I was there for Pulp with alll my fifty something friends. We welled up quite afew times. I’ve seen them loads but today felt special.

Neil Young was amazing honestly. I was on the viewing platform and that band is tight. Amazing musicians. I knew about half the tracks but it didn’t matter. He’s brilliant for 79. I still think it’s wild he’s married to Daryl Hannah.

I've enjoyed the Neil Young set and his epic band. I think as well it would be a nice vibe at that stage. Glastonbury is struggling because it tries to be all things to everyone (whereas other festivals have become more niche and cater just to those audiences (metal, rock, alternative etc). It feels like in a few years the whole thing will be full of just dj sets and those who are auto tuned to within an inch of their lives and refuse to sing live. I've also noticed that very few non-UK bands are on this year, probably due to cost of production vs what they get paid. It's only worth playing if you're already on a UK tour. Anyway, I feel like with each passing year it will become less and less about the music I love. And I suddenly feel like my parents 😆

i like watching from home. No way could I be in that crowd, in that heat. I’d only want to see Pulp from that line up and Alanis from Friday. Watched Charli XCX and wasn’t impressed it used to be an Indy festival but it’s trying to do to much.

icantgetnosheep1 · 29/06/2025 07:23

Jumping on this thread, I’ve been dipping in and out of Glastonbury on iPlayer all weekend. Jarvis is most definitely the comeback king. I was a big fan back in the day and his recent new stuff is just as good, I cried happy tears when he came on 🥹 I was there 30 years ago when they took to the the stage and it’s brought back memories for sure!

VerbenaGirl · 29/06/2025 09:09

I’m loving it! Teen and I take turns choosing which stage to watch, then catch up on the rest in the morning. It’s great to dip into new artists and catch up on old favourites. So far I’ve really enjoyed Pulp (SO pleased it was them), CMAT, Jade, Shed Seven, Lewis Capaldi, Alanis Morrisett, Blossoms, En Vogue, Gary Numan, Lucy Dacus. Looking forward to Shaboozy, Olivia Rodrigo, Wolf Alice, Snow Patrol and Bootleg Beatles today.

Fibrous · 29/06/2025 09:16

Looking forward to Goat today, one of my favourite live bands. Hoping the sound engineering is good as they always sound incredible at their gigs.

will also watch st Vincent, Katy j Pearson and wolf alice. And future islands. Would’ve liked to see Geordie Greep but he’s on before the coverage starts. Going to see him in a couple of weeks anyway.

Pussert · 29/06/2025 09:46

Kneecap on I player now

Just caught up on Weezer. Brilliant!

BestIsWest · 29/06/2025 10:00

Ooh, where are the Bootleg Beatles on?

Just caught up on Scissor Sisters. Best act so far for me. Even better than Pulp.

Jellykat · 29/06/2025 10:14

Oh thanks for the heads up Fibrous and Pussert !
I didn't know Future islands were on, will deffo seek them out as I think the lead singer is extraordinary!
Will also check out kneecap, I need to see what all the fuss is about for myself.

Meanwhile I'm still gobsmacked at Charli xcx's non-performance 'performance' .. Im sure it's not age related, it's like some form of brainwashing by social media hype!
A real life case of The emperors clothes, before our very eyes!!! 🤔

Looking forward to seeing Joy Crookes today, saw her live when she was supporting Lizzo and her voice was amazing live. No autotune...

BabyBump1212 · 29/06/2025 10:53

Scissor sisters were great. Charli xcx was meh. Can't wait for Nile Rodgers and Fatboy slim later 😃👍

icantgetnosheep1 · 29/06/2025 10:58

I’ve been on BBC iPlayer this morning and my god it’s awful.! Tried to sit through Charlie XCX have to admit I’m struggling to see the appeal unless your a teenage /hormonal charged ☺️ it’s like a soft porn rave and I love a bit of rave but this is like a mix of DJ yoda and a pole dancing without the pole. Good on her, she has some energy..

NeedWineNow · 29/06/2025 11:03

We’re going to give Neil Young another try. Perhaps we need to have a couple of drinks and feel a bit more mellow to enjoy it!

Charlie XCX is the ‘music’ equivalent of the Emperors New Clothes IMO. How she won those BRIT awards amazes me.

Need to catch up on the full Scissor Sisters set as I was too tired to watch the whole thing. Looking forward to Rod and Olivia Rodrigo later.

BurntBroccoli · 29/06/2025 11:07

Jellykat · 28/06/2025 23:19

At last Scissor Sisters, thank god!

Ah I gave up and went to bed! Looking forward to the catch up later!

Jellykat · 29/06/2025 11:07

Agree Scissor Sisters were pure joy! (Although did wonder if Beth was ok after she disappeared into the crowd, she wasn't in the finale)

Looking forward to Celeste, Libertines, Snow patrol, Prodigy today.. will catch up on Olivia Rodrigo and others later and in-between...

In 2 minds about Rodders, his Reform endorsement has given me the ick.

I couldn’t find Neil Young on I player today ? Is it there ?
DS2 loves Charli XCX and been to see her , but I can’t see the appeal myself, although he thinks she is wonderful. He isn’t keen on pulp , so we just agree to disagree on some musical tastes !

redcord · 29/06/2025 11:21

I enjoyed the BBC commentator trying to big-up Cxcx set - 'do not underestimate the fact of how brilliant that performance was....'

If we need to be told, then er, it probs wasn't that brilliant.

DD said she was really good but the crowd had no atmosphere!

Edited

Bootleg Beatles are on 8pm to 9pm on the Acoustic stage.

Love them and never get tired of seeing them. Probably the best memory for me is them supporting Oasis at Loch Lomond.

Ah I gave up and went to bed! Looking forward to the catch up later!

Same here. Saw Don't feel like dancing on iPlayer, which is hard to navigate imo.

Jake Shears is a very handsome man and his outfit - oh my days 🥰. (Yes I know he's gay).

cashmerecardigans · 29/06/2025 12:10

Just watching scissor sisters. Fabulous but OMG those trousers!

Appalonia · 29/06/2025 12:34

Wow Celeste looks really different, I almost didn't recognise her!

Fibrous · 29/06/2025 12:35

Watching scissors sisters now while I do some yoga. Forgot they had so many belters. Jake Shears is aging very well I have to say! Heard him interviewed by Nick Grimshaw recently and he was lovely.

I’m skipping Rod. He’s a bellend and I don’t want to give him the airtime.

I was looking forward to Deftones - I was sad they cancelled.

Yeah I’m another one who doesn’t understand what Charli XCX is doing on the stage - how does she do all the voice manipulation? Or does someone do it for her? I don’t know how it works. She’s clearly got talent for songwriting and production even if it’s not really my thing, and she has said herself she’s not a great singer. I think she suits a more club style tent performance but she’s just too popular for that so they have to put her on a big stage. Fair enough, but it’s not exactly great telly.

sparrowflewdown · 29/06/2025 12:41

Thanks I was trying to find them on iplayer and waiting for the live show too with DD. What happened to them?

Orangesandlemons77 · 29/06/2025 12:53

I'm looking forward to Olivia Rodrigo lately I'm nearly 50 but got quite into her music recently and listening to it on Spotify!
