I thought their garden was odd as she so wanted to see greenery. However, DH's perfect house would have no garden to have to look after but be surrounded by countryside that you had access to, so maybe she is like him

SnappyGreyLemur · 30/01/2025 17:06

I wondered if the garden was his design because if you like greenery and didn’t want to be overlooked you could have done quite a lot with a garden that size. Why didn’t he combine his office and gym because he had quite some home office.

I love seeing the dynamics of the relationships on here and where there seems to be one dominant personality how they override the other partner.

WatchOutMissMarpleIsAbout · 30/01/2025 20:29

God he was such a selfish git! Glad he was relegated to the garden but at least he was good at DIY.

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 30/01/2025 20:50

Phil’s house choices this week were abysmal. Two new builds on estates, to replace their new build on an estate? No thanks. The first house was so boring, and the second one didn’t fit the brief regarding open plan/rural living in the slightest. I did like the last house but half an hour was always going to be too far.

Hated that guy, he was so selfish. Also clearly tight as a gnat’s arse. Couldn’t follow Kirstie’s logic about how somehow it was a good thing that they’d massively overspent at all. Still, I suppose she had to try to spin it somehow.

newhomein2025 · 30/01/2025 21:19

I think she liked the idea of living surrounded by greenery but wasn't into gardening, hence the deeply horrible low maintenance space full of gravel and paving. They could have had that beautifully landscaped and felt a lot more like they were in a more natural environment, and been less overlooked. But as someone who lives rurally, I can attest that it's a bit of a pain having to drive everywhere and not be able to just meander back from the pub occasionally. And they are not getting any younger, so probably the wrong time to move to the middle of nowhere. I think that in 5 years they need to look at moving to a village with a pub, a shop and some neighbours for community but also being closer to the countryside. Then hopefully they'd both be happy.

Doingmybest12 · 31/01/2025 08:10

I think she was just winding her husband up due to his selfishness over their house. He'd obviously got lots of skills she wasn't able to motivate him to use. Not my style but she had a good eye for design and probably had it all sussed out before Kirstles arrived. It would've been nice to see the garden developed.

MulberryPeony · 31/01/2025 14:05

If she didn’t want to be overlooked why didn’t they put some trees in or bamboo in pots? The pod looked great and it was a fab DIY. Even that helped somewhat with not being overlooked. A pagoda the other side or something? Anything to be honest.

TheDowagerCountessofPembroke · 04/02/2025 22:15

How could he not see how selfish he was being taking over the whole house like that. And I agree that in her sewing and study room she didn’t have any kind of table to work at.

It wasn’t designed to my taste but then I don’t live there. It was a very cohesive and polished finish. I didn’t understand the kitchen design though. The sink was in a tight space with nowhere to drain anything. Yes they will have a dishwasher but you still need a drainage space.

This bungalow is tiny for growing kids and would need an extension plus proper upstairs. They have a great budget for that part of England but it sounds like it would be a big upheaval for them to move.

Supertillypops · 05/02/2025 20:14

A utility with no plumbing?

crumblingschools · 05/02/2025 20:20

Always miss the beginning!

Delatron · 05/02/2025 20:20

Not sure about moving the utility further away from the kitchen. But good idea to have doors between kitchen and dining room.

crumblingschools · 05/02/2025 20:25

Busy road

Turmerictolly · 05/02/2025 20:26

It had a good layout but too urban.

Turmerictolly · 05/02/2025 20:27

Another one where they'll probably lose money in the short term.

Blondeshavemorefun · 05/02/2025 20:28

Yes I don’t think the cost and work will equal the price

Yes I don’t think the cost and work will equal the price

Which is why they are unlikely to list and move straight away!

Meredusoleil · 05/02/2025 20:37

I quite like this house with the wooden flooring and colourful kitchen tiles.

It looks very homely.

Blondeshavemorefun · 05/02/2025 20:38

Yes this is nice

Meredusoleil · 05/02/2025 20:42

Proper wow! Love love love this 🥰

Delatron · 05/02/2025 20:43

This one is nice!

Turmerictolly · 05/02/2025 20:44
