Welcome to the EastEnders spoilers thread, where we post and talk about any EE spoilers we've read about, including those in early release episodes on iPlayer.

Link below to watch episodes on BBC iPlayer - these are usually dropped at 6am on broadcast days - and you can read brief synopses of upcoming episodes:

Steve M really is a fantastic actor isn’t he?

He really is!

Shellingbynight · 20/03/2025 21:16

Steve M is brilliant. And I thought Keith Allen was fantastic too. Imagine if he'd been cast as Teddy - he would have given him charm, presence and menace.

I loved the episode, very well done and the messaging wasn't too full on.

I liked the heartwarming ending with Phil and Nigel, but it was a reprise of Stacey and Martin in the live episode - promises about a fantasy future. There is no way Phil is going to be changing Nigel's incontinence pads. Sorry but that is the reality of dementia and that did sour it a bit for me.

storminabuttercup · 20/03/2025 21:26

good point about the caring side @Shellingbynightbut a lot was made in that episode about Phil being minted, as much as I think EE will cock up a dementia storyline so not sure I want to see it, but if Nigel stays maybe Phil would pay for full time care ? He can easily afford it but would also be there for him as a friend? The episode has left me a soppy sentimental mare

RedToothBrush · 20/03/2025 21:34

I want Gaz to show up on the square and cause chaos by humping Sharon after he pretends he's a long lost Mitchell.

RedToothBrush · 20/03/2025 21:38

I love Dr Nigel Hope.

He's a character that's been sorely missed on our TV screens.

I hope he stays around for a while and I hope Phil does defy expectations by caring until he gets to the point he no longer can. And they make the decision to go into a home together.

At that point he can be shipped off to where Jim Branning lived, with Phil doing regular visits like Dot and Sonia did. Never to be seen again.

More likely Nigel's wife will show up at some point to whisk him off to EastEnders heaven of 'dead' characters.

Shellingbynight · 20/03/2025 21:42

@storminabuttercup that would make sense except I can't remember anyone in the Square ever having carers, it's all faaamerly innit. I think Nigel will be shipped off home before anything too inconvenient happens, but they can help each other in the short term.

One of the good things about that episode though was the fact they acknowledged it was all a bubble away from real life, that was part of it's magic. Lovely as it was to hear Phil talk about Sharon, of course it is all going to go pearshaped when Phil finds out about Grant...

the80sweregreat · 20/03/2025 21:59

Agree that Keith Allen as Teddy would have been pretty awesome. I’m sure he wouldn’t have fallen for Nicola’s dubious charms and would have taken the character in a different direction.
I’d like Gaz to make an appearance in the New Vic for a pint one day !

the80sweregreat · 20/03/2025 22:01

Lola had carers I think ( at the end anyway ) but they usually don’t have anyone it’s true. It’s always family or friends.

the80sweregreat · 20/03/2025 22:06

I like to think that Phil will pay for some carers for Nigel! He can afford it from the never ending safe of money or Nigel will go back to Julie before his dementia gets too bad. They rarely show the real horror of diseases. With Sylvia she ended up electrocuting herself before she became really bad.

storminabuttercup · 21/03/2025 06:47

I think Keith Allen is way to old to play jumpers, he’s meant to be early 40’s

i did pick up on jumpers saying this week how walford was a new start he mentioned ‘new image’ so guessing pastels aren’t his usual look and I do now recall Nicola making a comment about his style previously

but yeah I still hope Phil gets in some care for Nigel

Ive also got a feeling Linda will end up moving in with them which I hope isn’t too much for her but at least Phil has the room for her and the little ones

Shellingbynight · 21/03/2025 08:24

If they wanted Keith Allen they could have changed his storylining/age, but he wouldn't have done it anyway. But really my point was what a great character Teddy could have been. And isn't. He's just a collection of jumpers with a temper.

Linda moving in with Phil could be great, but not if she ends up as a carer for Nigel. Although I doubt Nigel will be around much longer.

But Phil wants to get back with Shaz so his hope would be for Shaz and Albie to live there.

Bunionbabe · 21/03/2025 09:22

They really should contact Nigel's wife. Imagine what she's going through. Though she doesn't appear to have put out feelers to his known contacts or reported him to the police as missing?

Eastie77Returns · 21/03/2025 11:30

I’d completely forgotten about Nigel’s wife. I’d hope he would sent her some kind of message by now, even just a brief text saying I’m fine but don’t want to be contacted. Otherwise surely she would have been in touch with the police by now. He’s been ‘missing’ for months!

Spandaupants · 21/03/2025 13:05

I like Teddy’s character and think his look fits it well.
i wonder what’s happened with Nigel’s wife too?

Shellingbynight · 21/03/2025 13:20

Nigel had already been away from Julie a while as he had been living as a homeless person, she calls and texts and he ignores it. But she may not regard Nigel as 'missing', she may think (or he may have told her) he was leaving her.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 21/03/2025 14:38

Eurgh Lexi is back
"I'm not leaving until I've seen my grandad" and they all simper round her .
Billy who would give anyone else a earful
Callum who must twig that she's a nightmare in the making and in years to come he'll be checking her into a cell .
She needs Kathy to come along and tell her to Mind your manners young lady

Ben was the worst , a totally wimp parent , not wanting to upset his ickle pwincess and thinking it was cute when she was a brat . (Clue Ben. It isn't )

Bunionbabe · 21/03/2025 19:03

Lexi's stage school cockney grammar annoys me 'I ain't goin' nowhere'. Yes, she is a nightmare in the making. Then so is Lily, turning into a gobby harridan like her mum.

SoonToBeEmptyNest · 21/03/2025 19:29

Really good episode. Absolutely rooting for Phil. Lexie is an annoying wee shitebag though. Not looking forward to the inevitable troubled teen years.

Eastie77Returns · 21/03/2025 19:47

She's been completly spoilt and mollycoddled by 3 doting dads and her great-grandad so not surprising she's such a brat.

I can see Linda moving in with Phil and Nigel but it might be a bit much for them with the kids. I suppose they are always in the kiddie cupboard anyway so maybe it won't be a problem.

Speaking of, who is looking after Charli when Lily and Ricky are at school. She is never seen with Jean who is supposed to have a daytime job cleaning anyway. There is no mention of her being dropped at nursery or even the invisible childminder. Would Lily get free childcare for her?

storminabuttercup · 21/03/2025 20:55

Anyone watching the mini episode on comic relief
Steve M being as brilliant as always

the80sweregreat · 21/03/2025 21:18

Poor Charli is completely forgotten about :(

Charli who ....?

I can’t stand lexi all mopey , pale and haunty like a Victorian ghost , she really is stage schooly.
I also couldn’t stand her mum , her horrible leggings coords , they are both generic and two a penny characters in my small town

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 22/03/2025 00:59

mopey , pale and haunty

Grin
the80sweregreat · 22/03/2025 09:21
