My DH works in the evenings and I'm trying to get out of the habit of scrolling through my phone to pass the time!

Can anyone recommend any funny series I can get stuck into?

Some stuff I've watched in the past and loved:

English Teacher (binged this last week and it's great)
Motherland (was very late to the party but also watched this recently! Would love to watch some more UK stuff)
What We Do In The Shadows
Stath Lets Flats
People Just Do Nothing
Schitts Creek
The Office US
Parks & Rec
It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia
Curb Your Enthusiasm

I haven't watched much tv over the past couple of years so think I might have missed some good series. Any recs welcome!

If you’ve not seen big bang theory it’s well worth a watch

The Good Place
Brooklyn 99
Grace & Frankie
BoJack Horseman (if you like adult animation)

The Royle Family
Derry Girls (I rewatch constantly as it's just so brilliant)
IT Crowd
The Mighty Boosh

Edited to add UK suggestions

LOVE Bojack Horseman!! Have you watched Archer? If not, you'd probably like that too.

Personal favourites:

Spaced
The Mighty Boosh
Dear John (1980s comedy written by the guy who wrote Only Fools and Horses)
The Office (the original, not the American re-make)
Peep Show
First series of Alan Partridge, where he has a chat show
Fawlty Towers (still funny)
Hancock's Half Hour (surprisingly funny, given how old it is)
One Foot in the Grave (not the first series)
The Day Today

Him and Her, all on iPlayer. We rewatched it recently and I'd forgotten how great it is. Mum by the same writer, also brilliant.

I'm into Australian comedy recently (username is a give away...). All of these are very funny and center around hilarious female protagonists:

Fisk
Frayed
Colin from accounts

Redshoeblueshoe · 10/01/2025 21:30

There's a channel called That's TV. They have just started showing Cold Feet from the beginning. It's hilarious.

Detectorists is v good. Gentle comedy. It's like a warm summer's evening when you're with your favourite people, having a proper laugh and you're on a blanket and the grass is soft.
It's lovely.

Kath’n’Kim - Australian comedy - hilarious!

YesYesAllGood · 10/01/2025 22:06

Inside No 9, although it's a mixture of comedy, weird and sad.

Pinkbendyman · 10/01/2025 22:15

@YesYesAllGood me and DH have just finished watching all 9 series of Inside No 9 - absolutely brilliant and so clever.

Now moving onto Psychoville!

If you like Curb your enthusiasm you may like Seinfeld written by Larry David and Jerry Seinfeld. Took me a while to get into it but I have now re- watched it many times.
