looks similar to house doctor if anyone remembers that with Ann Maurice

I used to love that

anyway this is a new programme taking over location x3 spot

brother and sister Scarlett and Stuart Douglas help home owners who are struggling to sell their homes

The transformation on the Barry house was amazing - it looked like a totally different house. Just goes to show what you can achieve with the right skill set and a bit of creativity. She was itching to bring stuff back in though so I doubt it stayed looking like that for long. Wonder if she has an offer yet (couldn’t help also wondering where she would live after her travels if all of the money from the house sale was spent).

Good job also on the elderly mums house. Hope that sells too.

BobLobla · 17/07/2025 12:23

Just watched ep3 and saw the trailer for next week. Absolutely agree about the vulnerability of some of the sellers. The script each week stating ‘And they have NO idea why the property hasn’t sold/had any viewings’ is BS. Even the most lax of agents will have made some sort of comment about clutter/mess/decor but I’m guessing clients took no notice. The promise of a TV show and £3K to do it up is the deciding factor here.

but it kind of unsettles me that researchers will have been trawling Rightmove looking for houses that not only aren’t selling but that are clearly a sign of some MH issues /desperation and vulnerability. The show next week with the lifelike baby dollies looks not only creepy as fuck but also exploitative.

i like the presenters and enjoyed Worst House on the Street . This show is just not sitting right though .

I agree with you.
Exploitative and vulnerable are words that came to my mind when watching some but not all of the homes and owners featured.
Their estate agents should have advised them as to why their homes weren’t selling. Basic stuff.

BobLobla · 17/07/2025 17:40

Yeah it holds no value as a genuine makeover show. We could do with real advice like wallpaper over shonky Victorian walls or here’s how to tart up skirting etc not trawling us through literal batshit houses of horror 🙄

Blondeshavemorefun · 17/07/2025 21:27

I would like to see these houses sell or say at the end and sold for x k

I would never have normally watched this, but the comments on this thread inspired us to watch the first two episodes last night.

Open mouthed at a. the hideousness of the houses and b.the fact that the vendors can claim (with straight faces) that they have absolutely no clue why nobody even wants to book a viewing.

Surely they must know that most people don't live like this.

I could almost smell the dogs through the screen.

Blondeshavemorefun · 21/07/2025 13:26

Some dog owners just don’t smell their house. I have several friends with dogs

one her house smells awful - smelly dog

not sure if it’s the carpet sofa or what but as you enter their house you get a waft

go only the living room and omfg. It’s awful

get other dog friends house never smell

God, these are awful photos, they need a new estate agent. Hate a lot of the decorating this programme does anyway (dreadful colours, usually all over ceiling as well as walls), but at least the rooms they did look fresher - the rest of the house looks very unloved.

I watch this programme, because there's nothing much else on at the time and I like a property programme, but it is truly dreadful. I think there's only been one house that actually looked half decent when they finished, although obviously to a degree they look 'better'.

Pointless bunch of property enthusiasts too, who seem to know nowt about nowt.

DaisyYellowGold · 22/07/2025 14:37

Just watched the first two episodes, I liked what they did with 3 of the houses, what were they thinking with the £1.3 million one though? Entering a house like that you would expect to find something like this rustic country hallway. They could have left it white, painted stairs and bannisters and fitted a beautiful stair runner, that would have done it.

E4 Kent my area

2 characterless houses one which is bare and uninviting and the second one bursting at the seams

KassandraOfSparta · 23/07/2025 20:04

80 odd of those creepy lifelike babies. Even her daughter says "it's too cluttered".

Blondeshavemorefun · 23/07/2025 20:14

Def a lot of babies

Both houses are awful - but the one with the dolls is more easily fixed, it just needs a clear out. The other house has serious layout issues with the bathroom being accessed through a bedroom, and things like awful fitted wardrobes and platforms with a bed on.

Blondeshavemorefun · 23/07/2025 20:22

Tbh I didn’t think Empty was that bad

OP posts:
KassandraOfSparta · 23/07/2025 20:23

Spiral staircase too, and the awful Juliet balconies - it is a more expensive fix. The other house is a skip, paint and wallpaper.

KassandraOfSparta · 23/07/2025 20:26

Covering up that gorgeous original fireplace and tiles with that Liberace monstrosity is a crime.

Blondeshavemorefun · 23/07/2025 20:29

I admit I wouldn’t want a spiral staircase

Absolutely! Loving the ones they've uncovered !

Turmerictolly · 23/07/2025 20:31

Both houses have good bones and the bonus of a seaside location. Really they need to be gutted and suprised the polystyrene ceiling isn’t coming down. I guess there’s only so much they can do with the time and budget.
Those dolls were so spooky!

ThePoshUns · 23/07/2025 20:32

Blondeshavemorefun · 23/07/2025 20:29

I admit I wouldn’t want a spiral staircase

Me neither ugly and I would definitely fall down them

Wilma55 · 23/07/2025 20:36

Ann Maurice could never understand why Brits had carpets in the bathroom. I had one myself when her series was on!

The probate one has great bones, most things are easy fixes. It’s got a good location and it’s big. I’d replace the circular staircase with a conventional one as well (not in the budget / timescale of this makeover).
