Oh dear, they could have just done the wet room and knocked the kitchen wall down and it would be worth as much. Also think they should have put a peninsula in as Kirsty suggested. The tower units look too 'blocky'.

Blondeshavemorefun · 15/01/2025 21:01

Phil rarely wins 😂

I think we just watched a man lose about 70k to prove he wears the trousers

Yes they seemed quite happy about that. I was a bit confused.
And would you pay £779K for a house where the neighbours can walk through your garden any time they like?

I thought this too. Tbh, I wouldn’t have bought it in the first place because of that access.

it was a crazy overspend. The couple were odd too, they didn’t seem to communicate.

LillianGish · 16/01/2025 13:29

A HUGE project - which the husband poured his heart and soul into - only to decide to list it and LOSE money on it! Extraordinary - I didn't even like what they did to the house. It was so entirely open plan there was nowhere to snuggle away and the kitchen just felt like a corridor across the back of the house. They redesigned it for their own very specific purposes (wanting to accommodate huge family gatherings) - I'm not sure how appealing that would be to your average buyer. Nice downstairs wet room, but I thought the extension spoiled the look of the row of houses and I could see why the council had refused planning permission. The irony is that Kirsty gave them advice and they (or rather he probably!) ignored it and did their own thing.

dynamiccactus · 16/01/2025 14:42

So that's two houses on the trot that have spoiled the external look of them, although last week's was much worse.

Newgirls · 16/01/2025 16:22

I’m still thinking about this! Such a shame to spoil the front of the house. Can’t imagine the neighbours were thrilled and then they are leaving anyway. Madness all of it.

WatchOutMissMarpleIsAbout · 16/01/2025 17:58

He wasn’t very likeable was he. Anyone notice wife said he didn’t speak to her for a while?

MulberryPeony · 16/01/2025 19:09

Just started it tonight. Why is a bog standard brick built terrace being described as a cottage? Is it just because it’s in commuting distance to London. Flipping hell at the price of it!

Blondeshavemorefun · 16/01/2025 19:49

Google says this about cottages

However, in time cottage just became the general term for a small house. In modern usage, a cottage is usually a modest, often cosy dwelling, typically in a rural or semi-rural location and not necessarily in England.

Radlett is a village so probably why they called it a cottage.

Blondeshavemorefun · 16/01/2025 20:27

E3 for next week sounds good

Parents and 5 kids share 6bedrooms but one bathroom

Interesting decision 😆 Also amusing to see they ignored Kirty's peninsular suggestion and instead put up a massive wall of cupboards. It all seemed very cold.

Skecherslover · 16/01/2025 22:05

Anyone else notice the skip in the neighbours garden and they had built an extension? I’d presumed it was right of way for the whole row but maybe not.

Blondeshavemorefun · 16/01/2025 22:38

on 4 terraced houses like those it works like this

1 2 3 4

2 has access over 1 garden - like we saw
3 has access over 4 garden

1&4 can’t go into 2&3

Makes sense, thanks for explaining. Bloody annoying for them to have the neighbour be able to do what they wanted to do but can’t because of their right of way!

Blondeshavemorefun · 17/01/2025 13:40

Only know as my friend lives in a row of 4 like rbsg

so if lived in houses 2&3 they could have done that

OP posts:
deeahgwitch · 17/01/2025 18:53

They certainly ruined the front exterior of the house.
I would absolutely hate neighbours tramping through my garden right across my kitchen window Shock.
It's an unenviable situation.
Horrible.

Blondeshavemorefun · 17/01/2025 22:44

I would never buy a house like that @deeahgwitch

my friend lives at no 2 so she can go via 1 but no one can go via hers

OP posts:
deeahgwitch · 19/01/2025 09:42

I couldn't either.
What an invasion of privacy @Blondeshavemorefun

Blondeshavemorefun · 19/01/2025 12:54

It’s from the olden days apparently

bins were usually round the back and brought round

now most people keep them in the front

tbh I don’t think my friend have ever actually gone via 1

bjr she has every right to just walk through the connecting gate and through his garden along back of kitchen and done side of house

Meredusoleil · 19/01/2025 13:07

I think both people were stubborn and were digging their heels in to get their own way. The wife won in the end, like she said she would right at the beginning!

On a different note, I remember thinking how cute she looked with yhe short hair and then later on how much it didn't suit her to have it longer! The superficial girl that I am 🙄

Blondeshavemorefun · 22/01/2025 13:32
