Exciting update from MNHQ! Series writer Grace Ofori-Attah will be joining us this week to answer your questions about the Playing Nice series. Post your questions for Grace on this thread.

Playing Nice is available to stream now on ITVX

We’re teaming up with ITV to bring you a live watch-along of Playing Nice, their gripping new drama that’s bound to have everyone talking. We’ll be watching right alongside you, so hop into the thread and share your thoughts, theories, and reactions in real time and be in with the chance of winning a £200 voucher for a store of your choice.

Here’s the setup (brace yourself): Set against the stunning Cornish coastline, Playing Nice follows two couples as they uncover a heart-wrenching secret - their toddlers were accidentally switched at birth. Now, they face an impossible decision: keep the children they’ve loved and raised, or reclaim their biological child.

It’s tense, emotional, and we’re betting it’ll spark some heated debate. What would you do in their shoes? Let’s unravel it together - don’t forget the popcorn.

Trigger warning: Playing Nice doesn’t shy away from difficult topics, including family separation, identity, postpartum depression, emotional trauma, and domestic abuse, which some viewers may find distressing

Quite liking the TV pace too. Reminds me of the old days 😄

Me too ❤️

Viviennemary · 09/01/2025 14:42

I recorded it. Watched first episode and was really disappointed. Maybe I should give it another go.

AllstarFacilier · 09/01/2025 21:22

I’m really impressed with the acting of the two little boys. Theo gets a lot of lines for a toddler and he does so well!

I could NOT get into peaky blinders even with all the hype.

SevenWeeks · 10/01/2025 12:10

The book wasn't very good so I haven't bothered with the TV series. Would anyone who has read the book and not enjoyed it say the series is better and worth a try?

Dartmoorcheffy · 10/01/2025 15:23

I thought it started off OK but then got a bit predictable.

Zone2NorthLondon · 10/01/2025 16:39

It was risible that the 2 couples met, initiated contact and meet ups
Not addressing the how did they get the address and what a significant data breach that was

It's really not difficult to get someone's address, unless they are careful about it. Websites like 192.com. Also, she owns a restaurant. If it was a limited company, her address may well appear on freely available information from companies house.

I may have missed it, but I don't think there was any suggestion that they got the address officially.

It would also befit Miles' character to track them down. In episode two he revealed he knew a lot about them when they visited his house.

100% agree with this. He's the type of person that expects everything his own way, and will stop at nothing to get it.

Anjo2011 · 11/01/2025 14:34

Watched the first two episodes. Love James Norton he’s a great actor. Not enjoying this though, so far fetched and just not gripping enough. Maybe it gets better. I hope so.

ChessieFL · 11/01/2025 18:21

One scary thing about this programme is that it does show how innocent things can be twisted, if someone’s determined to paint you in a bad light. I’m sure we’ve all had times when we’ve been less than perfect but it doesn’t mean that overall we’re bad parents. But things can be twisted so easily.

Choccyscofffy · 11/01/2025 22:26

I kept wondering why James Norton looks nothing like himself, and then realised I was thinking of Edward Norton!

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 12/01/2025 14:03

I really enjoyed it and have seen all 4 episodes. Yes, a fair few plot holes but that’s not entirely unusual for tv drama, and I was infuriated about how Theo’s parents kept sleepwalking into Miles’ plans, but I found it quite tense and wanted to know the outcome.

Jellykat · 12/01/2025 19:27

Absolutely! Having been in Family courts with DS2s dad, i know full well how clever some people can twist things...

However, i'm thinking Pete and Maddies solicitor is really crap!
For example, when she read out Miles's statement re. buying Theo a bike and the fact they lived in a small house.. details like that are irrelevant, but she didnt reassure Pete and Maddie about that.
It's about what is beneficial for the child, and if a CAFCASS report was carried out, Theo is thriving, whereas David clearly isnt!

(Oops, my post above is in reply to @ChessieFL, forgot to quote Grin)

Evening all. Hope you’re as excited as we are for episode three. It’s on at 9 pm on ITV1 - see you later Wine

Wallasey123 · 12/01/2025 21:03

Here we go. I’m already fuming 😅
