VB wasn't really leading from the front. She just looked bemused. They planned an outside event in Paris, did they not factor in a rain scenario?

Unhinderedd · 15/10/2025 10:12

I felt that the doc was set up to show VB as a superhero business owner busting a gut against the odds - especially the race against the clock and the rain on the last episode - but by then wasn’t rooting for her as didn’t believe any of her blood sweat and tears had actually been expended at any time on the business - it was just a rich wives indulgent pass time where she was discharging her unresolved emotional deep hurt angst around her blighted marriage.

jumpingthehighjump · 15/10/2025 10:14

I just wish we could've seen the real her. Or was that it?

Does she ever pig out on chips, drink too much, stay up too late bingeing a NF series whilst chowing down on bags of kettle crisps. Is she any fun and does she ever let her guard down even with her family is what I mean

No, no she doesn’t pig out on chips. The jury’s out on the drinking part though. She’s been papped looking the worse for wear before now, being guided by her irritated husband to their waiting car. If he was a decent person, he would have surely arranged for the car to meet them at the back of the venue, instead of parading his obviously drunk wife in front of the cameras.

Bladderpool · 15/10/2025 17:54

With her frame and lack of food she probably gets pished after 2 glasses of wine to be fair.

Apparently She does smoke which I recall reading once

TheaBrandt1 · 16/10/2025 06:28

Look at her! She will be a stranger to kettle crisps. To stay that thin at 50 it will be all water / white fish / gym.

Unhindered spot on - it’s a hobby type business for a wealthy spouse like the millionaires wife that had a clothes boutique in our village. Expecting an audience of normal women working real stressful jobs to support their families to empathise with her self inflicted struggle against the rain was quite a stretch!

Icebreakhell · 16/10/2025 06:43

I’m surprised they’re still married after he wasted all those tens of millions propping up her vanity project. Agree with above poster that it’s the upscale equivalent of one of those local ‘boutiques’ owned by bored wife of rich man. He looks irritated. Living with someone who is clearly very insecure and with an eating disorder must be hard.

emilyinrutshire · 16/10/2025 06:48

I always liked her but this documentary was so dull, I think it wanted to be a serious fashion documentary but she doesn’t have the chops to pull that off.

jumpingthehighjump · 16/10/2025 07:41

I wanted it to be about her, to see what sort of person she was like, and see family life and not just be all about fashion business. It just seemed like an advert for her clothes line
