My parents are staying for a few weeks and trying to find us something to watch of an evening is proving difficult.
We all like crime/thriller dramas but it seems we’ve watched different ones so everything I suggest they’ve already watched and vice versa.
My dad doesn’t like anything too emotions based eg we tried Apple Cider Vinegar and that didn’t work.
if it’s on bbc or itv they’ve probably watched it.
They also don’t like anything with loads of swearing or sex - occasional plot driven is fine.
also needs to not be a slow burn and capture them quite quickly.
Also doesn’t help that it usually takes them 10-15 mins to realise they watched something!

Red Eye (maybe ITV or Channel 5)
Nightsleeper (BBC)

Both thrillers, British, first set in a flight, second set in the sleeper train.

We really enjoyed them both.

Do you have Netflix, AppleTV, prime etc? I can give you recommendations if you do.

FuckoffeeBeforeCoffee · 09/03/2025 14:32

It's old (from 2010) but I've just started Accused on Prime and I'm hooked. Each episode is a different story.

FuckoffeeBeforeCoffee · 09/03/2025 14:34

Also, if you've got Apple TV, try Hijack.

bestbefore · 09/03/2025 15:00

I think The Equaliser on Sky witness is an easy watch. With Queen latifa kicking ass!

Charcadet · 09/03/2025 15:01

Cleaning lady on sky is a leave your brain at the door watch

Artyblartfast · 09/03/2025 15:03

Itvx The Twelve. Stars Sam Neale. Two series. V good.

Artyblartfast · 09/03/2025 15:04

Or rewatch the classic Miss Marples from BBC. They're so good. Doesn't matter if you've seen them.

They're on itvx too I think.

It's worth subscribed for a bit to get rid of adverts. It's cheap.

CatsWhiskerz · 09/03/2025 15:09

Fear is good, Prime
Harlan Coben has another limited series on Netflix which is newly added

mum2jakie · 09/03/2025 15:09

You're normally safe with an Agatha Christie but be careful with the current BBC series - Towards Zero - it features someone giving his ex-wife oral sex halfway down a staircase! Wouldn't fancy watching that scene with my parents!

We (DD DH and I) binged watched this a few months back , I couldn't believe I'd missed this series , they are all good .
The episode with Sean Bean got the best reviews ( subject is about a transvestite so depends on your viewing taste .)

verityveritas · 09/03/2025 16:19

If you have Netflix 'fool me once' and 'the stranger' both good, 'inside man' (previously on bbc) is brilliant.

Nellienooiloveyou · 09/03/2025 16:28

What about Prime suspect or cracker? Both stand the test of time and they are unlikely to have seen lately

cracker is a bit bloody sometimes

they are so so good..might watch one now

RedRiverShore5 · 09/03/2025 16:43

High Potential on Disney is an easy watch crime drama, different story each episode where they solve a murder, it's not gritty, haven't noticed swearing and sex in it.

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 09/03/2025 17:01

High Potential and Will Trent, both on Disney, both fab.

The Mentalist if you haven’t already seen it - just the best TV series ever.

Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries is great fun.

Castle is also entertaining.

Whoarethoseguys · 09/03/2025 17:08

I have just discovered the new Bergerac on the Drama station you can get it on U free. I really enjoyed it and the views too.
I also like Unforgotten on ITV but they have probably seen that.
And of course there is Missioner Murders there are so many of them so even if they have seen them it's easy to forget.

notatinydancer · 09/03/2025 17:14

Have you all watched Luther ?
Queens Gambit ? Not crime but very good.

Stuckinarut79 · 09/03/2025 17:14

Thank you. Yep all of them, I think paramount and other prime add ins are the only ones I don’t.

They’ve watched all of Luther - weirdly I was the one that couldn’t the last series as it was a bit too violent for me and I’m usually unfazed.

Will Trent might be the one, it’s been on my list as I loved the books and hopefully obscure enough they’ve missed it. Thank you

I’m putting cracker on my list I never finished them, even that long ago they aren’t keen to rewatch or if they do they’ll drive me nuts trying to remember who did it and sharing their ideas

I was going to suggest this - haven't seen it though 😱.
