Okay, so I know I am massively late to the party. But I just discovered this show and wow, what a show it is. I am currently bingeing my way through and am totally hooked!!! I am only on series 2 so far but almost at the end and have already downloaded all of series 3 ready!! I don't think I have loved a show like this for such a long time.

I am finding myself getting emotional most episodes. It gets me right in the feels and it has made me think of my parents, my own childhood, my own siblings, my kids and their childhoods and really reflect on my own life. I have never known a show do this to me before. So relatable in so many ways.

I just hope it stays as good and doesn't become a bit crap somewhere along the line. Please tell me it stays this awesome right to the end??

PS - also love "This is Interminable". My DH would agree

If anyone wants another extended family one, I can thoroughly recommend Offspring on Prime. It’s Australian and I’m re-watching it all at the moment. Just as good second time round. Also re-watched the whole of TIU.
Oh and Maid on Netflix (I think) is really good!

Edited

I adored Offspring (loving the username!) when I watched it years ago on Netflix. Have wanted to rewatch but couldn’t find it so will look out for it on Prime. Is it free to watch or need a subscription?

It’s free with Prime. Watching it right now 😊

Amazing, thanks! Been watching Neighbours on Prime so will find this now too!

I really wasn't a fan of William at all but can see I'm in the minority on this thread (& was on the main thread way back when too!)

Me either. Love the whole thing and have seen it all 3 times but I found Randall a bit annoying tbh and his dad even more so. But love Jack, Kate, Kevin, Toby, Dr K, the whole Vietnam storyline, it’s just splendid. Enjoy every moment OP!

JoyousEagle · 29/03/2025 06:29

I loved it, but did find all the Pearson children a little self involved, and thought Beth (whose father also died when she was a teen) was a bloody saint. I mean, hopefully she didn’t have any of her own family thanksgiving traditions, because they’d have been out the window to make room for Jack’s perfect thanksgiving.

DarcyProudman · 29/03/2025 06:41

I was really disappointed when they made Kate and Toby split up. Toby was so lovely and I thought he was better with her than the English man.

MrsLargeEmbodied · 29/03/2025 07:35

also watching
up to series 5

some better than others but on the whole i find it addictive.

I was disappointed at the end of Season 5 to see shots of Kate at her wedding in the future so I got a feeling that they did and it did seem their relationship was becoming forced.

I think, as their relationship changed as they became parents, they both changed as people and the two people they became were less compatible and it was starting to show.

Kate especially changed and evolved so much as a person when she had Jack and became less needy and reliant on Toby to make her feel like a good and a worthwhile person.

I'm not sure of the person she is marrying because he has only been in a few episodes so far and is actually a bit annoying.

But oh my god, I LOVE Miguel!!!!!!!! He has just become one of my favourites as more and more time has passed. Team Migs ❤

Yeah, this is what I was talking about. Her second marriage felt a bit forced and a bit of an afterthought. Kate and Toby were so well matched. I think the storyline would have been better if they'd ridden out their rough patch.

Literallynoonecares · 29/03/2025 08:48

I love all of them to be honest. Jack and Rebecca are so gorgeous 😍

Early series Kate and Kevin were a bit annoying but got better as the series went along. I loved Kate and Toby together. Madison was annoying but likeable from the start but glad she didn't end up marrying Kevin. My guess is he is somehow going to end up back where it started - with Sophie. They are going to have a 'Rachel and Ross' moment 'Its always been you' kind of thing.

I loved William, both old and young. Great lovely sweet guy.

Every stage Randall is fabulous!! I love him. Beth is an amazing woman. Everyone should 'be more Beth'

Deja is beautiful ❤Toby is (for the most part) funny and lovely.

Nicky was annoying to start with and I wondered why the hell they had introduced him but now I like him, he has grown on me.

And I adore Miguel. I have come to really love him. What a guy ❤

Me too, I'll depart now as I'm only up to S2 and just seen a couple of spoilers... my own fault for reading a thread on a show that's so old 😂

I'll come and read everyone's thoughts once I'm done! ☺️

shellyleppard · 29/03/2025 11:14

@Namechange6578 @MrsLargeEmbodied you will not be disappointed.... I've binged the whole series and wow it's fantastic!!!! Full of twists and turns, had me in floods of tears more than once. Enjoy 😍

Absolutely not allowed! He's the love of my life Grin

I absolutely loved This is Us. Every episode made me cry.

Another good series that made me cry as much is A Million Little Things. I'm not sure where it is available to stream. But, if no one has seen it I recommend!!

KaToby · 29/03/2025 21:39

The only thing I don’t like about This is us is that I’ll never watch anything as good again! I’ve watched it 3 times and listen to the podcast in the shower!
I adore Jack, and have loved Milo since Gilmore Girls.

Eastie77Returns · 31/03/2025 04:43

I thought Kate was awful to Toby. When they first met in the weight loss class she said she couldn’t be with someone who was not committed to reaching a healthy weight. But she then became sullen, jealous and resentful when he started going to the gym and taking his health seriously after his heart attack. I also didn’t understand why they had another child (the girl they adopted) who was literally never mentioned again after she was born. I was still upset when they got divorced though😂

As for Kate marrying the charisma free English guy with whom she had no chemistry whatsoever…wtf. I’m not sure if they deliberately cast someone incredibly dull in order to show a contrast with Toby, but that relationship was a complete farce.

Completely agree @JoyousEagle all very one-sided for the Pearson partners. I was glad to see that at one point we're shown a WhatsApp group of Beth, Toby and whoever Kevin is with then. I bet they needed some days 😆

CrushingOnRubies · 31/03/2025 22:44

This is us was one of those shows where I wish mumsnet existed in tv world. Can you imagine some the spouses of the Pearson kids on AIBU when it comes to thanksgiving woes

Literallynoonecares · 03/04/2025 19:19

Well I have made it to the end (almost) I have just 2 episodes left to watch 😭😭I just can't believe that it got better, and better, and better.

And now I am left literally not wanting it to end. 😢I think I will need a bumper box of tissues for this!!! (and maybe a bumper glass of wine!!)

Yes, A Million Little Things was really good, lots of episodes too, it's on U which is a free channel
