Lovely last house but it is rural. He might want a drink at the golf club so how would he get home. I'd love to live in Scotland, you could barely get a one bed flat for that in London.

CaptBirdsEar · 29/01/2025 20:19

Trees and shrubs and grass!!!!

The garden needs landscaping!

Yes! Amazed Kirstie hasn't costed up some trees as part of the work.

I'm team love it on this one. Mainly so they don't destroy some lovely rural idyll with mountains of gravel

Blondeshavemorefun · 29/01/2025 20:46

It is rural. I would hate it

The wife has mentioned their lives evolving, which I get but by going more rural, they would be away from amenities they will still need and they might have to move again later in life to get near amenities again. The third house is lovely but there was a bloody great telegraph pole right by the front door, DH said it looked like the house had been built around it.

The husband is a bit of a selfish prick commandeering all that space for himself.

Oh, that’s a nice layout in their build but I’d still want a seperate snug or something rather than all that open plan.

SwedishEdith · 29/01/2025 20:50

No, no, no. Have to carry plates past the sofas to get to the dining table. Bad design.

Meredusoleil · 29/01/2025 20:50

Wow! That is stunning. I wouldn't be moving anymore tbh.

viques · 29/01/2025 20:52

Sorry Jackie, don’t like what you have done to that house, And it doesn’t solve the problem that it is an ugly house!

SwedishEdith · 29/01/2025 20:53

Just realised that the guy reminds me of Colin in Two Doors Down.

Shadesofscarlett · 29/01/2025 20:56

so they spent more than it's worth

He does!

The wife reminds of Leanne from Corrie.

Turmerictolly · 29/01/2025 20:58

Yes a bit of a strange layout with the dining table past the sofas. It's not to my taste but it looks quite luxe now. He was very handy too building that pod and doing stuff himself.

I think that's probably they're not moving. It was an awful lot to spend over the value.

Blondeshavemorefun · 29/01/2025 21:08

Not their forever home

so they will be a revisit

didn’t see high hedges in the garden

I don't understand her new sewing room. Why is the sewing machine hidden behind the door? And there doesn't seem to be a sensible sized table in there to actually do any sewing on.

TuesdaysAreBest · 29/01/2025 21:14

I thought a much quicker fix initially would be to put the gym equipment in the garage and give over the spare bedroom to a sewing room come study. Agree with pp that the new open plan was an awkward shape and the kitchen part seemed small.

The very low price on the first house for sale was not explained but I thought I saw either a railway line or pylon in the back?

Agreed. Plus it didn't need that huge sofa taking up most of the space either.

That's what I said earlier upthread, about moving the gym into the garage. Or even the gym into the garden room. The garage was massive and they weren't even parking a car in it.

It's times like this when I think I should move up to Scotland. Then I remember the weather 🙁

Mooosewoman · 29/01/2025 22:39

I’m not surprised they didn’t move, he didn’t want to. The way they were living shows clearly how selfish he is. All that space just for him and nowhere for her.

Meredusoleil · 27/01/2025 21:12

Wow! Fab dress. Not sure the groom's suit was a good colour next to it though 🤔

Beautiful dress.

unlikelywitch · 30/01/2025 00:02

What a selfish man! An office, a gym and a garage while his wife has a dining table squeezed into the kitchen?

I didn’t like the design of the renovation - it looked like it was inspired by a gaudy Dubai hotel although I did lol at Kirstie pretending to love it Grin. The garden was so depressing.

The properties Phil showed them were such an odd choice when there would’ve been an absolute wealth of houses to choose from within half an hour of Hamilton. To answer a pp re the price of the first house; Netherburn is quite literally a council scheme on one side and new build detached houses on the other with one shop between them. The second house was 5 minutes down the road. The third was in Ayrshire and probably just too rural. Somewhere like Strathaven would’ve made more sense.

She had a whole tiny cupboard behind a door containing her sewing things with nowhere to do the actual sewing.

deeahgwitch · 30/01/2025 08:24

I liked what they did. Much nicer than all the grey. There's enough grey in the clouds outside.
The garden needed to be softened with greenery and trees put in for privacy - it was like a goldfish bowl with all the houses overlooking it.
The first house looked horrible on the outside, it had no kerb appeal.
Was it a new build or had recently been redone ?
Shame on whoever drew up the design.
It could have been so much nicer on the outside!!!

Yes why wasn’t it on display on a table so can do a little and then do something else and come back to it

They did transform their own house - it's a pity neither of them had an eye for garden design. They need to apply to go on Garden Rescue now!

Peachbubble · 30/01/2025 15:18

Not sure why she wanted to live rurally, looks like she'd never set foot into the garden of their current home!
And the "love it" redo still looks like an unloved show home, from grey to bling, not at all inviting.
