Welcome to the EastEnders spoilers thread, where we post and talk about any EE spoilers we've read about, including those in early release episodes on iPlayer.

Link below to watch episodes on BBC iPlayer - these are usually dropped at 6am on broadcast days - and you can read brief synopses of upcoming episodes:

Yes. The blood stained shirt wasn't explained and why did Peter burn the scarf too?

the80sweregreat · 20/02/2025 06:48

Just choose Julia bbc. It's a nice name , no connections to any past fictional characters and as Sonia is leaving anyway , it'll just be a nice thing to do to remember Julia smith. Especially as the character may return as a teen one day as they do sometimes!

the80sweregreat · 20/02/2025 06:50

The police would definitely turn up for any gun related incidents. Maybe Nigel played on this to get some assistance

Great, well I really enjoyed tonight's episode and I was on tenterhooks in the last few minutes in that scene with Martin and Stacey. I don't think he'll die - there's too much mileage with another 'lifer' (Stacey). And as Chris Clenshaw is leaving, he won't want the reputation of killing off a legacy character.

The moment Angie appeared eclipsed Kathy's return from the dead in 2015 as the most shocking thing I've seen in 40 years of watching EE. Bravo to everyone involved for keeping this secret for weeks and to Anita Dobson for knocking it out of the park. She always was one of the best actors they've ever had and I felt emotional during her cameo tonight.

Yep, it really was fabulous wasn't it
Angie in her silky blouse to save her girl.
Just brilliant

Porcelainpig · 20/02/2025 07:19

Is Chris Clenshawproducer? When is he leaving? Does that mean the show will take a bit of a weird turn before the new one beds in? To be fair I'm glad to see him go if that's the case. It's been a bit tedious with the Six long term women and Phil having all of the storylines. I can see why other cast member leave after a short stint (or get effectively sacked when they complain). I guess it's about money maybe?

I think James Bye will end up on I'm a celeb if he goes then will go into presenting. I think that would suit him. He is quite tall so might look good in breeches! Just needs to grow a decent set of side burns.

the80sweregreat · 20/02/2025 07:34

I can forgive the mess of ' the six ' just for bringing Angie back for five and letting Phil show off what he can do these past weeks.
I have the impression he isn't liked much ( no idea though of course ) , but keeping a show on the road four times a week can't be easy either.

storminabuttercup · 20/02/2025 08:01

Lots of talk in the synopsis next week about grief stricken locals. Nobody will be grieving Reiss. They could be grieving the pub I suppose.

the80sweregreat · 20/02/2025 08:02

Yeah, next weeks tv guide is bleak isn't it!
They have lost their home and business and lots of disruption for everyone else , so could just be that. It was very traumatic and Sonia hasn't had the baby yet either

Porcelainpig · 20/02/2025 08:05

Yeah I agree, not an easy job. I just feel the show is very much about the long term characters and new ones don't get a chance to shine much. It feels they bring people in to support the long term characters and it gets a bit boring, then you have to have far fetched storylines to keep it interesting.

I liked Martin as he is more of a traditional soap character in that he seems like a regular person. I quite like a bit of realism in soaps, so getting rid of these characters makes it less relatable. I suppose I'm of the mindset that soaps should be more down to earth but that ship has long sailed!

the80sweregreat · 20/02/2025 08:06

It's only Feb, but three pieces of ' tv gold' for me these past few weeks
Mick standing up for Smithy at his wedding in Gavin and Stacey.
Angie Watts as a ghost.
Linda and Nigel saving Phil's life.

Porcelainpig · 20/02/2025 08:07

Yes Steve McFadden has definitely smashed that storyline. Awards are coming his way.

the80sweregreat · 20/02/2025 08:10

There are a few younger ones around, but I agree they may well feel sidelined.
It isn't really a younger persons soap , most people I know who are much younger than me don't watch it, so they also want to keep the older ones who have watched from the start ( like me) so it's a tough call.
I have enjoyed the reminiscing, but maybe time to move on a bit now and attract some younger viewers?

storminabuttercup · 20/02/2025 08:14

One thing I was thinking about ... surely they won't be doing live scenes from inside the vic? It would be a logistical nightmare so will we see them coming out (body bags optional) or are we just going to see the Denise thing tonight while the others are stuck in there?

mybelovedghostandme · 20/02/2025 08:16

I agree Steve deserves all the awards , been heartbreaking to watch he's done amazing

the80sweregreat · 20/02/2025 08:16

It might be ' live' but with a few pre recorded bits too ? They did that before, it wasn't totally live. I've no clue really. It'll be interesting to see what happens

Sebsaloysius · 20/02/2025 08:24

Omg, have I got this all wrong? I just assumed that Reiss being rubblebath'd was the shock death that was hinted in the weeks prior. Please don't tell me Martin's on his way out now too.

I wonder if any of the EE behind-the-sceners are reading this post and will now frantically rig the Sonia's baby-naming vote to rule out Toni being the winner? Massive oversight there!

storminabuttercup · 20/02/2025 08:30

It has to be an oversight cos even Lauren didn't say 'why would you name your baby after the man who tried to groom me' ?

MadisonAvenue · 20/02/2025 08:51

Is Chris Clenshawproducer? When is he leaving?

Wasn’t it announced that he’d be leaving after the anniversary episodes?

*Edit - found this, Feb 2025

the80sweregreat · 20/02/2025 08:56

It was Whitney who was groomed by Tony King Bianca's ex (in 08.)
Maybe that's why she said ' Toni with an I' but it probably was an oversight and Tony Holland was one of the original writers / co creators with Julia Smith so a nice idea , but they didn't make the fictional connection there.

Shellingbynight · 20/02/2025 09:00

I don’t like Stacey much but she is a very good character. I find Martin pretty boring but killing him off would be daft as he is an original character and they can’t afford to lose too many of those.

I am hopeful Cindy will die in hospital. She can’t hang around the Square any longer and I think she reached Peak Cindy.

I enjoyed Angie's return, but I didn't like much else about the Vic explosion.

I think Clenshaw has mostly been a really good producer. I’ve really enjoyed EE the past few years.

(Nugget definitely isn't in the rubble sadly, the camera panned past him in the square.)

Meredusoleil · 20/02/2025 09:02

I think I heard or read somewhere that Sonia gives birth in the live episode tonight. Still stuck in the Vic with Bianca and Lauren to help deliver the baby!

the80sweregreat · 20/02/2025 09:03

Did anyone save Tyler the dog?

the80sweregreat · 20/02/2025 09:05

The paramedic who spoke to Cindy was dishy.

Southeastdweller · 20/02/2025 09:14

I also felt emotional when Honey told Billy nobody would remember her wedding. I suppose it was a bit self-absorbed, but I think a realistic reaction.
