I had a neighbour like that - London property bought in the 80s which kept going up in price, so she kept extending the interest-free mortgage to live off (she did work, but part time minimum wage). Could never afford any upkeep of the house. Her mum died during Covid and Neighbour sold her London house, cleared the mortgage and moved back north to live in the old family home, god knows what she would have done otherwise - she was past retirement age herself so presumably eventually she’d have been repossessed. I expect there are plenty similar.

A friend of mine has a mum in similar circumstances, In her 70s and still has a mortgage and not working.
Painting over wallpaper looks a bit naff, but they managed to do it alright. I guess it’s time and money with this show, but they did steam off the paper in the Newport place.
Wasn’t keen on the window seat, but good for storage.
I like the two presenters and the properties are the same , all in a bit of time warp and so much clutter.
I wonder if any of them do end up selling quickly once it’s all done ?

Im surprised the estate agents don’t give them some advice , but maybe it would be seen as rude. Or they just think it’s a waste of time if they are moving anyway ? Although they all like it once it’s cleared.

Blonds, clearly not going by this show! I can’t understand why , but maybe they haven’t moved for so long their expectations are lower ? Or they can’t see why it needs doing ?
I sometimes think the people on it don’t actually want to move or just cba to do box it up or something like that ? Or maybe told to move it back in order to make the show ? Nothing surprises me with tv shows how they might operate!
It feels like it should be common sense , but it isn’t to them ? I’d love to throw a lot out , but it isn’t time and the inclination to do it and that is hard plus then you have heaps to get rid of or have to hire skips and it’s all faff.
