Welcome to the EastEnders spoilers thread, where we post and talk about any EE spoilers we've read about, including those in early release episodes on iPlayer.

Link below to watch episodes on BBC iPlayer - these are usually dropped at 6am on broadcast days - and you can read brief synopses of upcoming episodes:

Reiss will almost certainly die and I think he'll be the only death.

I know there has been speculation Martin will die because of his focus on the old days, but the whole anniversary is looking back at the history, previous characters etc.

I hope Ruby doesn't die as then Martin will have yet another child to ignore cope with. They are divorced so Martin wouldn't get anything. I do think she's still rich though!

I can't remember what I was doing when EE started. I know where I was living in 1985 but can't remember specifics. I did watch from the first episode though!

thisoldcity · 14/02/2025 16:45

I remember watching the first episode and it had me hooked from the start. I was living in a rented house with my soon to be ex husband at the time, I remember it quite clearly.

the80sweregreat · 14/02/2025 17:30

I was nearly 20 and working full time, no kids or any worries.
EE was on two nights a week and only went over to more nights in 01 ( which surprised me as I thought it was before this!)
My parents would tape it for me on VHS, but there was an omnibus edition on weekends to catch up if I was out those nights.
Monday and Thursday nights were the ones to stay in for in 85.

gingercat02 · 14/02/2025 18:17

I'm the same age as Ian, Sharon, Michelle, etc, I was a mid teen at school.
I have watched almost every episode, used to video it if I was out or on holiday, or catch up on the Sunday omnibus. That was a great hangover thing to do when we were older.
It's still on my sky planner. For all the crap, I still wouldn't miss it, although sometimes I only half watch while doing other things

Shellingbynight · 14/02/2025 18:22

I was trying to remember which nights it was on - I thought Tues and Thurs?

I am 3 years older than Phil and he was 24 in 1985 so I would have been 27.

I’ve grown up with them too, I was in my O Level year in 1985.

the80sweregreat · 14/02/2025 18:32

It was on Monday and Thursday's originally

the80sweregreat · 14/02/2025 18:35

I may have that wrong ! Duh 🙄

The 19th feb 1985 was a Tuesday ! So Tuesday and Thursdays.

Southeastdweller · 14/02/2025 18:49

Just caught up after being out of the country for a few days. I have to say I feel a bit insulted about the Bianca resolution, but like 80's said, it may because of Patsy's schedule and commitments in L.A. I agree about Jaime Winstone not being that great but she was terrific in her last scene and that scene also worked because she spoke the truth about Phil not treating people like dirt and never taking responsibility for his actions. Jay seemed insouciant when Phil was being at his most vulnerable - that didn't ring true at all. I thought the actor who played young Grant was even sexier than the Ross Kemp version circa 1990s! It's good he and Daniel Delaney (Phil) were cast so well.

Has to be Reiss who dies next week. We know the actor had his leaving party a month ago and no trial means that Sonia can just disappear (we also know Natalie Cassidy is leaving).

That is my thought about Reiss too. I can't see any way he won't die.

I've heard though that more than one person dies. Of course that could be misleading and the second person could be something of no account. Like Mo😆

Thanks 80s - I think it was Tues and Thurs because they didn't want to clash with Corrie which was on the other days.

LuxuryWoman2020 · 14/02/2025 19:51

If Reiss does die I really hope we get more background on his relationship with Debbie.

Maybe he'll go into a complete rage and it'll all come out that he caused her stroke or something.

It would be good to have that story all wrapped up.

the80sweregreat · 14/02/2025 20:45

I do hope that whoever dies isn't anyone I actually like ( such as Stacey )
Martin wouldn't be missed much by me, but sad for his kids and the ones who call him dad
Honey got his birthday wrong and thought he was already 40, so it could be him ?
I've no idea though , I think it'll be a huge surprise as they are good at that ( and keeping it out the papers and the socials )

Shellingbynight · 14/02/2025 21:21

I’ve seen comments that the 40th anniversary is a ruby… so it being Ruby who dies makes sense. Quite neat but could be a red herring.

storminabuttercup · 15/02/2025 08:59

I was a toddler when it first started, the first storyline I can remember was mark getting aids I don't think I really understood it though, I was much more into it as a teen and can't be happy to see Grant as I was so cross at how he treat Tiffany

the80sweregreat · 15/02/2025 09:09

It's sad that Angie was killed off in the soap as I'm sure Anita Dobson would love an appearance. I like to think she meets up with the others as friends for any kind of celebrations they have away from the square.
They used to have a photo of Den and Angie up in the Vic.

Southeastdweller · 15/02/2025 09:22

Anita Dobson (or Lady May as you can call her these days) is going to be interviewed in the documentary that’s available on iPlayer on Monday.

OP posts:
the80sweregreat · 15/02/2025 09:28

I like Anita ! She was in a zombie thing on channel four last year and one of the inside number 9 episodes too once.
I know her and the Kathy actress are good friends in real life.

the80sweregreat · 15/02/2025 09:48

Poor Tiffany ! Grant really was nasty to her

the80sweregreat · 15/02/2025 09:52

Thursdays one with Phil being shown just speaking (almost) alone reminded me of Alan Bennetts talking heads . Taking us into a journey into his thoughts and fears.

Shellingbynight · 15/02/2025 10:02

I didn't know Anita is friends with Gillian. I saw a news story about Anita and Tish feeling emotional when they met up, which I thought was lovely.

the80sweregreat · 15/02/2025 10:04

It was ground breaking soap , men's mental health , cot death, alcoholism, aids , racism amongst many more things , it wasn't scared to run with current events and tackle the hard things we deal with in life.

Shellingbynight · 15/02/2025 10:09

I remember the Osman's cot death, it was very well done.

the80sweregreat · 15/02/2025 10:13

Poor Sue and Ali :(
That was incredibly sad

the80sweregreat · 15/02/2025 10:16

Colin and his male partner sharing a kiss.
Nasty Nick trying to poison his ' Ma ' . Everyone thought he'd changed .As if ! ..
Dot was an incredible woman, flawed , hard as nails , yet so vulnerable where Nick was concerned.

Giantjoelguesser · 15/02/2025 10:21

Anita Dobson has done Lacey Turner's podcast. I think it's released on Tuesday
