New series starting next week - really looking forward to it. The teams are travelling in Asia, but I can't find information about the couples yet. Wednesday nights sorted!

Oh yes, and people didn't offer lifts to one father and daughter, and another father and daughter dropped out I recall.

I also enjoyed this episode far more than previous ones. It was nice to see the difference between the cities and the more rural areas. I loved seeing the brothers with the camel herders and Sion and Finn with the horses.
I still can't warm to Caroline although Tom is growing on me. She said that she wasn't going to make decisions but it's a team effort.
Something didn't add up with the sisters' home story. Aren't they meant to be 26 and 33, yet I'm sure they said that when it happened they were 14 and 18. I wondered why the older one went to Italy, unless they had family or friends there.

My choice would be -
1 Brothers
2 Teenagers
3 Sisters
$ Tom and mum

Agreed. Caroline makes my teeth itch.
Totally bored of the sister's back story.
Brothers or the Welsh couple for me!

Iguazu? Best place I've ever visited

Snap. Nothing will ever come close. One day I hope to go back.

purpleme12 · 29/05/2025 22:44

Bored of the sisters too and their 'issues'

RaraRachael · 29/05/2025 23:09

In the Canadian one there was a father and daughter who ran out of money because he kept taking taxis everywhere.

MrsLargeEmbodied · 30/05/2025 05:15

it was awkward, t he sisters discussion, as i imagine it would be on the TV. Just get to the point, i was upset that you weren't there, but there was no room for me because i was already 18. issue over!
i wonder how their parents feel about the exposure

finfitrulesok · 30/05/2025 07:18

I am rewatching series 1 at the moment, and have seen series 2 many times. There have always been lots of backstories.

853ax · 30/05/2025 09:00

Guess it's planned to have leg like this to let them all catch up last few episodes get more dramatic anyone can do it so what if something goes wrong.
Cash left will come into it more too from last night episodes seems easy to arrange transportation in India so if enough left last day could get driver

TheyNotLikeUs · 30/05/2025 22:16

Great episode, getting to know the travels and the travellers.

Not sure why they aren't saying "please" when talking to ticket office staff etc.

I don't like how the back story for each of the competitors has become more important than the amazing places they're seeing, the people they're meeting and their experiences. I feel like we spend so much time discussing their individual trauma that we aren't getting enough travel stories and seeing enough of the people they are meeting. And also it could do with injecting a bit of humour occasionally I think. It's just all crying and trauma. I feel a bit fed up of it tbh. I think the balance is all wrong now.

I agree, I have loved this show since the start but this week, for the first time, I found myself nodding off half way through. It's not just that they're sharing their back stories, it's that the same information is being shared every single week. It's tiresome. They are seeing such amazing places and there is so much more that could be shown (eg Amritsar as other posters have mentioned), it's not doing justice to the journey at the moment. Having said that I like all of the contestants this time around, especially Fin and Sioned, and Tom, who I think is actually very admirable in his attitude.

A pp made a good point about how do they find these tiny bus station booking offices in big cities. With no maps it seems an impossible task. They can ask people but there must be loads of these offices. How do they find the right one? Also how do they find the off the beaten track farms?

I’m not sure about the bus stations but they have a booklet with the work options / off the beaten track home stays in it to help them. You can sometimes see them holding it.

And how do they get to them?
There won't be many buses to get to their out of town remote "work" places, so do they pay to get a taxi to these places - or is it not part of the budget, just so the producers can get some good TV in?

Or else the economics of the work won't really work out too much.

Thequeenofwishfulthinking · 31/05/2025 10:48

The younger sister is a madam. She appears to be entitled and determined to blame her sister for the way she felt and dealt with "the loss of the family home.'
Id be interested to know her feelings towards her parents who would have been responsible for paying the rent/mortgage.
I understand losing the family home would be upsetting but she clearly doesnt want to let go. What happened afterwards in terms of Letitias' feelings was not Elizabeth's fault. I hope Elizabeth makes this point when Letitia brings the issue up next time (and she most definitely will!)
Most people are resilient enough to move past things of this nature. Its been over a decade.
I don't want the sisters to win.
My favourites are the brothers.
Like others I'm warning to 'Thomas.'

scissy · 31/05/2025 10:49

@cakeorwine previous contestants have gone over this. They've had to borrow phones of strangers to "leave a message/ speak to the work" to arrange it. In previous series at least 1 team has missed their work opportunity for 1 reason or another. They also have to get there. We only see 1 hour of a 3 day leg so presumably they get a car to the more out of the way places.

TheyNotLikeUs · 31/05/2025 10:53

I'm warming to Elizabeth. It can't have been easy starting alone abroad aged 18.

RaraRachael · 31/05/2025 10:56

I definitely prefer Elizabeth to Letitia. It's not her fault she felt her only choice was to move abroad.
Fair enough to give us a wee backstory of each couple but we don't need it being repeated every single episode.

TheyNotLikeUs · 31/05/2025 11:19

Oh no, I'm Team L.

Me too . I’m not actually sure what Elizabeth has done to ‘ slight ‘ her sister . She was an adult living her life whilst her sister was a child at home . Normal surely .

I guess Letitia felt abandoned in her teen brain. It’s understandable.

No of course not. I just find it interesting that neither spoke about it and cleared the air sooner. Letitia held onto her hurt and I guess Elizabeth was unaware.

I agree, I don't think that Elizabeth had ever considered resentment towards her, and quite reasonably so.
