New series starting next week - really looking forward to it. The teams are travelling in Asia, but I can't find information about the couples yet. Wednesday nights sorted!

I deffo think that they haven’t got the same parents. Clearly are from a wealthy background but I doubt it’s been a straightforward upbringing. For some reason I feel like Tom has been at boarding school.

My sister and I are not at all alike. Different hair colour, she tans easily and I am a pale skinned red head. Same parents.

Tom (or his mother) said he had been at boarding school.

I only started watching RATW last year with the Celebrity one.
This is my 1st "civilian " one .
But I am hooked !!!!

I have started watching Series 1 now !
Does anyone know if there was a thread about it at the time ?

I don't agree with this I am loving the journey through China. It's such a big country the different areas are very different and it is much more beautiful than I imagined .

Still really enjoying the scenery and getting to know the couples.

Noticing there don't seem to be any food issues! I'm sure there were lots of times in previous series that people were hungry!

This series is wonderful and still enjoying it. Not wanting anyone to leave next week 😔

I feel they haven't spent enough time in China, the 3rd largest country on earth! You could do a whole fascinating series there.

I don't know why people are making such a thing of the sisters not looking alike. As I said upthread I look nothing like my sister but if you saw me with my cousin, you'd think we were sisters.

I felt quite sorry for Tom's mum. Even if she was a SAHM and he was off at boarding school she could have done something with her life.

My brothers are full brothers and have no resemblance to each other at all .

No one is making "such a thing" about anything. Just observing and commenting.

I was quite surprised to see a middle class woman, still a SAHM to one university aged child. I thought that was quite unusual these days within that demographic.

Nor do the brothers ! We are watching in catch up now and absolutely zero resemblance/common traits

The young couple are quite funny. Getting in a pickle over the budgeting "we don't even have to pay our own bills at home !" 😁 (or words to that effect.

I thought the development of China was breath-taking. Made my part of England look very backwards. I agree with an earlier post that it almost felt like propaganda - easy to forget concentration camps full of Uygur people.

I agree we are seeing the PR lens of China not the slog reality of shein clothes factories & poverty or camps of forced labour which also form a part of life in China? But amazing scenery

Having looked up the ‘tourist village’, it definitely appears that the whole place is a planned attraction and that the original inhabitants were moved out to an adjacent - no doubt rather less attractive - area, so that the picturesque spot could be redeveloped as a destination, complete with the very instagrammable drying chilis in baskets. I wonder how many of the original inhabitants have returned to work there.

I’m not bored at all by seeing the contestants still in China - it’s such a huge country and the interactions with the people they meet are fascinating.

It definitely feels that China only gave permission for filming so long as they only showed/ filmed the nice pretty bits of the country.

Oh yes. I’m getting that feeling too. Am I remembering rightly that in one of the past series they were mean to go through China but the government pulled the permission at the last minute?
