New series starting next week - really looking forward to it. The teams are travelling in Asia, but I can't find information about the couples yet. Wednesday nights sorted!

The mum keeps saying she doesn’t do anything for herself; did she only start the horse racing/ competitions after they got back?

She's been doing it for about 25 years at least.

She said early on that her husband didn't want her to work after they got married, so perhaps eventing was something she was allowed to do.

She does seem to have been limited in what she was able to do, and probably does feel life has passed her by, but to not mention the horses and competing, and to lay on thick the housewife aspect, she's not being honest in the programme.

I do wonder what her husband thinks of her doing this, and also that her and Tom are doing more travelling together.

Edited

I did wonder if they had separated or divorced, or she just had enough and applied

In an interview she says they told everyone they were going to visit an uncle in Australia for six weeks....and I have had a bit of a giggle imagining that's what they also told husband/dad!

If her and Tom are doing more travelling who is going to do the housekeeping and cooking I wonder. And who did it whilst they were away if Caroline did it beforehand?

I wonder what her husband thinks about all this considering he has wanted her looking after the home and jobless for 25 odd years.

Bruisername · 26/05/2025 15:31

I wonder what the husband thinks about her giving the impression he chained her to the kitchen sink!

maybe they agreed because of the cerebral palsy and then he invested in the horses because he could see she was struggling!!

What's with the obsession of showing the picking up animal poo by hand, gloved or otherwise, lol.

The brothers background is desperately sad

Really is

purpleme12 · 27/05/2025 19:58

The Taj Mahal looks like a cake 😂

RaraRachael · 27/05/2025 20:00

I think the brothers are my favourites because I am a similar age and their story (awful mother) really resonates with me.

Letitia and her lack of warmth and connection with her sister is starting to grate on me. Elizabeth keeps trying to engage but is met with a blank wall in return. It's getting a bit tiring.

I just don't get the big deal with them

Summergarden · 27/05/2025 21:05

I’m a bit shocked to discover about Caroline’s long career (that feels the correct word for it, but perhaps not) in horse eventing. She seems very well known in the horse eventing world and has won a major event in the last couple of years. It seems very disingenuous the way she presents herself as someone who has had minimal life experience and adventure since becoming a mother 21 years ago, when the horse eventing is clearly a huge part of her life and something which has earned her significant recognition and accomplishment. Good for her, but I can’t believe how it’s been totally concealed.

I love the brothers and how they are reconnecting on the trip due to spending so much time together. Despite being very different characters they clearly have so much respect for each other.

purpleme12 · 27/05/2025 22:10

While I can agree with some points people have made (feel like we've tended to see less of the accommodation, money thinking and food issues for example and yes I want to see all couples come to a checkpoint at the end of an episode)
I don't watch the programme and feel annoyed by the back stories
(But then I remember from previous series threads I've said this and other people have said the opposite 😂)

But I feel annoyed by the sisters personally
I can't really see if there's even a problem between them or what this actual problem is and I don't get it!

Series 1 had some backstory but it didn't seem like a necessity for getting on the show, just a fact about the people. So lovely Natalie and Shameema, Natalie has sickle cell and Shameema had supported her through treatment but it was about how that had made them such good friends, in contrast with Darren and son who were trying to connect. It sort of added to the journey rather than the journey being about resolving anything.

I just think the two lads in the first series, Josh and Alex?, would NEVER get on now and they did some interesting stuff to show off the countries etc which was why I watched it!!

Totally agree.

Moanranger · 28/05/2025 06:27

Regarding the tedious & repetitive emphasis on the backstories: I wonder if this is done to sell into the US market? I have noticed this in watching some US based programmes recently - same psychodramas endlessly repeated.
Just a thought…

Yes. I’m a SAHM and have been 🙄 hearing her go on since finding out about it because she does far more for herself than I do! I have hobbies, but hers is another level!

Gundogday · 28/05/2025 12:28

Haven’t read all the comments, as only just caught up with the last two episodes. However, despite Caroline’s ‘I’m just a mere housewife’ rants, I do think she has grown a lot during the race, perhaps more than anyone else. She seemed so much more confident and ( to quite her) ‘alive’ compared to the beginning and she’s grown on me.

However, my favourite are still The Brothers. Loving how they are having so much fun, supporting and respecting one another, facing past demons and hardships, and forming a strong bond.

SabrinaThwaite · 28/05/2025 21:05

Finn and Sioned are 33 hrs behind now.

ChompandaGrazia · 28/05/2025 21:13

Hang on. How did the brothers get there? Did I miss something?

LuckysDadsHat · 28/05/2025 21:14

Poor man with having the shits! I have just got over really bad food poisoning so I feel for him so much.

ChompandaGrazia · 28/05/2025 21:14

Oh my word, he looks so poorly.

Halsall · 28/05/2025 21:14

He doesn’t look well at all…..

jay55 · 28/05/2025 21:16

So brave getting on a bus while feeling rough. I wouldn’t dare.

Fourteenandahalf · 28/05/2025 21:18

He looks grey.

TwentyKittens · 28/05/2025 21:23

Brian's looking better even if he isn't feeling 100%. He looked bloody awful last night!

SabrinaThwaite · 28/05/2025 21:23

Caroline saying how much she’s enjoying being with Tom now - I wonder if he was one of those difficult teenagers that can be quite unloveable at times.

BigNessaEnergy · 28/05/2025 21:42

Far too much Caroline and Tom tonight. Makes me think they're going to continue to lead.

We need much more of the others.
