I don’t like the singles following the doubles but had assumed its been done to avoid the embarrassingly empty courts for some doubles finals.

The crowd even seem to be flat, they didn’t get the final they hoped for and there doesn’t even seem to be much excitement for the winner.

Yes, Halep won in about 56 minutes against Serena. Who could barely move.

That seems really unfair for the whole of the womens game. It's been a brilliant contest right up until this match. One player literally just fell apart in front of our eyes but it doesn't mean the whole sport is screwed.

Maybe for people who only watch the Wimbledon final it looks bad but anyone who follows the tour knows it’s just a blip.

There are some really good players- but - just as with the men- there are some players who are clearly better than the rest of the pack- and on the big stage that extra they have, shows.

There wouldn't be a tournament without the other 126 players in the draw (plus all the rest!).

I agree. I couldn't watch past the end of the match. The late start was bad and having to listen to John McEnroe commentating didn't help.

I’m very happy for Iga anyway. She never thought she could play this well on grass and here she is with the trophy. I don’t think a bad performance from her opponent should blight her win.

I watch Wimbledon on iPlayer and sometimes put on the comedy generated subtitles. When Bartoli was talking about going to the life members’ afternoon tea with “Prinecss Kate” the subtitles translated it as afternoon tea with Kate Bush 😂

Jane no, Iga was really sad not to win the Olympic gold- I think it was felt it was a given, especially played at RG. The rest of her year did not go well.
She played her game, she is not responsible for her opponent.

Did anyone else feel a bit worried when they had that long discussion between Chris Evert, Martina Navratilova, Billie Jean King and Clare Balding in full sun on Centre Court? It seemed to go on for ever and I kept thinking Chris Evert in particular might be going to faint. I couldn’t concentrate on what they were saying in the end as I had second-hand anxiety!
